It’s sad that very few people in Trisha’s life have treated her kindly. It’s sad that she’s so shocked that someone who is supposed to love her, does something so thoughtful. Don’t take away the love and thoughtfulness by saying things like ‘it’s tax deductible’ ‘you have David to thank’ etc. Things like this should happen on the regular Jason (maybe not 10000 $ worth) but little surprises to show you care. She shows you in lots of ways that she cares, you should reciprocate more often.

Lissie you’ve missed the bigger picture. Yes he doesn’t want to go but he is still her boyfriend that will go even if he doesn’t want to. He payed money for memories and and experience with her and isn’t gonna give that away just cause David’s showing more emotion. I cry when others cry and started crying when she did as well. They have a specific bond that only they understand which is why Jason was joking a lot yet still said I love you to her multiple times. This is how most real relationships are. My boyfriend will do anything even if he doesn’t want to to just make me happy.

Making Trisha happy, donating to charity, and receiving a tax benefit are all very valid justifications for spending $10K on a trip that Jason probably wouldn't usually drop that amount of money on. From what I can tell, he is very frugal with his money because he wants to provide a great future for his children. Trisha has the means to live lavishly and doesn't expect monetary reciprocation for what she enjoys spending on others. She offered to pay for this trip, but Jason declined and surprised her with it instead. I don't understand why people are trying to tear down this moment for them.
