in a democracy the people vote for major decisions .. getting rid of the RCMP and hiring a private police force is a Major decision !! .. BUT INSTEAD beaucrats are making these major decisions .. fact is their changing too a private police force too ensure criminals can pay them off and gangs and safety can run rampant !!! how about you get citizens of surrey too vote and decide for ourselves !!
@mvpsoldier6364 what the hell are you talking about ?? also in 10years of living in surrey ... not once was i told when where or how too vote ?? weird huh
McCallum (with Locke supporting at the time) got this ball rolling several years ago. It was blindingly obvious to anyone that there would be significant extra costs with a municipal force. However, McCallum and Locke ignored reality and spouted some fairy tale that a municipal force would not cost more and would be more responsive to the city's needs. Locke had a falling out with McCallum and subsequently flip-flopped like she somehow magically saw the light. Give me a break. I would suggest that it's only fair that she has to wear the outcome of that decision she was part of making with McCallum several years ago. Where the Province erred was several years ago. They should have insisted that this change go to a referendum with the costs of the two options clearly presented to voters so they could make an informed choice. I also note that Locke is a former provincial Liberal MLA (now BC United). It would not surprise me if part of her motivation in all of this is to make the NDP look bad in order to aid BC United's prospects in the upcoming provincial election.
Reducing the grasp of the federal government in our daily lives is always a good thing. The RCMP are just hires goons for the government, and they have no accountability
The province nor should the country pay for the RCMP for a city the size of Surrey. Let alone the rcmp is not a police service of SURREY. It’s a federal service that should be doing federal policing. BC politics and people are delusional
