F-16 fighter jets caused a sonic boom in Maryland while investigating unresponsive an plane over DC that ultimately crashed in Virginia. abc7chicago.com/sonic-boom-pl...
Hardly, where I used live in New Mexico, F-22 Raptors would practice supersonic combat maneuvers at above 10K feet over the house, rattling the windows and upsetting the dogs.
@@5Cdarkwing most jets can, but still, it's pretty impressive. That's reaching mach 1 there, the speed of sound (thus breaking the sound barrier). Mach 2 is twice/double the speed of sound. In other words: this is "poggers"
I watched this video twice and then I invited my neighbor over and he watched it also. He began to cry uncontrollably and said that it touched him deeply and changed his life! So, I rented a projector and found a large field near my hometown and everyone there watched it as well. It changed all their lives! I am so thankful for this video. I hope one-day maybe the whole world will view it and life as we know it will never be the same.
If you've ever heard one you'd know its not just the issue of how loud it is, it makes everything go bang. So imagine a garage door, windows, anything not solid all banging at the same time along with the distant source noise, you are startled and wondering what just happened.
Like Josh says, it's a tremendous noise. I initially thought it was a gas or transformer explosion nearby - it shook the house, and my entire family ran outside (along with all our neighbors who were home) to see what happened. I think it even registered on a seismograph, according to some Twitter users.
This touched my heart ❤️ my mom heard it and came over to see what I was watching, she was in tears, I invited the whole family to watch it and they were shocked, it showed them a knew way to look at life, I'm am grateful of this video

This was on my Chrome homepage. Why is this news? Why not coverage of the plane that actually crashed and caused the jets to fly by in the first place??
Wheres the sound of the jet engines? Every sonic boom video has the sound of the plane following the sonic boom. Sounds more like a plane getting shot out of the sky
You laugh at your own jokes? Wow. Why are you here and not entertaining the masses with your killer comedic chops? It's a shame that only a few of us will ever bare witness to your amazing skills. Please do us all a favor and work on getting a show. It shouldn't be hard with your ability.
Yeah, after watching some real footage of Bradley's and Leopard 2 MA6's being destroyed in Ukraine, complete with multiple angles and close up footage (leaving absolutely no doubt its genuine)...this video of a drunk sheriff discharging his gun in a quiet neighborhood being passed off as f16s was refreshing .
@@TheAddanz question is how we finna know if those vehicles belonged to Ukraine or Russia, don’t give the shut with the white Z all it takes for Russians to be Ukrainians is not to paint that on their vehicles.
I remember few years back, two euro fighters breaking the sound barrier to intercept a commercial flight here in northern Italy. It was crazy…two sonic booms! every window in my house have trembled and at first I thought it was a earthquake…scary and fantastic experience at the same time!
Reason why I don't go to the movies anymore, "critics are saying this is the best motion picture of the century" meanwhile paint drying has more depth and better storytelling.
We're a 30-minute drive away from Andrews Air Force Base, and it was an incredible noise that shook our house. All our neighbors came out to investigate.
Sound like a garbage can lid closing. TBH....the garbage trucks outside on garbage day is much louder than a F-16 sonic boom. Woke me up at 6am every Thursday morning.
Grew up in South West Wales 🏴 in 70’s & 80’s. We used to hear Concorde go sonic there for it’s transatlantic journey. trust me the boom didn’t bother anyone, the altitude was too high. That was just Boeing and US industry issue.
Grew up in Somerset and Filton where they developed Concorde is not far away, they used to test the Concorde engines over our school and sonic booms were just normal.

Wow, no wonder they aren't usually allowed to go supersonic over populated areas. The total carnage from all those exploded windows was hard to watch the third time
I remember I think it might have been like 7 or 8 years ago Oregon scrambled fighter jets to Washington State and we had a sonic boom hit us that's pretty cool
Moffet field in San Jose & San Francisco area? No way! What aircraft caused those sonic booms do you know? Was it always around a specific time? Do you think it was military exercises or some top secret plane like the sr-71 or the aurora
@@javidbadshah8155 the F-16 is a Mach 2 capable jet, so they’ve been causing sonic booms since the type first flew. They just don’t typically go supersonic over populated land.
As a kid, I lived on Air Force bases, and I can remembering f-106’s breaking the sound barrier on a regular basis. I mean that was back in the 50s and 60s where there was no regulation on breaking the sound barrier.
Me too. Grew up in the thumb of Michigan. Fighters would dogfight over the lake and it looked like it was sright above my head. Just two little dots turning and burning. Once in a while they would get a little fast and BOOOOM!!!. Some broken windows in the area and one very happy little boy.
Me too. Space coast Florida and always heard them from the space shuttle re entry. Sounded like a bomb going off lol. Hated it when it happened in the middle of the night forgetting the shutting was coming home 😂
I have seen it all after this!🙌🏻 Can't wait to tell one day my grandkids about the big sonic boom of '23. Stories that will be passed along from generation to generation.👴📘🧒🧒🧒
I heard that sound occasionally when the F-16s were still around. To ME it was comforting knowing they were around and training. I cried when the jets left. It was just a sense of safety until Bush bracked the base and changed their mission.
If so the pilot of that plane should have responded to those fighter jets when it was entering that air space. I wonder where that pilot got his license from probably on RU-vid. Results: lost of his family!! Oh well life goes on
