Found your channel by way of SteelheadJedi, channel. I have two questions, how far can you shoot a target on a very clear day? Also how far could shoot a target on a very clear night?
Welcome to the channel!:] Using just the base and a rover we are able to go out about 1 mile. We use a repeater that allows us to get radio signal up to around 5 miles away. It all depends on the position of the satellites and terrain though. Are you a surveyor?
It appears you don't have many trees to mark blazes in your region, so what helps you find the corners without the trees. Is it another type of signal?
There are times that stone piles are used near monuments. The original surveyors dug pits near the corners too and they gave a bearing and distance. I research the corners before I go out in the field so I know exactly what I am looking for. They did a good job describing the land so it is easy to follow in their footsteps. Have you ever read original survey notes? You can use this link to research old surveys: glorecords.blm.gov
@@SmithSurveying The reason I asked about how the corners are marked, is because I have seen stones stacked up on some mountain tops as if they had been placed there to mark something. I see these in places where there are no trees to blaze but i don't know for sure. Anyway I enjoy watching videos about surveying methods of all kinds new and old.
