When shooting in the photo control points wouldn’t it be better practice to use a bipod and get three rounds of 60 sec observations in the am and pm to average out any errors.
On a small body of water such as this wouldn't it be smarter to shoot the elevation with your GPS and carry that elevation around the lake? Water should be relatively level.
Yes that is an option. There were some spots that would be hard to reach, but the real reason I used a drone was the client also wanted a PC and Ortho.
@@RamiTamimi 👍We've done jobs before where we drone the entire area like you did. Use pix4d to extract the shoreline then complete and drop in a bathymetry survey. Always looks amazing in CAD
Is there a good fix in the bushes? Are you building a flight mission in the DJI pilot? How long did it take to fly ? Is there enough battery? Have you tried the DJI Terra program?
There was some struggle in the tree, but only a few minutes until I had a fixed reading. Missions were done on DJI Pilot. The project took about 45 minutes to fly. I have limited experience with Terra.
Hey Rami, are you using Ntrip network to pull the gcps? Just got a reach rs2+ and trying to figure it all out, just about got my head above water 😂 alot to take in. If your using Ntrip when you pull the points do you wait for a fixed reading, then take the coordinates? Thanks
I have a huge Issue with Matic when it comes to roof edges or walls or any 2D objects. They're blurry, noise and looks super UGLY. What's your experience in using Matic to generate ortho when flown over buildings and boundary walls. Please let me know.
@@RamiTamimi I have tried with several surface smoothing values. Still of no use. Roof edges must be sharp enough. As a matter of fact any 2D objects must sharp enough in ortho so i can use them to measure. So i was wondering if you had any luck with the matic when generating ortho of urban areas that had roof edges, fencing walls etc....

Its not really "possible". You will always have holes in your point cloud with water since it moves and there isnt many differences in the surface. Best way I have found is fly at a higher altitude and gather as much shore as possible in each image

if the task is to determine the water level in the lake, then what is the point of conducting time-consuming photogrammetric surveying, if it would be possible to simply measure 5 or 6 points of the water cut with a rover?
I was demonstrating the annotation feature on Skand. My client requested a point cloud so that's why I went through the process of using a drone to survey.
