Unfortunately, you won’t find much in the shallows as most of the habitat has been destroyed by netting and using dynamite. That’s why they’re looking at your speargun because it’s not an effective way of catching food in comparison to nets. Sustainable and fun, yes, efficient no. I spent many years in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indo and the Philippines and the people are amazing but uneducated about sustainability. They’re just trying to feed their families on a day to day basis but a lot of the habitat has been completely destroyed and some of it is irreversible. They also don’t have any idea about size and eat everything they catch so populations of reef fish get decimated very quickly and take decades to repopulate. It’s a beautiful part of the world though. I wish I was back there but 30 years later and a family to look after in the UK and that’s never going to happen. Enjoy every moment, Wade whilst you’re still young and footloose. 👍🏻👍🏻

hahaha man hey one incredible place u should go to in bali is “pasar kedonganan” mate u wouldn’t believe the price and range of seafood there! u go into the traditional packed and dense market filled with incredible seafood and just buy the stuff u want, then go walk to the restaurants next door and they’ll cook it for you. Its incredible. (But sometimes u’d see some stalls selling illegal fish which is brutal but other than that the rest of the seafood’s amazing) like seriously incredible
