Items that in MY opinion are good, those that are rubbish and lots of other pro's/con's when deciding what YOU as a Prepper or Survivalist should pack in your Go Bags, Get Home Bags and Bug out Bags.

I flogged my leatherman surge and replaced it with a Sak ranger plus knipex mini needlenose combination pliers, knipex mini water pump pliers and a pic quic multi bit stubby ,screw driver. This tool combination maybe bulky and heavy but it makes the leatherman look like a toy. My compass is now the suunto mc2 global ..superb item imo The nalgene stainless water bottle is truly superb ... Mine is combined with a TBS 750ML Billy can nesting cup , phenomenally tough and versatile bottle kit .the built in bail handle aswell as the butterfly handles makes the TBS billy can cup the most versatile I've ever seen... I still love my bcb crusader cook set with 58 pat. Bottle And mk2 stove tho .. I suspect I might be a gear junkie... 😂😅 Another excellent video... You made some great points .

Why would you not mention water filtration? Carrying a Sawyer Squeeze mini, or the Chinese knockoff Miniwell, is an absolute must. All these "survival" channels must have spent exactly 0 seconds in the actual bush. I go out every month and wouldn't go out without a filter. And a Bic lighter. Ferro rod? Arse.

@@p2snetwork Yeah mate, you too. Not trying to pick on you in particular, just this genre. Perhaps try and go out a bit. I'll give you the water filters as a free hit. DO NOT feature a life straw. They're garbage. Also look into hammocks. Just FYI from someone that spends a ton of time in the Australian bush, off track.

Very well presented. I have never bugged out or wild camped but do go camping regularly. Just bought the Alpkit Elan and will try it in a couple of weeks. I have the Pathfinder 1L steel bottle and nesting cup - 4 years and bullet proof. B/Bury multitool has also performed well but regular use is an SAK. Although I have a ferro rod I still prefer a Bic lighter or Lifeboat matches and Firedragon fuel as I feel these offer the best guarantee of ignition in less than ideal situations. Like you, I would not touch Temu with a bargepole. Buy well and buy once. Thank you Alan.

A very balanced view. As with all things no one is going to agree 100%, so ill add my two penneth. Totally agree with the Florida emergency wet and wild poncho, and I understand the argument about non breathable foil emergency bags... And here it comes, the big but. But I carry two foil ponchos, which don't rip when you look at them and they are "vented" enough to mainly stop condensation. And the reason I carry them is not because my Berghaus needs a backup but for the plum's that I come across that decide a light shell is enough to cross Dartmoor in. And then it rains, and the wind picks up and then as it always happens you are the one they find looking for help. From a bugout point of view, a green one tucked in a jacked pocket, for the circumstance where you have had to dump your kit for a quick exit from a vehicle at an unofficial checkpoint for instance, might give the option to go all "Platoon" and squat down for a bit of a warmer if necessary. "Up the Osprey!" Just don't use it full as a rugby ball cos it bloody hurts (from experience)

Excellent presentation. Some people freak out when they find out how much i spent on certain important items but I'll ask them "How much is your life worth?" "Buy once & cry once!" I had to figure out what type of sleep system would be adequate while light enough for my wife because that's where you'll find the biggest bulk. I too have a Mora Companion & I'm planning on buying a Bahco Laplander Folding Saw for my GHB even though i already have a Silky Gomboy in my Bug Out Bag. Thanks for your advice about shorter ferro rods because I'm trying to trim the weight wherever I can.Stay safe but stay frosty. Cheers.

"If they say it's gonna rain, it's gonna rain harder.." You must live near me! 🤣🤣🤣 Actually you don't, I'm in the middle of the USA but wow do we get the rain. I love my Leatherman, I've had one since they came out, carry and use one daily. Moras are the best deal out there for knives. I acquired a handful of Laplander saws decades ago when they were still made by Sandvik. I had never considered taking a saw until I got one, they are bombproof. I'm down to my last one, but I've since switched to Silky. Sorry Laplander! I carry a poncho but it's my US Army poncho from the 80's, I've had to re-waterproof it but it's still bomber gear. I like your videos and love that Crusader mug.

The argument against a disposable poncho is fine if you’re talking about a go bag, but if you are talking edc and the choice is either have the emergency poncho vacuum compressed and sitting in a back pocket or having nothing at all then that pancho isn’t so bad.

Can't argue with any of that though I have one or two personal preferences. Bang on with the knives, no excuse in the UK, you can get a Hultafors GK for £6/£8. A good bit of steel and built like a tank, there's vids on YT of people hammering them into tree's and climbing the tree's. I'm not a fan of 58 Pat Ospreys, I think they make your water taste like it came from a chemical toilet. Not too keen on the mugs either unless that's the only metal container you have. It's a lump in your pack and you may need to carry that pack a good distance. With the plastic water bottles, I prefer ones made of Tritan, no plastic taste. Nalgene Oasis £10ish. If you are skint, the Karrimor nalgene bottles can be had for £5. They're fine, used them for years. Would only recommend those bottles and the dry bags from Sports direct. With the Nalgene they fit any US GI style metal mug, there's loads of them on-line and if you search around you can get a proper Stainless US GI one for about £10.

I think it's just me, the Ospreys and the US GI plastic bottles, brand new too. I'm fine with the new Dutch Avon bottles and the Swiss ones, they are thick black plastic too. One of those things.

Forgot to mention. Urban waterproofs are for me, Mac in a Sac over-trousers and jacket. Out on country rambles, the moors etc I use a decent poncho - genuine mill-tec stowed in a mill-tec pouch with double draw chord.

Yes there is a lot of rubbish out there, some off amason is not that good either. You neex to see it feel the quality before purchase. Cant go wrong with military kit, robust bullet proof does what it says on tin. And will last. May not be light weight but it works in all conditions world wide.. Very good you talk sence.

Someone other than I once said "what price your life ?" And I think that pretty much says it... within reason. I'm a disabled veteran who is on a government pension so I'm not flushed. But I do purchase the absolute best that I can afford. Though I'll admit to sometimes going beyond my budget. Now recently I've bought a Spanish branded & made folding field knife. The blade was DULL, and not properly ground. The saw was DULL & wouldn't cut a pencil. The can opener was DULL. My cat has sharper claws... I was sent a replacement by Amazon. It was the same. So now I'm sending both back for a refund on the first. I wanted a "backup" for pocket EDC. I went to the knife store. I don't know about availability in the UK , but here in the States there's a good supply of issued, but un-used Swiss Army canteens with aluminum nesting cup. Under $25.00 . The canteen is 8/10 of a Liter, and the cup fits properly on the BCB folding stove. Water is a Necessity. Don't go cheap. I have three ways of purifying water... Sawyer filter, Aqua Tabs, and boiling. You should also know how to obtain water from foliage and solar stills (read Lofty Wiseman). Excellent Video !

That sounds like a terrible knife mate. Hope you get a full refund and find a better tool soon. The M84 canteen and aluminium cup are great bits of kit. I own a few 😂😂 I made a lid out of sheet aluminium for one of them and it's usually in my scouting set up as it's a great profile for haversack carry. As always, thank you for watching. Enjoy your weekend and stay safe 👍 Ps the M84 canteen and cup are about £11 delivered in the UK

I'll be getting a prompt refund once I send them back. I normally don't drop names but since I received two duds in a row, it was "Aitor" of Spain. They USED to make quality kit... My replacement from the knife store is branded "Walther" but made by SAK ! The saw is so sharp it comes with a protective cover for the teeth. For my bivy "bag" I just use the U.S. military "ranger roll" (GI *Issue* poncho, 90x60 inches & mate poncho liner - poncho folds small & liner fits into a 6x12 inch compression sack. I have an Arcturus emergency "blanket" for added warmth if needed).
