Survival of the Shawangunks 

The Survival of the Shawangunks - it’s over 50 miles divided into eight stages of biking, running, and swimming through the Shawangunk mountains, and what many refer to as the most fulfilling and difficult race they’ve ever completed. The course was developed from a training route to prepare for the Ironman World Championships in the early 1980 ’s and has since evolved into a rite of passage for triathletes around the world. The event is capped at 150 participants, but the community tied to the SOS extends far beyond those at the starting line each year. For those who have experienced the race, it represents something bigger than competition - it represents the ability to persevere, to commit, and to join a community tied together by respect, hardship, and strength.
