How does the mind respond to loneliness and a restricted diet? How many days would it take for YOU to call the fire your “friend”? Greg and Amós revisit their Alone experience, discussing the psychological trauma and other mental health issues related to long-term survival.
Greg is a self-taught survivalist from Canal Flats, British Colombia, who, since he was a boy, has read nearly every book on the topic. When he is not out in the wilderness, he is a professional dry-waller. He started his first bow drill fire when he was thirteen and spent the next forty years learning bushcraft and studying plants and edibles. He has even developed some of his own survival techniques and is a skilled hunter with both a bow and a slingshot.

This was the best video content from both Gregg and Amos! They were both so real. Would love to hear Amos talk more about PTSD and El Salvador. He lived a life most people don't know about & could probably help so many by sharing( if he is inclined ) Both of them are such good facilitators of this type of conversation. Camp fire talks ;)

Thank you for putting this together. This instantly became one of my favorite videos from the Fowler family of content makers, as their raw honesty and unscripted banter is exactly what two friends who have similar shared experiences would talk about while chilling by a campfire. Well done.

Greg, you have earned the right to tap out, stay the course, or whatever you choose. People need to realize, you guys are flesh and blood, very talented flesh and blood, but humans none the less. Cool story on the fish retrieval Greg. Greg and Amos, you guys have already proven yourself, maybe just some one or two adventures so we can stay in touch, and live your adventures with you. If you can do longer things that don’t stress you out, that’s ok too. I now understand PTSD but from car accidents, got hit again March 30th. T-boned a guy in 1994 at 55 mph, now every time people roll up to stop signs, your mind thinks they are not going to stop. Imagine that happening 1000’s of times a year every time you drive. Now even more edgy that I’ve been hit in the side. Greg and Amos, you guys are a great team, thanks for sharing.

i remember hearing for ptsd memories that usually go into long term storage dont and end up being relived as active memory over and over again. Makes ya think what traumas we have ourselves and how it could even begin to compare against stuff like this.

Once you understand that seeing is not just with eyes, hearing is not just with ears, tasting is not just with mouth, smelling is not just with nose and communication is not just with sounds and light waves, you can communicate with the entire universe. Our mind is limited to few basic senses, you must learn you unlock more senses then fire can speak to you, sea talks to you, wind tells you a lot.. But not everyone sees, feels, taste, and more...
