Hey Jerms, here is a donation for a review on a US first strike ration, on me, plus a little extra. Do what you want with the donation, I just want to support you a bit. I look forward to more reviews! Love your content!
Wow!! Thank you so much CB!! I truly appreciate the donation!! That helps big time!! If you shoot me an email, I'd love to know which menu you'd like me to review first! Again, thank you so much!!
@@jermsMRE I would love to! What is your email address? Can I hit you up on your creator springs merch account? Is that OK? I don't see any other way to contact you. Let me know what to do :)
I honestly don't understand why you don't have more subscribers. You are easily in the top 3 of youtube MRE reviewers. I've been subbed for a while. You put out really good content.
I'm glad you properly identified this ration. A lot of reviewers say it is a Russian special forces cold weather MRE. But it is actually NOT military issue and made for civilians. You can buy it at sporting goods stores. Russian sporting goods stores. It is, however, very similar to actual military issue Russian MREs and a lot of components are identical. However, a lot of components are straight out of a Russian grocery store! Haha! That coffee is fine. You are correct about the caffeine separation. I actually think I told you about that before. And I would be REAL careful with eating suspect meat items. The soft cans in Russian MREs are not designed to last forever like US MRE food. The food is not manufactured or processed the same like US MREs are and the packaging is not nearly as strong. You can very easily get E. Coli or Botulism from Russian MREs, especially expired ones, and they are apparently well known for doing that. It is also important to know, Botulism is odorless and tasteless and survives in an oxygen poor environment like inside a can. And the stuff is REAL nasty. I've eaten a few Russian MREs now and I can say that the liver pate tastes like straight up liverwurst in a can. That's the closest thing I can describe it to. Also, the apple jam tastes like the sweetest apple sauce you could imagine, only a bit thicker. At least that's how I thought it tasted like. Also, whatever app you used to translate the "beef stew" did not translate it properly. It is really stewed beef, or toshunka (Or however you spell it) and it is absolutely delicious! Best single Russian MRE food item BY FAR for me. It is more like a beef roast, but boiled. I was blown away at how good it was. You really should have tried it plain without adding all the extra stuff to it. It doesn't look so good, but it tastes amazing. I don't know exactly how they make it, but they get it right. The juice is more like a gravy. Perhaps the quality of the beef is different between the MREs, also the stuff I had was from a soft can. I don't know if that makes a difference, maybe a different manufacturer.
Thanks for the comment CB! I truly enjoyed this one!! That beef stew (stewed beef) just didn't seem quite right but still wasn't bad. That apple jam was so good! I appreciate you always being here CB!!
@@jermsMRE Well thank you very much! I love your videos and look forward to more all the time. I think you do an honest review and cover all the components well. I am an MRE enthusiast too and collect MREs as well as eat them. I love to share my experience and see how it compares with your review. I think we are mostly on the same page and have very similar opinions. So, I actually have a request. I would absolutely LOVE to see you do a review on a US first strike ration. They are a 24 hour ration designed for the initial 48-72 hours of an offensive operation and are logistically easier to supply and the food is designed to be eaten on the go. I think they are really cool and I think you should try one out! They are a bit pricey at around $35, but it is a 24 hour ration with a lot of food. I hope to see you post a video review of one of those! I hope you have a great day an look forward to more reviews! Thanks for what you do.
@@corkbulb2895 Funny you mentioned the FS rations! I just bought a case and have a couple I've gotten earlier. So I will most definitely be doing one soon! I appreciate your support CB!!
@@jermsMRE Hey Jerms! Just saw this. I am glad you already bought a case of first strike rations. It is a bit expensive, but it is cheaper per meal than buying them single. I guess you saw my donation. I hope that helps a bit. You asked me to pick a menu, so I would like to see you review Menu 4 Mexican beef wrap and BBQ chicken. I have that menu extra and I am going to eat it soon and would love to see you review it before I eat it. However, you can do whatever menu you like. I really just want you to do which ever menu you like the most. Whatever makes you happy. Please enjoy what you do, for me. I love to see your videos and want to show you that I care and wish to support. Have a great rest of your day! I really look forward to the US first strike ration review! Take your time buddy. there is no rush ;)
I have to admit, I don't always eat all of the ration. I have to at least let Mrs. Jerms get a few bites 🤣 Only a few though! It's my ration!! 🤣 Thanks for watching!! I appreciate it 👍👍
Very nice. Thank you. (I've been watching your videos, they are great. The editing is superb. Format is like Steve's, but he's stopped posting much content lately. You provide the same content...)
Ok the way you used all components....together and your meal layout, is exactly the way I did mine when I got first ration of this type. I filmed it, but never posted it. You did a great layout with all these meals. I loved your outtakes 😅😅😅😅😅
Hi Jerms. I wouldn't waste the apple butter on the stale crackers, just eat it plain and enjoy it. Eat the chocolate spread by it's self. Great review bud. Excellent job as always. Terrific editing. Have a great day. Colorful out takes 😂
mixing the breakfast components together was a great idea - the tomato sauce was an interesting addition as well! i was surprised to see the peanuts in this ration as i'd always heard those aren't that popular in Russia. i had the same issue with the drink in my Russian IRP, could not figure out what flavor it was supposed to be!! that chocolate spread looked decadent 🤤 молодец Jerms, well done!
Great review…. Although my stomach was turning through most of the video (maybe I shouldn’t have watched it right after having dinner…. 😂😂) most of it reminded me of canned cat/dog food 🤢 😂😂
I'd pay good money for a case of those cans of porridge. I found it to be really good. I think that beef stew needed some rice or maybe potatoes at least. Thanks for the video brother.. watched the entire video
OMG the porridge was so good!! I'm with you brother!! I agree about the beef stew. 2 packs of mashed potatoes would make sense. Thanks for watching brother!!
Great review Jerms. I am always pleased with the russian mains. Lots of fat to keep you going. That beef stew may have had some horse meat mixed with it. Great meal layout as well. Thanks for sharing buddy.
I've never ordered a ration before, but I kinda wanna start when I can. Don't know if I'll make videos or not, but some stuff in these look really, really good. Especially this one. The mains just look absolutely delectable. I think I'd love it. I may have to try and seek it out.
It is a lot of fun! I tend to like the vintage rations the most just because they're like time capsules. But for eating, the foreign rations are so interested. But, can be pretty expensive and if you order from overseas, customs can and will open them and take stuff. So, not sure if you're in the US but if so, my advice is look for foreign rations from US sellers. 👍👍
The thing with all things Russian is that they give things abroad that they don't have. In the case of this MRE, it is relatively certain that you will not see such foods in Russia itself. Things like "Pokazukha" and "Potemkin Village" have always been favorites in Russia. Both basically mean "outer shine with nothing behind it." This means that to other people things seem many times more beautiful than they actually are. This food falls under "Foreigners be jealous of Russian things". But it's all a big lie...
Thanks for the comment! I really enjoyed this ration! Not having access to this ration in the very country it's produced would be very sad. I'm thankful I got to try one. Thanks for watching! I appreciate it 👍👍
The Russians will pack in at least one foil can which is basically mainly all fat. They regard animal fat as a very important component in a cold climate ration. And let's face it they would be experts in this, right?
Totally agree! Very good assessment and right on point 👍👍 Some of the coldest geography on the planet there! Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!! 👍👍
This was my first Russian and it really was good. I have 2 military Russian rations to review so it'll be interesting to compare. Thanks for watching Connor!!
And yet when the war in Ukraine started and the Russians had to abandon their tanks when they ran out of gas, instead of rations like these, there were literally bags of turnips and potatoes. As the war went on, the Russian military stopped supplying even that much and the poorer Russian soldiers had to forage for wheat sprouts out in Ukrainian fields.
Thanks for the comment. I try to keep my reviews neutral and focused on the food rather than get into the politics. Setting that all aside, I had to give my honest review of the food, which was fantastic. Thanks for watching! I really appreciate it 👍👍
@@jermsMRE I wasn’t criticizing you. I was criticizing the Russian military. They had a perfectly good assortment of rations, but no doubt higher ranked officials in charge of supplies pocketed the funds and purchased the cheapest alternatives (or nothing at all) instead.
