This is the second video that I’ve watched of your visit to Ghana. Just to let you know, ima a Korean guy from NY. I had a chance to visit Ghana 20 years ago and I miss the people and the food. The memories are flooding back after watching you n yer journey and my mouth is watering from seeing all the food you are trying. Thank you
Totally agree! I also like the co-host, she is an innovator, and is bringing new experiences to her country and trying to present it across continents.
Chef Mamme is not only beautiful, but incredibly talented. Her knowledge of Ghanian food and its history, along with her education in fine dining will definitely earn her a coveted Michelin star. Great episode Sonny.
From Bangladesh but I was in Accra for a year. The northern style Jollof is something I had almost everyday. Now that I’m back in Dhaka, my mouth still waters for that Jollof. Love Jollof as much as my biriyani.
@@rlt9492 I think absolutely yes. Of course it depends on the variation of Jollof. Some Jollofs have dried fish mixed in with the stew and served with proteins like beef/chicken. That may not suit Asian palates as dried fish isn’t usually associated with chicken or beef. Although I love how umami it gets when dried fish is added
@@rubabmahmud8459 I went to a Senegalese restaurant in Italy one time with a hostel mate from south India and he said that the food there would become instantly popular if someone were to introduce it back home.
I am kenyan and we do have some foods 🧐, but the west of africa has variety, good diverse variety. Trying them in their authentic environment is definately on my bucket list.
Some of your food. Also influenced by the...... let's say people who brought you there plus indigenous knowledge and crops maybe protein, my knowledge on Jamaican food origins is bare bones at best.
I was literally searching for something to watch and the video came. Nice! Ghana's food has so many spices, looks colorful and flavorful. Pretty sure we Brazilians would love it! And we're also passionate about rice and beans. The Jollof rice made my mouth water (and Chi Chi is so nice!) and the porky bites look amazing. Lovin' this series so far
I would absolutely love to come and see your beautiful home. I wish we could swap lives for a week and someone could come here to eastern Kentucky and see how the mountain people live. We eat pigs feet too.
The Jallof, goat and plantains remind me of my Puerto Rican grandmother. Some slight difference, but you can easily see where the islands get some of their food culture. Just put Ghana on my list of places to visit.
I'm Ghanaian, and every time I'm in Ghana, it feels like heaven. I don't even like Accra, but my village is everything to me. I have it on my channel even😂😂😂
I’ve never been and honestly was never really on my radar as somewhere I wanted to go but culinarily it looks really good, I’ve become a big fan of traveling for the culinary experience , I’ve been to many countries but never really took the time to appreciate the local cuisine and that I regret as some of the places I’ve been I’ll probably never get the opportunity to go there again
I’ve said this before I’ll keep saying it…I think the best way to get to know another country’s culture is through their food. The food is a good opener then you can get to the rest of the culture by talking to people and exploring but not by yourself
This is one of best videos Sunny has come up with. I think he’s on par with Anthony Bourdain. I love the storytelling and the production. Now I want to travel to Africa. My friends are there, I should hit them up.
@@WildsafariTracks-tq9jg ignorant comment, Ghana is mainly rainforest and coastal plains. The northern side has the Savannah grassland that's where the wildlife is. Sometimes educate yourself before speaking
Never knew about it but it looked so flavorful and I want to try it. There's no Ghanaian restaurant where I live so I might have to copy that woman's recipe.
She said: it should come from your heart! The Ghanaian attitude is everything ❤maame is repping really well. I will def try to taste ur food. All the best
I’m glad you finally made it to the motherland. Proud of our heritage and thanks for using your platform to tell the world about Ghanaian food. Much love ❤
*Ghana is the soul of Africa* When the soul leaves the body there's no more life in the body* . To wit, there's no Africa without Ghana. 🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭 *Proudly Ghanaian, Proudly African* 💪
@@Devil66652 Inferiority mofo😌 In your country a *64years* man is an eldest to a *67years* man abi? Remind me, when did your country gain independence?
This is absolutely awesome. A reminder that as Africans we are diverse and creative. I loved food in Ghana and Nigeria and my brothers and sisters ensured my stay was great. I'd like to see more of this.
Sonny left Ghana before posting Ghana Videos, I really wanted to meet you, I have followed this Channel I was the first person to congratulations this channel on 1m subs, whiles following from 14k subs,, congratulations for coming to Ghana
Can you blame him? Sonny doesn’t come off as someone who wants to be hassled by fans all the time. Plus, you never know which ones will be cool and which ones have a weird parasocial relationship. Being a public figure is tough!
This could of been recorded months ago and only released it lately, Ghana is some crazy people who want to rob any white man they see and I'm glad sonny never showed himself walking around poor areas and showed the good things in Ghana
The co-host, top tier, even if her restro is all about ghanaian fine dining, it still has 1 usd items on the menu. Not forgetting the roots and also providing top of the table items. Really wish you good luck for the Michelin star.
Naaa you need to taste it first pls😂😂😂.. Buh I already know Ghana got the best Jollof.. Don't let it seems like b'coz SA is beefing with Nigeria now😂😂😂
Cooking 'JOLLOF' is a calling, if you are not filled with the 'HOLYSPIRIT' pls don't just sit down.. 😂😂😂😂😂❤ 🇬🇭🇳🇬✌️ Best frnds, the whole world, even the world knows about our banter. 😂❤
Beautiful video. So satisfying and enlightening. To answer some of your questions, Sonny, Ghana's wide variety of meals is due to the availability of many spices, staples and protein. The major reason is the different cultures as stated. Many different people migrated from many different places and settled in different topographical areas all now called Ghana. With the many options provided by nature, Ghanaians got creative. So you'll see that for one food item, we have so many ways to cook it. We are still redefining cooking methods for our foods because we are a creative people who also perhaps understand modernisation. Also, cooking is held in high esteem here so food well-done is a crown, hence the spate of food sellers. Finally, we're an adaptable bunch who are known to welcome strangers thus some of our cuisine is assimilated. Thank you for coming to Ghana and i truly hope you enjoyed it!

What a beautiful restaurant. I’m really impressed with how clean the kitchen was (I live in Canada and most should aspire to be that clean and organized). I think many people only see the worst bits of Africa, and Sonny does an amazing job at showing the best of it too 👍
@@HefnerLamarthat shows in volumes, the deceit wrapped in so called westerisation and cultural propaganda to softly slain and control the unsuspecting minds..thank.
No mention of shitor in both videos. That's a unique ghanaian source not found anywhere else. Wish someone will introduce it to Sonny some time. Great video as always ❤🇬🇭
We have similar dish in India we call it Tomato rice (Tomato Bhath /Tomato Bath) . The only difference being its purely vegetarian dish hence does not contain animal fat or bouillon cubes. Instead of Tomato paste we use the actual Tomatoes. Its a popular dish in southern India. The curry powder we use is called Sambar powder. African food has so many similarities with how we cook food in India. e.g. Sambusa in Africa is exactly same as Samosa in India. Really enjoyed this culinary trip ❤
Now I really want to go to some African states just to experience their food. We have a handful of African restaurants here (I know a Nigerian, an Ethiopian and a Sudanese place and there are probably others, too), but from my experience with places in Asia I've been to, eating it locally always is a huge difference. And everything they taste in this video looks so good!
I love this ghana series. Sonny, the first one you did before the Nigerian series was bad 😅 but I’m glad you redid the Ghana series. Chef chichi was on point, same as chef nyonyo. Really love this series
Love the videos on West African food! such a wide variety and seasoned with incredible spices! We in Southern Africa seem to eat a somewhat mundane diet in comparison. Thank you for sharing African foods with other Africans, and especially thanks for bringing our food to the attention of the world.
I haven’t watched the video yet But the title is just funny. Surviving? More like savoring the glory of African food🤣. I know you had the culinary experience of your life
One of the best videos from you so far. I love the questions you ask. I am shocked to learn that no restaurants in Africa does not have a Michelin star. It’s time to put them on the map for sure, both rice looks DELISH 😋!
I'm Nigerian but even I have to admit that that jollof rice looked good. I'd like to try Ghanaian food someday. The interesting thing about it is that there's a lot of variety unlike in Nigeria where it's just rice, beans, swallow
