SURVIVING CASA BY THE SEA: rehab boarding school that abuses kids 

My son was sent to Casa by the Sea, 23 years ago today, April 1st. We had on idea what was actually going on there. 9 months later I pulled him from this program. I would do anything to take away this horrible time that we all had to endure

I spent two years in Tranquility Bay in Jamaica.. Casa's sister program.. same organization. 2000-2002. Everyone who has been thru Casa or TB, we are all Fam. Much love

I spent a little under a year in Casa by the sea. It led to several years of similar experiences. Sobriety has changed my life completely but I will say, I learned quite a bit about human nature and in a sense am grateful for the experience. It definitely gives me an edge in business and in life dealing with people in the real world. Thanks for sharing your story. I have certainly moved past the trauma but will never forget my time in “the program”

Thank you for this. I was at a lockdown school in Utah where I was sexually mentally and physically abused. It was literal torture; I won't get into detail, but I witnessed a brutal rape, was molested repeatedly, physically beaten, and had my basic human rights denied. I dream about being in a place I can't get out of every single night. I'm in a much better place but it took years and years of healing. I still have the dreams, and I don't think they'll ever go away. I went in to LRA as a pretty innocent kid. I came out a shell of a person and turned to drugs for comfort. By the end of it I was using huge doses of barbiturates and ended up ODing. It permanently ruined many things in my life. Luckily I have some awesome people around me. Again, thank you so much for bringing more awareness to this. This touches so many people. Much love to both of you.

My mon went to Casa by the sea, she told me they couldn’t speak in english at the place, they could only speak Spanish. I am glad this stuff is coming to light. Thank you

This was unreal to find. I went to Casa By The Sea 12.6.01 to 3.3.03. Only ever made it to level 2 ... briefly. I was in Prestige family then moved to Valor family. I cried the first time I went to worksheet but after it being a regular thing for me my emotions became more dull with every tape. Spent 3 days in "Room Restrictions" and that experience is one of the more vivid memories I have from CBS. Truly felt like a hostage in that room. Those were some very dark dayz. If this is the same Rocky from Honor Family (Casa, 2000) I’d love to chat. I’ve been searching for 20 years for someone I was there with. I’m super glad that technology now allows us to collectively share these experiences so that people might finally believe what really occurred there. I stopped trying to explain to people what happened at that place a long time ago as their reactive disbelief would often result in me a questioning my own sanity. Thank you all for getting this out there.

My parents told me I never tried to tell them the truth/how I felt-plot twist; we weren’t allowed to-to complain is blatant manipulation. In reality the one time I tried to tell them, my dad yelled at me for being manipulative and threatened to take me back early, before eating dinner and my “3-day pass” with them in St. George was over. Riiiiiiiiight... Okay... Seeing the movie V for Vendetta give me a severe panic attack/CPTSD reaction when it showed the parents, and Stephen Frey’s character get rendition. I will never be comfortable sleeping again. Period. I don’t go to sleep willingly since 2006; my body capitulates eventually after not allowing the brain to turn off until tremors start; eyelids, calves, hands. So yeah-I wouldn’t give any WWASP facilities a good review. Couple of my homies transferred from Casa by the Sea in Mexico, but weren’t really allowed to openly talk about why; if a place is bad enough that the Mexican Federali out their foot down, and so yooooo-too much. You know WWASP is fuc*ed. I’m drinking. Sorry for rant.

I’m so sorry you’ve been subjected to so many different residential treatment programs. I’m a wwasp survivor too, and the fact that only 2 facilities you’ve been in were not abusive should tell America that something in the troubled teen industry is clearly not right. You are such a great resource to anybody trying to understand more about these places because you unfortunately have endured so many different ones… I feel so bad for you, girl :( It’s no accident that so many of these programs use the same tactics and have the same sadistic philosophy on how to treat children aka how to torture kids. It’s not a coincidence that most of these hellholes do not get shut down, at least not permanently, and the criminals involved rarely face repercussions. To me that says the government is totally involved. If you learn about Mkultra, thought reform, cults, and if you study history of mind control in America then it becomes clear what these places really are. If you explore the history of the TTI and who was in charge of such predecessors of wwasp such as the seed and strait inc, It becomes evident that this is from the top down. When you learn the public funds, aka our tax dollars are paying to send teens away to fucked up abusive programs like this, and the criminal justice system is also sensing delinquent teens to these kinds of programs, how can you not see the truth of what is happening here?! Our own government is doing this to us! That is why the industry has not been regulated! That is why the abuses are so widespread and rampant! That is why they don’t use evidence based therapy modalities, instead, they use torture tactics and brainwashing techniques! The Troubled teen industry is straight up domestic terrorism being perpetrated by our own government!!! It’s a way to control the more rebellious of the population in subdue them into subservient. Compliant obedience… get in line, worker bee. Stay productive, stop being creative. Don’t think for yourself. Don’t see truth. Buy into capitalist ideology and slave your life away, make us money. Don’t you dare speak out against what we’re doing or there will be hell to pay! *consequences*

I went to New Horizons. They had 3 campuses. Indiana, Canada, and the Dominican Republic. The movie “Kidnapped for Christ” is about the DR. It’s crazy to see all this coming out in the media. Makes me rethink everything. I did not go through anything as bad as this...but it could have...and that’s what’s scary. Makes me think twice about my relationship with my mother. Parents that do this to their kids are horrible people. Humans have intuition, especially mothers. There’s no way parents didn’t know what was going on...or at least that something wasn’t right. And don’t get me started on adoptive parents sending their adoptive kids to these schools. It’s makes my blood boil. To be given up by your biological family and then adoptive has to be one of the worst pains to live with. Idk what I need to do but I feel like I need to do something. Or WE SURVIVORS have to do something, Like protest in DC. Mike Pence is an advocate for the school I went to because he use to be Indiana’s Governor. We live in a sick world

I was in casa by the sea as well in the family respect an loyalty. Until after I made it to level 4 when I could walk around an help families. Then it was shut down at a pc1-pc2. Thank you for letting us come home.

A teen called Michael Perry went to Casa by the Sea around 99-00. He ended up killing three people just one year after he left. He was executed by the State of Texas in 2010. That says it all.

I've seen kids get beat down by "counselors" they made me box other kids with gloves, so they can make bets on us.

Got out in February 2004...been in jails and prisons in California, Arizona and Utah and Casa by the sea was worse than any jail or prison.

I was at casa by the sea in 2004 left August 27th right before the shut down. It was horrible at times, couldn't talk 1 on 1 always needed a "3rd" in all honesty it was like jail. Had to even walk in lines ask permission to stand up ask to use the restroom, got clean clothes twice a week the list can go on with what really happened there. Seen real mental breakdowns by a few kids. Sad but being asked to take the trash out was a privilege and you low key got to go to the girls side and that was even crazier.

Here it is. Any parent who dumps their child into one of these prisons is a shit parent and person. What kind of parent doesn't see their child at Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays?

I was in Costa Rica at Dundee ranch academy in 2003 the youngest on the facility by over 3 years and then was in the riot for 3 days before being sent to Montana to finish my program for another 15 months. I was with kids from Casa by the Sea and Tranquility bay.

I was there during the shutdown in 2004 beacon family. Met alot of cool kids from around the country. The shutdown was insane no water kids scrappin trying to set fires. Sucks i didnt get to go home had to up to ivy ridge after.

the owner of casa by the sea and one of his business partners both taught me in high school, they work in St. George Utah, they should not be allowed to be around kids. One is a spanish teacher and the other is a geography teacher
