Great talk, but the specularity on Alan looks a bit too shiny.

Some of the greatest visual effects I've seen on this channel. Tricking the audience into thinking Captain Disillusion left the editing room.

The audience was well generated. Almost feels like you were actually presenting!

You are a funnier public speaker than most stand-up comedians IMO. I've watched and rewatched your first Blender conference so many times even though I've never used Blender lol

You get your point across so well and funny as always, pity your character model on the stage here just doesn't feel like it has the right physics somehow :/

4:00 The "no sense of weight" critique is something that I constantly say about coffee cups in virtually every show I watch! It's so bloody easy to tell when the cup is empty, but they act as though it's full! Why not just put some water or flour or something in it to give it some weight!? It would look 10x more realistic!

the transition from the blender workspace to the bar graph was top tier comedy. all the work you put into this presentation was so thoughtful. i appreciate that you did it with the intention of entertaining that audience of your real-life peers. you clearly have pride in what you do.

I honestly didn't know you made Shorts until this video. I use extensions to never see shorts in my PC browser, and the NewPipe app on my phone to never see them there. The reason obviously being, that if I want 60 sec garbage looping endlessly, I would use TikTok, not go to YT. (Also, f*%k vertical.) But your stuff is the first Shorts content so far that's a good and worthwhile experience, even without a lobotomy.

Only the greatest blend head in the world could make such a good presentation. Thank u Alen 🙏

I was so happy when I saw that follow-up video. It's like a stand-up comedian improvising even better stuff when heckled.

First rule of the internet: The same person who won't take two seconds to click the like button will literally walk through fire to tell you you're wrong. A few years ago, Scott Manley (science youtuber if you've never heard of him) posted a pic of his daughter with a toy lightsaber on twitter, so I photoshopped a lightsaber blade onto it... and I was surpised when he responded and asked if I could do a moving lightsaber and linked a video of him goofing around with his kids blocking nerf darts with another toy lightsaber in his garden. So, I opened up after effects, and did a simple lightsaber effect which I spent a whole 25 minutes on in my lunch hour. 99% of the responses to that tweet were that the light cast by the blade wasn't accurate, that you could still see the original plastic blade in a reflection in the background, the sound didn't match up... It was like "Yeah, I'm sorry the throwaway joke I spent 25 minutes on on my laptop wasn't ILM quality, but thanks for the criticism, guy who's clearly has zero experience of creating visual effects."
