Mike we lived on a half acre a few years ago. We sold most everything we owned, sold our house and bought a farm in the country in another state. We’ve never been happier! The hubby works but we’re not chasing any materialistic dreams anymore. It’s been so freeing! Blessings Mike and Lacey! ❤

My Grandmother lived in a dugout in the side of a big hill. Dirt floor & walls. It was one big room. That they would pull a curtain down the middle at night. She said it was warm in the winter & cool in the summer. Seems people focus on material things now days. I personally love your yurt. 😊

I would love to live in a Yurt out in the country on my own land. When our trailer house burned to the ground my husband and i took a job with a trucking company that requires that we travel. We stay in one spot for the winter months and drive then in the summer we start moving to different places depending on the jobs the company sends us to. We live in a 5th wheel camper year round and we love it. Everyone has to decide on their priorities. What is the most important to you. Our children are grown and have their own families now. This job let's us travel and get paid to do it. Love your videos and love the Yurt.

I wish we would have raised our children thus way. My husband and I lived in the city for years worked endless hours especially the hubby he stayed days away from home. If we knew of this lifestyle 25 years ago I think it would have benefited them so much. They often states how they wish we were around more even though they understood. I know your kids are getting an education living this way and will always remember there life as young people with the fondest if memories.

I agree with everything you said. We spent years not seeing our children for much of the day and for me much of a week. I'm a disabled and retired nurse. I worked shifts and weekends. It's tough when your kids are in school. My story is so much the same as many others. When I got sick and couldn't work like that anymore, we downsized. I got a settlement which we used to buy a used van that with no payments. Our home that we rented out, was recently vacant. So when we sold the "dream" house for a good profit, we payed off our older home. We had a lot of restoring to do after the renters left, but we've lived with much more peace of mind financially and with the ability to spend time with family. I wish we'd done it before our oldest 2 children left home. 😃😃👋👋💖💖

I lived in a tent, then a tiny home, then in a huge house. I'm ready to downsize again. After raising kids in a home built by my husband, father & father in law, is now just too big for my needs. Yurts would be cool to live in. I like the interiors.

My house of 39 years burned a year ago- the insurance covered the mortgage I did on it, and the cost of ripping down whats left is robbery. So i bought an old small camper- do my gardens, live there all but the cold winter months right now until I can get a room add on big enough to give my wood stove a home, THEN I'll be able to stay! My kids have grown and living their own lives, I don't need even a small house- camper is big enough for me and my husky, I tend my hens, GOATS : ) and gardens, I have all I need. My house fire was in the middle of the night- electrical fire - I never seen anything burn so fast.... so, only power to the camper will be WHEN I plug in the power, the well is still functional, septic too but not hooked up yet- maybe not even gonna : D but I'm happy when I'm there, and homesick when I'm staying in town with my son People lived with so much less back in the day, and I've always loved rough living, my house-backyard is woods, a brook with trout, it's a awesome little spot where I can't even see the road back in the woods as far as I am. AND I LOVE IT

We live on 49 acres in north TX that we bought in 2021. We had plans to build our Forever Home; nice and spacious! Our plans have drastically changed, and we're now transforming our shop into our Forever Home...and I couldn't be happier! I have a roof over my head, a kitchen to cook in, a bed to sleep in...just like any other home; in TX we call these barndominum's. With the economy of America, I'm afraid that things are going to go south pretty quick. I'm so thankful we have our barndo, beef and dairy cattle, chickens and turkeys, and our soon to be garden; and a stocked pond. I'm sure some ppl will scratch their heads and ask why...who cares? My riches are waiting for me over in Glory...this life is just a vapor! Live life to the fullest, Mike and Lacey, happiness is what a lot of ppl will never be able to achieve.

Fascinating 👌. When I decided to relocate from the city to a smallholding in the Central Highlands of Tasmania and live off grid, I wanted to build a couple of yurts to live in. Unfortunately the local council would not approve these due to the incredible and stringent laws around new builds. I was forced to build something that sent me broke and is STILL incomplete, 4 years later. Madness 🤷.

I make ok money, my wife and I lived in a little relatively horrible apartment for about 7 years. We saved a ton with no luxuries even coffee outside. Bought land for cash in 2017. Built last year to avoid the mortgage slavery conundrum. Who wants to be a slave to the banks right. I built a small home with the help of my wife, what a labour of love. But we owe NO ONE! I like the idea of growing and being home. I get taxed so much it's pathetic when others do nothing and live off the system! I'd much rather work enough and grow my own food so I'm taking care of me and mine. Now that makes sense! Keep on keeping on fit farmer, do take care!

I think you're so right Mike! Having a "house" is "the dream" but it really isn't what is important. I think the way you and your family is living is wonderful. When you look around the world, most people live in different shelters than we do. Land is much more important then a shelter. It is sad that we have to spend our younger years working so hard to "afford" a home. It is nice to pass it on to the next generation and I think that's the only great thing about having a home. We hope one of our boys wants to live on the farm when they are older. Thanks for the interview with Holistic Hilda about her trip to Mongolia! It was great to hear about how they live and what they eat and see the clothing and blankets that are beautiful! It sounds like she had a great time! Wow, an eagle hunter! That sounds fantastic! Amazing! He had some nice pelts on the wall too! That was so neat that she could watch Oscar train his daughters with the eagles too! That is so nice that he started singing from pure joy. Wow, they never got sick! Wow, the animal rich diet MUST be healthy! Too bad about the "government" splitting up the housing of the Innuit peoples in Alaska. I think family is the most important all over the world! Thanks for the Bible tie back with her travels! I hope the Yurt planning goes well! That is cool that the Mongolians live in a similar way! One yurt for cooking and living space and the other for sleeping. Thanks so much for this video Dickson family! Hezekiah is getting bigger!

Great video Mike and z Lacey , and I think y’all getting a 2nd Yurt is gonna be a great investment for y’all’s family ! If y’all haven’t already planned it in maybe add a 8x8 room between them and add a hallway where both the hallway and bathroom is enclosed in between them thus connecting them and a full bathroom and the hallway are what makes up the 8x8 room , the room / bath and hallway could be as simple as made out of Yurt material to make it portable like the Yurts are !! Also I know talk want snd need more acreage for your gardens and animals and y’all could be on the look out for some acreage y’all could get for a good price like tax sales land or land being sold cheap and secure it that way thus being able to continue to live the life y’all love as it is as homesteaders and not working outside the home but off the land ! You may need to move quite a few miles out of town or up in the mountains but land is always cheaper the further out of a town you get!! Just a thought but at least it’s a way you could continue your channel and be off grid if you choose to be and not have to work away from home !! God bless ❤️🙏🙋🏻

Mike, I totally agree with you. Live simply, honor family and stay close with them, you don't NEED all the stuff of modern society, eat what you grow. I love that lifestyle and have made several attempts at it. At 66 years old, I still want to have my chickens and garden and live with my adult son. His "requirements" are a bit more than mine and he thinks that I'm too old for that lifestyle. I have had a few health issues, including cancer recently, but I'm determined to get back to that way of life. It's better for both your physical and mental health.
