PART 1: Game setup. Sponsors, backgrounds, initial shuttle contents, reading and interacting with the map grid, basic camera controls, research, and landing your shuttle. PART 2: Initial building construction, including: concrete, power, water, and oxygen. I also show how to use the RC Explorer, RC Transport, and RC Rover. PART 3: Our first dome & first citizens (and a martianborn baby!) PART 4: More dome services as well as Martian resource production (Machine Parts), plus expanding to a secondary area (and learning about Tunnels and Shuttle Hubs). PART 5: Building our second dome and achieving a fully self-sustaining Mars colony (by producing all types of goods).

If you have played any type of base building game every time you start a game, the first thing you do is pause and plan your base. Pause, look around the map to see what resources are available and where your base will be. Then you plan. You might even start research and set down buildings before you even unpause.

Have you looked at Parodox tutorials. This is probably the best decision that company has ever made in regards to tutorials. Both cheap advertising and helps their end product.

Its probably for the best. I think developers are too familiar with their games to understand the learning process that other people may go through while playing. Quill had to learn the game and experience trial and error.

New to the channel - came here as I'm in a discord for Cities, and this game came up. I am thankful to have come across this quality vid because a couple of the other "tutorial / starting / how tos" make a lot of assumptions about you (the end user), where as you (the host) go thru every thing and speak on it - which is the way I like to learn. Further, I am watching your vids to see if I even like this game, and for sure, just after this episode you have made me want to purchase it (even though it's free thru xbox game pass as I type this comment). SO, thanks for the good stuff; ill be watching all of your tutorials, and i'll check out what else you do on your channel

That canyon is called Valles Marineris (hence the name of the landing site) and it's 4 times as deep and 5 times as long as the grand canyon.

That, and while the grand canyon goes down to about 2km in depth, the Valles Marinires system goes down to about 7km in depth. So you'd almost be able to fit the mount Everest in it. Another feature I think I saw coming by is Olympus Mons, the largest volcano in our solar system, up to roughly 25km in height.

Not sure if you're familiar with a board game called Tera Forming Mars, but I feel like this is an actual video game replica of that board game. I'm very intrigued by this game and I really appreciate your thorough tutorial on it. Little things like how to navigate the views is important. I've seen some other videos on this game where people just rush through it. Thanks for taking the time to explain everything.

VERY informative video. I'm just annoyed that I have to watch these tutorials TO LEARN TO PLAY THE GAME! Why didn't they just make an in game tutorial! How many people want to watch 2 hours of tutorials BEFORE THEY PLAY A GAME?! I don't know... uuuugh. Really frustrating. But I do think once I figure it all out I will enjoy the game so I'm gonna push through.

That bothers me as well. I remember when games included a manual, an actual book, in the box when you bought the game. Then they decided to include a manual, but as a PDF file, on the disc. Irritating but at least it was still a game manual. After that they started the "in game" tutorial, which wasn't as nice as the PDF file for reference purposes but still showed you what was needed to play. Now most games have you guessing until someone actually makes a wiki. I just bought "Ark: Survival Evolved" which is a huge game, over 160 Gigs, and no manual. To be fair it does include a survival guide but it does a piss poor job of explaining the game.

Can a rocket scientist please enlighten me as to how sea level is calculated when there is no sea for a reference? Does the 'largest, flattest bit' become the new reference point?
