Congrats, and great result! Nutrition/hydration is the fourth discipline! Make sure you include electrolytes in your nutrition plan! And Zealios for sunblock!
Thank you 🙏 Yes! 👏 great advice 😂 I should have trained with a proper nutrition plan/ gotten my body used to using certain gels! Also the sunblock 🧴 is key! I still have a mad farmers tan from this race that won’t go away! I have been applying sunblock to non tanned areas to see if I can get it to balance out 🪦🪦😂
Well done mate, huge effort! Thanks for the video. I'm training for my first marathon in November and thinking about entering Ironman Taupo 70.3 in 2024.
Thank you for sharing your experience, I have signed for my first Half Ironman too and it is the same race in Galveston (70.3 Half IM Texas). I am excited but also worried about the swim part, do you recommend for opting in for the wetsuit? It seems like this year it won't be that cold, but the wetsuits won't be restricted most likely.
You got this! Good luck 🍀 it’s coming up! Also side not make sure you get some swims in with the wetsuit so you can figure out how it should feel when it’s on right. If it’s on wrong you are going to feel like you can’t swim 👍🫡
@@the_silver_liningg Thank you! I really appreciate your response. I've got a wetsuit and ready for the event! You are right, the wetsuit makes so much difference and adds confidence in open water swim!
That’s probably a smart idea 😂 before you know it you will be on 2nd, 3rd race. The training process gets addicting 👍 I just finished one this Sunday. Anyway, best of luck! 🤞
I’ve really enjoyed several of your videos. You remind me of my son. He’s a great guy like yourself. Excellent production and congratulations on becoming an Iron Man.
Hey Jamal! 😂 Haha, you've hit the nail on the head with the 'call of nature' question! Indeed, there are portable royal thrones (aka porta potties) strategically placed like checkpoints along both the bike and run routes. However, since I am slow 🐌 I'm in no rush and I stopped. Now, as for our competitive comrades, they've mastered the art of 'going' without actually going anywhere, if you know what I mean. I guess when the race is on, every second counts. 😂😂
It was a great race. The second lap of the run was the worst ... it was like being in no man's land ... it was a hard run to be honest and my worst performing sport even though I am more of a runner that anything else. It was great to see the you tube guy running around the course. Will you try another one?
That’s awesome to hear 😂🫡 I am glad you had a good race! Yes sir, I am hooked 😂 the goal is to do another one in December out in California near Palm Springs. What about you?
@@the_silver_liningg Yes, but my next events will be running events. I want to improve my half marathon and marathon times. But I will be looking to do another one maybe by the end of the year or early next year. One day I may find the courage to do a full one.
I want to sign up to a 70.3 that's 10 weeks from now. I know i can do the swim and run, because there are no cutoff times, but I'm worried about the bike. Since there's no cutoff times, is it realistic I finish the 90km bike?? (I'm an OK cyclist- on a casual training session I've done 30kms) been biking for a few months. (Running for 16 yrs)
@@na-dk9vm yeah I think you will be fine 🤷♂️ just verify with the cutoff time. I think it’s typically 8:30 for a 70.3 👀 I think it’s depends on which race you are doing 👍
