I live in East Harlem. Never on earth would I own a car here let alone park my house! Tips for if there’s a next time: Best place to park in Manhattan is maybe the residential part of West Village. Tho, there’s always someone who will mess with your ride, especially a cute one like that. I’d also consider parking in Astoria, Queens and take the N train 10 minutes into the city. I grew up there. Quiet, people are nice, more respectful.
Regarding NYC; you either get it or you don't. And, NYC is much more than Times Square and Manhattan. So much more. I grew up there and lived there with a golden retriever who was the most popular guy on my block. He loved the social interaction with all kinds of people and other dogs. I have not been able to live there for the last ten years but I miss it more than I can ever express. I love traveling but I also love New York. :)
If you like Alaska the travel dog be sure to check this special episode about her: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PKZI-H7jUN0.html&ab_channel=KombiLife
It's a strange strange world that this video is not already nearing one mil views. Cinematic at places, Documentary like narration and Vlog like experience with great content from life. So much hard work to shoot and edit. Alas! same goes for some of my videos but to a very little extent compared to both of yours.
Kombi Life I love your videos so much, you inspired me to decide to do this when I grow up. Thank you so much for sharing this awesome journey with all of us. I wish both of you including Alaska the best of luck!❤️
Thank you for all of season one! I got goosebumps at the end when you were describing the travels so far, everything you said was 100% true. I can't wait to see season two and watch yall explore the rest of the world!
I think a lot of people might not understand how difficult your time in the desert was. I really felt for both of you. I know how hard it is to have such an enormous project before you that's GOT to get done, and to do it in those circumstances, cramped, blistering hot, dry. You made it though. Onward to new adventures.
I'm feeling so nostalgic. I used to have so much fun in NYC, even if I lived in the suburbs. It was fun spending a day going to all the shops I knew and loved
I recently found yall, and I have been loving every single video . Ive been living vicariously through yall and cant wait until I can chase a similar dream of my own. The videos also do a great job of depicting the ups and downs of your adventure, and its refreshing to get an honest and straight forward view of what it takes to make #vanlife a reality . Thank you for your hard work!
Thank you again for giving us such a good time. I had the feeling I was sitting next to you all the time. And you made even boring mechanical stuff extremely exciting. You have really the best videos of all traveling channels on youtube. I hope, I'll see you in Germany. :-)
Thank the Lord that Boomerang was safe in the Big Apple. I agree that there’s too many people in NYC. I couldn’t stay there for long either. Thank God for the help you got from all the people in the UK that worked on Boomerang. They’re a great bunch! Can’t wait to see you in the UK.
You guys made me home sick, and over the many years it has changed for the better. Just don't look like a tourist Welcome to my Hood. Thumbs up on the theme music fast pace and up beat is what New York is all about. I was excited every time I watched you three. NICE..... BE SAFE AT ALL TIMES.
Great episode. Especially loved the summary section at the end. So many great times you guys have shared with the world on this channel. Excellent storytelling!
I just smiled when you said "Harlem"... Loved it that you weren't scared and opened in showing NYC and Harlem cuz that's not what others may show... If you can make here you can make it anywhere!
Living a dream. Such courage, so much planning and just plain hard work. You guys keep this going and live that adventure to it’s fullest. The add revenue is not much considering what it will take so I for one will head on over to Patreon from time to time to support you. Best of luck, no breakdown the wind on your backs and many blessings for a great adventure.
IMHO, Central Park is THE most impressive thing in New York itself (I were there only 3 days, so I am clearly not an expert) - the huge area of green that makes you feel almost like in nature, with the view of all those skyscrapers surrounding it - this is just so unique, that it is hard to imagine beating that.
There should, from now on, be 3 Thursdays in a week. I cannot wait one whole week for one episode ! That is selfish me ranting. Just love your series, travels and adventures. Be safe, go slow and live your dreams. Next Thursday is not all that far away :-)
As a fellow Bean, and at one point being a resident of Felixstowe, now travelling Australia in a van! I really hope our paths will cross! So glad the combi is ready to go ❤️
I've lived in Harlem for almost 5 years now! Y'all were about three avenues over from me, I'm guessing. Happy to see you were able to explore some of the city and everything went smoother than expected. :) Excited to see the next chapter of this adventure.
@@KombiLife Absolutely. Just as any major city, crime happens everywhere and one neighbrohood vs another can not deter it alone. I've loved my years here.
Well done Ben and Leah, well done. Alaska is definitely a world traveler now, but she gets the worst seat... Can’t wait to see what’s next! Bryan from Vancouver
Thank you for sharing your adventure in the new high top VW bus! We're sorry to see the part of the story end, but also looking forward to the next chapter. See you guys next time! #VWLife #KombiLife
Awesome guys, Been watching a few months now and just joined your youtube Kombilife membership. Great series and amazing people. Looking forward to travelling further with you
Hey Paul, welcome to the Kombi Crew mate - We're working on Season 2 right now so we'll be posting the first episode soon as an unlisted video for you to preview, stay tuned mate and thanks for helping us create the series.
Im sad you guys aren’t getting as much attention as you did for that big video summing up the Alaska journey. That video is what got me to join the team and ever since I’ve loved this series. I wish more people would appreciate the series for the masterpiece that it is
Thank you for that, there's a very solid viewership of this series, but the RU-vid algorithm is not promoting it. You can help a lot by sharing the series with your mates. Here is the link to the series: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OP8sgYSzuVo.html
I'm impressed you visited Harlem where I was born and grew up. Harlem gets such a bad reputation, of course decades ago it had its issues but it's nothing like that now. Bet you never quite visited any place like New York. London is close and I knew you're from Jeeerrrsey, UK. Thanks for showing your subscribers Harlem. Carry on with Travel Mercies.
Great production and story telling👌. New York is a great place to visit for a long weekend other than that it's just another city. Walked from statue of liberty to central park. And then got lost at 2am ish and ended up in the Bronx. Might of been lucky, no idea but ended up sitting down answering endless questions about England over a beer handed to us by one of the guys from the gang. Just people gettin by any way they can it seemed.
I really appreciated watching these episodes! For years I have dreamed about buying a vw bus and traveling all over the US and you guys are living that dream! Cheers to you both and Alaska! Thank you for bringing mine and everyone elses dreams into reality! Blessings from Bend Oregon :)
I am perplexed why anybody could not like this series I wish you the very best of luck in your adventures As for when you come to UK can I suggest you visit Hampton Court Palace home Henry viii well worth it!
Fabulous guys .... surprisingly cheap to ship the Kombi ... A fantastic first series guys ... really looking forward to future adventures ... Crazy to think this was filmed almost a year ago !!
So happy to see Leah on the mend! Sorry to hear about the attempted break in. It sucks because it makes you feel a little paranoid about leaving the van alone. Considering some of the countries / areas you plan on visiting, it might be good to start thinking about kombi security ahead of time as a proactive rather than a reactive. Nothing of course is 100%, but a "paging" car alarm with shock sensor, magnetic points and a broken glass sensor along with a steering wheel lock club go a long way in deterring woodbee thieves. Can get a pretty good system installed for around $500 usd which i'm sure is a fraction of the cost on what you have invested in Boomerang and the equipment he carries. Helps give piece of mind and then your not dedicated to someone sleeping in the van every night for the next however many years this trip takes. Shame someone damaged the van already. Hope you got some filler in there to help prevent premature rusting on that sleek new paint job.
yeah we've been thinking a lot about what we can do with the security upgrades. We'll make a video about some of the more obvious steps we're taking in increase security and we'll post it to you at some point after the Kombi is built out.
Kombi Life GPS tracker would be a great option, hidden in the van somewhere and relatively cheap. Any theft would be detected immediately (some alert when the engine is started) and you would get it back very quickly before any damage/dismantling. Recommended :)
Absolutely love your videos! You guys give such a unique perspective of traveling, and I always look forward to when you guys post a new video! I am from New Jersey (near Philly) and have wanted to make a trip to Jersey in the UK for a very long time. Hopefully you saw more of New Jersey than just the highway and the city!
I hope i had the means to travel the world like what u guys are doing. But watching all your videos is like you are bringing me to where you are. Thank you kombi life for sharing your journey. I hope i had money so i can support you. But i am just not that fortunate in life. But still, im making the most of life. God bless and have a safe trip!!! Love u guys
Fantastic, if your heading to the North of England Id love to meet you guys. This has been a truly epic series well done.Hope your all well and blessings to all.
Thanks guys great vid. Personally id like you to have more detailed travels in each spot. You travel too fast through places for me. But yer there is so much to see, places to go... And Leah! Omg girl you becomes more radiant beautiful and stunning in each episode. Ive been following since the start. So looking forward to the next phase. Assume you'll do an internal fitout in the UK? To make it more comfortable ..and warm!
Thanks for the kind words Craig! We will aim to travel slower and take more time in places but unfortunately we will always have visa restrictions and limited time in each country
Are you guys still in the UK? The best part of England is all the little tiny country towns and the incredible countryside, and you're so perfectly set up in a van to explore it all! Lots of people go to London and think that's England but its really really not lol! You have to go to Cornwall, the coast is beautiful, theres great surfing and all the cutest little seaside towns like Boscastle, padstow and Falmouth. And the country on the border of Wales is so lush and green! And Wales itself is incredible, please go there, you'll love it!
Hey guys, I love your show, and I love you three as presenters. You are down to earth and the content is well thought through😊. My thoughts are that in order to have such a quality show you must be living/ thinking more for the show than for the experiences you have in the moment? I would be interested the see a show on this dichotomy ?
Thanks for your kind comment, we do find that we at times forget to live in the moment and focus too much on creating and filming content. We definitely need to improve on this.
Love it, love to see more from you guys, actually would like to find out more about the expenses related to sending BUMERANG to Europe. Planning my next trip.
I been to New York once! Never again! I totally dislike way too many people for me , I just felt cramp there! The pizza was delicious though! Looking for the new season!
Awesome episode, another corker, really gave a good sense of the place and wow sooo many people, I think a bit like London a nice place to visit but not somewhere I'd want to stay for a long time. I also know how you feel about leaving these old buses unoccupied as they aren't as hard to get into as (some) modern vehicles. Was the smoothness of the paperwork designed to give a false sense of security? ;) ;)
Im glad you guys chose uptown manhattan, I too am about to start my van travels next month and im from washington heights, not too far from where you guys stayed
I loved your 'Driving around the world' season 1 and can't wait to see more. My input into your route would be to visit Malta. It is a tiny little island in the med which is steeped in history dating back 5000 years It is also a place I call home so if you include it in your itinerary I would love to show you around. :)
I am from NYC. Born and raised. So watching this was interesting. 😂😂😂 I am from The Bronx. When you said "I like visiting NYC. But I don't think I can live here." 😂😂😂 That's why a lot of people are moving! I love it here, but I hate it here... I cant believe you slept in your van in East Harlem and NYPD didn't catch you. ❤❤
