My mother took her life when I was 17 … the need to talk to them one last time never ends

My 39 y.o. son took his life 4/26/2019…. I will never be okay…never…

I lost my son Sean the day after Thanksgiving in 2023.He was 50 yrs old.He was a sensitive soul who was funny and he suffered from depression and anxiety most of his life.He was a great dad and would do anything for his kids.At the time he died he was saving for a down payment for a house.I know that he just gotten so low that he couldn't bring himself back from it.I had recently learned that he had lost his dear childhood friend two weeks prior to his death.He had told me that he would take care of me if I wanted to stay with him.I had recently had some serious health problems.I second guess myself when I think maybe if I had gone to his place he would still be with us.When he died I was in such shock I didnt cry.These days Ill have one day where I think of him and cry because Ill never see him in this life again.I find myself not having any energy to do anything.I still cant believe he is gone.Im going to be starting therapy on Monday.Im hoping that will help me open up and express my feelings that need to come out.Its helping me to read your comments here..Thankyou for sharing

With depression people dont know how to communicate. You just cant get out of it

lost my son almost 9 years ago he was in college & somehow time has passed but the grief just has to be fluid when it comes you have to get thru it even as painful as it can be sometimes. Thank you all for sharing your loss as well.

Paul had such a great family 🩵...it is a blindsiding nightmare. I lost my husband to suicide 3 & a half years ago. My heart shattered into a million pieces & I felt numb for months. Didn't think I could survive it, but somehow I did. It helps to hear others' stories & the similarities. Thank you for sharing 🤍

Everyone needs something to look forward to. If you notice that someone has suicidal thoughts or tendencies, spend extra time with them. Try to give them some hope, some goal, something to look forward to. Let them know that things will improve again on the rollercoaster of life. We should not get overwhelmed by passing events and feelings. According to ancient wisdom, suicide is the final declaration of failure to enjoy, failure to face the challenges of this material world which in reality is a place of sufferings, quarrel, chaos and confusion. It is this feeling of being deeply depressed, lonely, overwhelmed, without purpose and without hope that things can improve. It can be said that a person considers the killing of one's body with the false hope to stop their suffering.

My 17 yr old grandson took his life July 2022 because of blackmail over some pictures online. Life for my family will never be the same , but i believe JESUS has his hand on us and we will make a difference in helping others not go thru this and one’s who have.

I was 13 and 14 when I tried taking my own life due to the guilt I felt after my uncle SA me when I was 8 all the way until I was 13, I saw Suicide as my only and last option thankfully my mom was able to take me to the hospital when I overdosed and survived but they had to put me in a hospital where I had to stay for almost 2 months for my recovery and had to be with a few other teens that were struggling with mental health issues , I’m currently 20 and still struggle with depression but thankfully I know how to control my emotions now ❤️❤️for anyone struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts, PLEASE DON’T DO IT, your loved, your important, you truly matter 🫶🏼

Nearly every story about someone who has died from suicide- tells about someone so happy-pleasant - caring- good manners- etc!!! What 5:42 does that tell society??

I personally had the roughest life growing up but im sure most kids will say the same. Oddly enough, i never once ever thought of suicide. Not for one second. I didnt even know u could! Thankfully, my naive thinking saved my life because i know for certain i would have done the deed. I guess living in todays time, kids are smarter and with better technology too, so they have more access to information etc. Because honestly, i wouldnt a clue how to do it nor even know it existed. My dumb self growing up i guess paid off.

I can understand the situation of such people who commit suicide. People thinking youre smart and shit and them having the expectations and that you would never do something "stupid" like this,just sucks. Currently, my only reason of sticking around is my mom, and the fear of her reaction and the fact that she wont be able to handle the fact of my not smiling at her or making her smile. Just saying there. Silent.

As a survivor of attempted suicide it is people’s fear to talk about it that makes it hard for us depressed to reach out for help. If you tell someone you are thinking about suicide you will get hauled off to a psych hospital and be kept against your will. So, why would I tell anybody if that is what is going to happen. Life is mostly about struggle and suffering. Most of us can move through that but many can’t. Don’t tell me about all the bullshit hotlines and websites. I am 58 and know all about that crap.

You can tell just how broken you are when losing a child whereas this sister finds it much easier. There is no loss that hurts and lasts as long as forever as when you outlive the sudden loss of your child. Losing a sibling is so much easier by comparison that there is no comparison.

My mom took her own life at the age of 33. I was 15 and my 2 brothers were 13 and 8. 5 yes after my mom died my baby brother Danny put a bullet in his head. Their deaths were DEFINATLY related to my dad's alcoholism AMD abuse even though he blamed everyone else! I am now 71 and my dad and other brother are long Dead. I have made numerous suicide attempts but, sDlt, am still here to Geiwe Rheum Until I Die😮 I did become a Psych Nurse and Social Worker . So I hope I had a part in others NoT taking their own lives but instead living their lives thieve through w Some Jog😂❤😅

My girlfriend took her own life and left herself for me to find in the house we just bought. Now I'm supposed to let her stupid and selfish decision destroy my life? Hell no, that's on her. Suicide is a choice and I refuse to believe that hurting their loved ones wasn't on their mind. They knew exactly what they were doing when they did it, and I'm not gonna feel guilty or have trouble moving on with my life. She opted out and fucked me over. That's what happened. I'm not even mad at her, but that's the truth of it

Don't be too sad over children who kills themselves cause they don't love you. If they loved you, they would not do it.
