have you thought of having a video where you explain words you use often as a teacher? something like "teacher terms and definitions" and you could film a quick 2-5minute long video (since editing takes a long time) that explains words like "saks(sp?) and phonics", "sight words", "dp", "manipulatives" , "morning tubs" and other common phrases you use often. I think it would be helpful to viewers :) obviously you don't have to if you don't want to

Heather Marshmello I thought that was a good idea. Since some viewers (including myself) might just watch her for fun & might not know what she is talking about. But WOW ^ umm that was a response. But like you said I guess its fine if she doesnt want to, shes not force to do anything.

Great idea, I would love that too. Even though I work as a teacher, I am not American and the education system, activites and terms are different in my country. It would be nice to learn some new perspective and ideas.

I taught kinder my first three years. One thing about littles is when one decides they need restroom/drink/bandaid/is itchy, they all are. The silent signs are good. Also maybe try organized restroom breaks mid morning, after lunch, etc. I also had a small bottle of lotion with a handmade label and it was my "magic" lotion if anyone was "hurt/itchy". I also used "magic dust" invisible dust I could sprinkle for students in need. 😂

That One Happy Classroom that's the way my first kinder class was. Usually I'd get them started on an activity that I could move between tables and then choose a table to begin and when they came out they could tap the next student. You'll find what works best with your kiddos! This age is sooo much fun!

Classroom rules and expectations are not to be taught "one more time". They are supposed to be consistently implemented throughout the school year. That will save you a headache down the road..

That One Happy Classroom I don't think the commenter was attacking you. They probably misinterpreted what you said. However every comment I have seen from you is defensive or rude. This was the first and will be the last video of yours I will watch. When you snap at people in the comments you seem rude and insecure. Your comments also insinuate that you know everything. Heads up from one first year teacher to another we have a lot to learn. Take all advice politely even if we disagree. Our classrooms and what we choose to do are up to us but don't shut out others. I hope you continue to learn and grow as a teacher and have a lovely career.

I think if your principal said she hand-picked the students in your class it probably means that she sees something special in you and she probably gave you a class with really good students so you can work your magic. I think that's awesome and you're very lucky!

That One Happy Classroom I'm a high school student teacher I worked with Special Education students in middle school grades 6th 7th and 8th including elementry children grades 2nd to Pre-k. I love it I always get the bright happy smiles and hugs from the little ones it puts a smile on my face when these kids turn my worse of mornings to happy ones every day Monday through Thursday at 8:20 am my Teaching Program Class hits the bus ( Bus 26 ) and the moment I enter the class the kids greet me I have told them that would trade a whole week at my high school to be with them. I have gotten " I wish you where our real teacher " " can you stay forever ?" And " I wish you where my big sister" since I join the program my school attendance has become better ( I now hate missing school). I have cards from my 1st graders and their cards are the reason I keep going. My teachers have asked " why teaching? " i tell them " I am not becoming a teacher for the summers off or the easy pay or being a glorified babysitter I'm doing because this is my calling I spent many years wondering where do I fit ? I want to impact these kids and inspire them to reach their dreams."

I'm glad you had a good first week! That very first week teaching can be rough, but it seems like you're doing well! One piece of advice: buy yourself at least one more lunch box. I have three, because I have left mine in the fridge at school far too many times! It's also good for days when I know I'm going to be on campus for a ridiculous amount of time (open house, rising 7th registration, show nights, etc.) so that I don't have to cram multiple meals into a single bag. If you wait until next weekend, you'll probably be able to get a second one at Target or Walmart on clearance, once they start discounting all of the unsold back to school merchandise!

I taught kinder my first two years of teaching! I loved those kids! I think you are doing a great job of reflecting each day. Reflecting is definitely one of the keys to becoming a great teacher. I wish I would have known about Class Dojos when I started teaching. I started using Dojos 3 years ago and my students have responded so well to it each year! I'm curious to know how exactly you use it, in terms of rewarding students and what they work for when earning points. We have Dojo parties and coupons, but it is always nice to mix it up as well. How are you using Class Dojo? Do you leave the monsters and student points displayed on the board throughout the day so you can award points whenever you need? Do you carry around an iPad? I love class Dojo but I'm looking for the best way to use it

I leave the monsters up for most of the day. however, i disabled the option for the negative points to show up and make a sound. I do have a kindle that I sometimes carry around, but I mostly do it during transitions when we reflect about our behavior. I'll make a video about it soon

Teaching Kindergarten was by far my favorite! Maybe you can add 2 whole class bathroom breaks into your schedule...We did one late morning one after lunch...maybe that will work for you.

I actually did a video on how I do morning tubs in my room. I just use the cheap plastic shoe box bins. I have not had any issues.

I LOVE your videos and always find so much that I want to comment on! Could you explain what morning tubs are? I teach kindergarten, so I'm interested. We just do a" bell ringer" or "morning work". You are so lucky to only have 16 students and 3 recesses! I'm sure you are able to give each student more of the attention that they deserve. I have 22 students and we only get one 20 minute recess each day. I'm also so jealous of your school's early dismissal day. We get out at 3:15 EVERYDAY. Do you not have to eat lunch with your students either? I do, plus I have to help them all through the line to get their food. Your parent involvement is unbelievable, too! It's looking like I need to move to Arizona to teach haha!!! Oh and I was wondering if you did end up with an assistant. I heard you mention having help for 30 minutes a day. I am thankful that I have an assistant in my classroom all day and she takes them to activity. Could you eventually make a video talking more about your free centers? That's something that my district is pushing for this year and in the years to come.

Daisy Beltran I had trouble to with picMonkey and it wouldn't let me put the right size. So save it as it is and go back to the file where you saved it, click open with paint and you can size the picture there and don't forget to save it. Hope this works

Just curious, do you get to set your own schedule of when you teach certain subjects throughout the day? Besides specials, lunch and all that.

technically i get to make my own schedule, but i have to take into consideration recesses, lunch, specials, reading specialists, and resource teachers.

You are very organized and your classroom looks great! It seems like you've purchased a lot of things for your class. Does your district give you a spending budget, or is it out if your pocket? Do you have English language learners? I teach TK, 24 four year olds, about 1/2 are ESL students and I have an aide for 30 mins in the morning. Student day 8:00-2:15. You're students start too early for me. 7:20😬 Do you have a family of your own? That limits your time to prep your classroom everyday. Thanks have a great year!

I think they were just letting you know that she already addressed why she messed with her hair, so if you're curious you can look back at her video and she explains why. That comment just came off rude and I'm sure you knew what you were doing by saying that.

Desiree Jenn don't make assumptions, because I actually wasn't trying to be rude, I explained I do like her videos and again, I'm obviously watching them because they are creative and interesting. A point being made doesn't mean I was trying to be rude so please don't try and say that I was well aware of it because it wasn't my intention.

Take it easy. No one is being rude, EXCEPT for you! In fact, your comment was rude and you wouldn't be reacting the way you are unless you knew it was a rude, stupid comment. Trolls always act the same, make an a*hole comment and be on the hyper defense when someone even replies. Girl bye!
