Im a one week noob, starting with worm hole explo. Yesterday found a data site i Never Seen before. Hacked the First Container, got around 90 Million worth of stuff, nearly lost it in Chat, moved on to the second one, got destroyed while hacking, nearly freaked out, thanks for helping me understand what happened 😂 btw love this game already!
great video ! although i would recommand using a cargo scanner and only go for one can, at least in wh as you can drop an implant bpc which is worth a crap ton of isk (around 3 bil)
Agree. You managed to hack two cans, but I think it’s more lucrative to scan the contents of all five cans then hack the most valuable one. The differently named can is a little more likely to have better loot, but I’m afraid it’s not 9/10 … nowhere close 😊
Hard disagree. The timer on these sites can be so short that by time you've scanned all five cans you don't have time to hack a single container. Accept RNG and just grab SOMETHING.
The fact they are lucrative is that I got two sites with one can in each site containing 450mil of loot. So yeah, run them when you can. Use cheap Heron or similar ship, you will never feel it if you die...
Thank you so much, I watched your video and came across one of these sites today, decided to try it out, thinking I could afford to lose my cheap heron anyway. Took your advice of not to spend too much time doing cargo scan, and sticked to the first container, which was luckily worth 240m isk. I got pretty lucky with the hack too, just found the core without triggering any defense. And as soon as I had the loot, i warped my shit out immediately. Really appreciate your advice 😊
I just started out in EVE online, I cannot believe this was my very first actual data site after doing the training missions. wasn't even able to hack anything and I was disappointed, then the blood raiders showed up and I'm like, oh no, no no no, this is bad, this is really bad. Got obliterated to bits, but my pod survived, then I warped the hell out of there but realized I could salvage my ship, however, the site was no longer on the map after I checked (Guess I missed the explosion lol). Realized the whole ordeal after this video. This game is an absolute blast and this was quite the thrilling experience!
lost my heron and gear to a ghost site cuz i didnt pay attention to the name(was happy asf cuz it was my first real data site). able to go back and take loot from cargohold tho(10x wheels) profit around 3mil(was in highsec and heron loss was -600k) kinda fun ngl.
The explosion damage is about 6000 points per can in high sec; it goes up in low sec and a lot more in null/ WH sec (up to 12k damage per can). Point is it’s readily tankable in high sec… just fit lots of buffer and an explosive hardener - A Stratios can easily manage with a couple of 1600 plates (offline high slot weapons if necessary to get it to fit). Then you don’t need to run away - you can try to open all the cans, and laugh when the site blows up and you still have 50% armor. The rats will do some damage too, then run away. To tank it in null you would probably need to be in a Nestor, and I doubt it could manoeuvre around all the cans fast enough. Gnosis might do (esp if shield/ armor/ hull triple tanked) You really want a bonused hacking ship, data analyser, prop mod and lots of buffer. Final point - if you fly to one of these sites, and find someone else already there, and aren’t buffer fit - then run away immediately as the clock is already running and you don’t know how little time is left.
If you have the ability, running these in a tanky Stratios with as much EHP & explosive resists is the best option - ideally with a friend, so you can clear all cans! Whenever I come across a ghost site, I just grab my Stratios and refit (hence the somewhat odd rigs; below). Yes, I've thrown on shield extenders/hardener too (it's free real estate & adds extra explosive tank). This ensures you can tank both an exploding can *and* the rat wave: it's completely random, but sometimes, only the can you fail explodes: [Stratios, Ghost Sites] Multispectrum Energized Membrane II 1600mm Steel Plates II Explosive Armor Hardener II Damage Control II Multispectrum Energized Membrane II Explosive Shield Hardener II Large Shield Extender II Data Analyzer II Large Shield Extender II 50MN Cold-Gas Enduring Microwarpdrive [Empty High slot] Covert Ops Cloaking Device II [Empty High slot] Sisters Core Probe Launcher Medium Explosive Armor Reinforcer I Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump II Medium Capacitor Control Circuit II Sisters Core Scanner Probe x16
I was doing one in my Stratios, and was too slow getting out, and survived!!! I had a tankish build, so plenty of ehp, I was scrammed/webbed etc by the pirates, but the moment they detonate the center which is there main focus, they all explode also!! :-) I was left with about half my hull still in tact. so fyi 🙂
Great information, if i have a tanky gnosis nearby, i will scan the site down and then bring the gnosis. Tanking lowsec is not a problem. The risk is somebody takes it wide you reship. I've missed a few that way. A note on the video, i found tree background music to be a but loud where it can make it hard to clearly hear what you are saying.
Ah...thought it was just me...I was going to ask as a user, is there a way I can increase the ratio of voice to background music.... Surely there's no truth in the rumor that there is a algorithm in EVE that does this: - connects to RU-vid over a specific port - is user an Alpha (ie me) ? - if "yes" then send an "isAlpha" flag - If isAlpha then increase ratio of background music volume to speech volume Reason ? Alphas don't need to know this......
Great guide. Did my first Ghost site a few mins ago. Got away with about 150 mil of loot. One small thing--the music is a titch loud in the mix. I'd drop it a few dB.
Lost a lot of ships initially but now do run them as soon as I notice them. In high sec I have a fully tanked nestor which can take the blows from the rats or exploding cans. Not adviced, stratios is more flexible but verry comfy. In wh its the opposite. When I scan one down I will strip my T1 explorer to only mwd and Data Analyzer, go back, hack the odly named can and fly out. Expect to blow up but am happy when it succeeds. Very cheap way of running these one with very low initial cost.
I now understand what happened the other day. A freaking fleet of ships showed up and a few seconds later as I was trying to escape them, I just heard an explosion and all ships and containers blew... Never quite understood what happened then. Up to today 😅
I've done plenty of lesser ghost sites, found in HS, and have managed to hack upto 4 cans a few times. Unless the mechanics of these sites have been changed the hidden timer actually starts as soon as you land on the sites grid, cloaked or not.
Interesting.. As I am edging into exploring.. Still new and so am getting a lot of the basic skills in to hopefully help me survive a PVP encounter a little easier. Also I couldn't quite finish watching the video. It seemed you were fighting to talk over the music. It just go to distracting for me.
I have done a couple of Coverts in hisec where I survived; one I did ALL the caches - because I was half asleep and didnt realise it was a covert until the bad guys landed just as I was warping out. The other I ran in a Praxis with an MJD; which I hit the moment I saw them arriving; then sat at 100KM shooting at them; however I dont think I managed to kill a single cruiser before the site exploded and they all warped off again.
What i experience ghost site if its not lesser one dont bother if u are not omega. I can make 1 sucessfull hack 7/10 times got the loot and bug off. Advanced and superior sites are prohibitedly hard for alphas so dont bother. (Since u dont have enought virus strength and coherence to blast trough the minigame.) also a little correcting if you fail the hack and the can explode and u survive it u still have around 3-6 second before cruiser arrive and since you are explo u shoudnt have more than 3 sec aling.
Actually if you know what you do you can hack like 95% of containers as a 80/25 virus, its really not that bad. But yeah, as omega you almost never fail the hack and can waste less time looking for powerups in dire situations
Here is my little setup! I'm able to scan up to C5 altough a bit slow to scan things. I always have my spread sheet open with notes on which sites to avoid and keep scanning. When I see someone else I bail out, then come back later on. Worked my little naming convention for exploring and having a great time! Your videos are helping quite a lot, thank you! Alpha only for now. Also, everybody is saying to scan the cans and then hack. First, go for the can that is named differently... Then while you are hacking that one scan others... If you are skilled enough, you can hack can in less than 30s, which gives you enough time to go to the next most profitable one.
I love ghost site. Low sec gas sites have a special can that guarantees a blue chip. Doesnt get blown up after the rats come either. Edit, the rats can show up as early as 30 seconds. 2nd edit, I have really good luck running these sites in the stratios. A t3c would also do great. Can survive it all.
Yesterday i went into them without knowing about them, hacked one, got 60mil, went to hack second one, enemies warped in so i got scared and wanted to warp out BOOM instant death xD Check zkillboard and i seen much tankier ships that got 1 shot by the explosion
I suppose an explo frigate fleet could clear the site. I'm also curious about what loot could be got from the defending rats, if a tanky enough ship could be brought in to kill them. This is a very comprehensive guide though, I can't think of any info useful on these sites that you haven't covered
In the past, ships that showed up in ghost sites didn't give anything except a thrashing. Years ago mind you maybe it changed. In my return I haven't retried them.
They also don’t hang around for longer than a minute or so. At most you might take down one or two. Would be fun to hit the site with a small fleet and massacre the lot of em when they turned up, if only for the kudos…
Ran my first one last night and took a Magnate instead of usual Anathema to minimize risk. Vault had 88m and by the time I got on second can they warped in and insta-popped me. Saved wreck location to see if anything salvageable - just a 1 run BPC (~30m) 😢. DO. BE. FAST. 🏃🏻♂️
@@captainbenziehaha no that was the estimates of Vault can as I hit Loot All. Knew not to waste time scanning. But should have left after looting that first one. 😢
Is it just me or are ghost sites the buggiest thing ever? I start a timer as soon as I decloak and a lot of the time the rats spawn at around a minute, it's super frustrating.
Hey Captain! 😀👋 What do you think are the chances we get these in Eve Echoes? 😅 Currently we have a sneaky suspicion that Exploration is now being botted too?! 😒 We have an issue where they're systematically running around emptying the sites of the best loot, and leaving the site with the crap gear. Because they didn't finish it, it stays in system, preventing new spawns elsewhere. This leaves the site for someone else to clean up, for no profit. Instead of Netease trying to ban bots, how about making the content itself unable to be botted in the first place! 🤓 I know right, Netease. However, if you could possibly send word to CCP on our behalf (as I know you have buddy, you're not fooling me 😏) we can hopefully get something 'Netease similar' in Eve Echoes, that the botters can't bot! That would be great, and ghost sites seem a helluva lot more interesting than what we currently have! ❤️🔥 Thanks again for everything Captain, and some of us know the truth! You were always right, and you are missed! ❤❤❤ Fly aggressive o7
It would be lovely to have these in Echoes, but... alas, it will never happen. Same for "non-bottable" content in Echoes. If they make it un-bottable, how do they sell you an AI core that can automate it? Sorry bro, verdict isn't good. The Chinese Server just got a massive new game changing event (which is, admittedly, awful) but no sign of it on global. Global is officially the "secondary" server now. Remember when they promised that Chinese and Global would remain identical except for a few culture specific events? Yeah, another promise broken that hints of the Global Server being wound down.
Hey Captain, great content as always, thank you! The music got annoyingly loud when you got to mid and low slots, but I think that was unintentional. 🫡
