In this second episode of Harlen's journey, he shares his experience in prison, learning the history of Native American rights within the prison system, relying on spiritual guidance to get him through his six-year sentence, and expressing his gratitude to those who stood beside him through this chapter of his life. Join us on location at one of the Navajo Nation's at National Monument Canyon De Chelly as we dive deeper into Harlen's turning point in his life and why it changed him forever.

this world is so treacherous for so many.. the gift of the landscapes are stunning, calm, peaceful and encouraging.. earth is genuine.. she is authentic.. she holds no nefarious agendas.. our spirit souls are meant to soar.. i too was incarcerated.. my struggles were epic and now i too, am just being me now.. away from all the abuse i suffered thru at the hands of my “family”, to a place now of safety and nurture.. walking on the land is so healing.. connecting with Creator.. giving smiles away for free but maintaining boundaries too.. great interview and a genuine, forthcoming gentleman.. the Reservations are such complex places of serenity, beauty, traditions and downfalls.. the collective trauma is so deeply imbedded from which they are still actively and partly unconsciously, healing from, generation after generation.. Native American drumming and spiritual songs always move me to tears.. his Family standing there waiting for him with the Eagle Feather 🪶 and open arms, brushing him down.. how absolutely absolutely fierce and beautiful… how fortunate for him.. i had none of that.. but, somehow i have crawled through.. thank you for reading my comment and offering a safe place to share and heal.. ❣️🪶❣️🪶❣️🪶

We appreciate you sharing some personal history Lesley. There is underlying trauma that is instilled within most community members and is hard to recognized unless you have been through the same experience. It's interesting that you picked up on it. I hope you too continue to find peace and balance in life in your own journey but we're glad that you find our online community a safe place for healing. It was our intent to create an online community but you sharing your personal history gives it much more meaning then we ever intended. Have a great evening and week! Take care

Dang, I cried when he talked about his mother, holding the feather to cleanse him. Bless her for that. Mothers can be so precious to us, not always perfect, but you were created in her womb and that binds you forever. Hey, my dad used to call us kids knuckleheads, haha, old school!

Yeah, that was a powerful moment to be there in person. It was something we understand as kids to a loving mother and as parents. Much appreciate the support for Harlen & watching his series! 🤙🏾🙏🏾

This was such an amazing video. All I can say is thank you Harlen for sharing your experience with us. I'd love to visit Navajo Nation and create a documentary to share with my audience. If anyone has any connections they can refer me to I'd be very appreciative!

When you asked Harlen that question of “Why do you think your here ?” I was like… BOOM 💥 !!!! 🙏🏽❤️
@Spagoshi
@Spagoshi 2 месяца назад
Sometimes that question is never asked or have been on their mind. Whether it's a good life or a hard life, we rarely ask ourselves "why are we here?" It's a good reminder of looking back on our journey and see why we ended up here. It's also a great writing exercise and flush out your journey.

I know what it means to have a brother incarcerated. I was the only family member to visit my brother who did 15 yrs. Much heartache and loneliness for a loved one. Now my brother is doing well and rebuilt his life and owns a house in the a big city. He is remarried and has a good full-time job. Yes, if he can do it, anyone can rebuild his/her life. Much luck in the future for this man in the vlog.

The sad part about the Dine people and other's are the struggles with drug's and alcohol that destroy a lot of families and the stories of missing indigenous women is they are either desperate for help and get taken they are to trusting of other's and look at Betty Lee she just wanted a ride and it cost her her life God bless the Dine people

I remember the Betty Lee murder, that took place early 2000 correct? It was a horrible murder. Ahe' hee for your support, I'll look up the article related to the murders. Thanks for the reminder.

Ok, found the article and the system in NM and San Juan County is a joke. The murderer had a serious history of murders that were targeted towards Dine' and they didn't approve the death penalty. www.daily-times.com/story/news/crime/2019/06/29/convicted-murders-have-death-sentence-vacated-nm-supreme-court/1601638001/
