Music video by Survivor performing I See You in Everyone (Live in Japan 1985). (C) 1985 RCA Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment #Survivor #ISeeYouInEveryone #Vevo #RockAndRoll #VevoOfficial
Jimi Jamison's vocals make this easily one of THE all-time greatest songs that most people have never even heard. What he does with his voice on this song is absolutely ridiculous!
Agree.... but, the city of Memphis, where Jimi was from, has honored him in several ways recently --- a few years ago, they named a street after him, then in 2022 , the Hard Rock Cafe dedicated a bust (statue of head & shoulders) to him in a permanent display, as well as one of the jackets he wore, & then just this year in October, he was posthumously inducted into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame. So Memphis definitely loves Jimi, & hasn't forgotten him. Jim Peterik, the co-founder & writer of most of Survivor's songs, as well as quite a few for other bands, has been inducted into the Illinois Rock Hall of Fame. But I agree, I think the band as a whole should be in the main Rock & Roll HOF.
@@litlredhenI feel so sad, because I was born in 1980, so when Jimi joined survivor I was 4 or 5 years old, i couldn't enjoy his music in the 80s, but not in the 90s either, when I discovered if I had heard the song eye of the tiger, but I was never interested in finding out who sang it or anything, until one day I saw the video of burning heart, and when I saw Jimi sing, I swear it was as if he had enchanted me, I started looking for all his songs video, and it was very sad to find out that he had passed away, and I felt super bad to have discovered it after he died, I am happy that Memphis honored him the way they have done, , and believe me, there are many people in the world who love Jimi eternally, I am from the Caribbean, and I have never visited the USA. For me it is a pleasure to see and hear him sing, he will be forever in my heart 💜 .
@@litlredhen Thank you for the information! I agree they all should be in the Rock and Roll HOF. Jimi was always my favorite singer "back in the day", and he is still to this day. I own a lot of CDs, DVDs, etc., with Jimi singing and his voice is just so emotional and magical!
Jimi had an extrodinary voice. Their was something about him seemed there was a sadness. His band was great. It still angers me he wasn't inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame. He was a good soul as well.
Jimi was inducted into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame just last year (2023), Memphis has named a street after him, & the Hard Rock Cafe in Memphis has (finally) made a permanent display honoring him -- several of his friends & family had apparently advocated for that last one for years. I was at 2 of those events, not the street naming, but at least his home town is recognizing him. There's yet another event for Jimi coming up on March 24, 2024. Hoping to be able to attend that also. Jim Peterik, co-founder of Survivor, (as well as Ides of March & a couple other bands) & co-writer of most of their songs, was inducted into the Illinois Rock & Roll Hall of Fame a few years ago. But, I completely agree, Survivor as a whole, & all its members, should definitely be in the main Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!
@@litlredhen How good a street named after Jimi and in the Memphis Hall of Fame, well deserved, but Jimi is in the best place in which you can have a Person, he is in our hearts forever, 💝 he left us his music his beautiful voice and we will never forget him!
Not just in our hearts but now in heaven forever. I saw a post on one of these videos and it was awesome. It said, Jimi Jamison 2014 - Eternity. I loved that. Jesus is coming for us very very soon, so I know I will be seeing Jimi really soon. After I meet Jesus of course!
The quality of this recording, is amazing for 38 year old footage! I like to imagine Jimi went and made himself a cup of tea during the guitar solo 😁 Survivor have to be one of the most criminally underrated bands of the 80's in all it's incarnations in the decade.
I love almost every song Jimi sings. I have been listening non-stop to his three Survivor albums plus his personal albums. Great songwriting by Jim Peterik and Frankie Sullivan. Jim Peterik also wrote songs and directed Jimi's Crossroads Moment album. He is one of rocks best singers. So deeply missed.❤
As a Brit I don't think I have heard much, if any Perry stuff, but Jimi smashes almost everyone else out of the park, the only one even half close is Jon Bon Jovi
I recommend the First Target Album. Jimi was great years before Survivor. I am from Memphis and saw Target 3 times. Another good band he was in was called Cobra. He is a Memphis Legend. I miss those days Memphis had so many great local bands. Southern Greed is one of them.
Jimi Jamison has the voice that you cannot get out of your mind.every song you here will bring your mind right back from where you were at the beginning.its like you are haunted by his music and voice.👌👌👌👌👌👌👌💥💥💥💥🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸💫💫💫💫😜😜😜😜😜😜😜
Ikr!!!! This sweet song and his even sweeter voice was in my head all day👍👍👍💯💯💥🔥🎯 But, listen, Jimi, Alex Rose, and the list goes on and on. Back then, people actually knew how to sing and didn't need deep studio equipment to make them sound better like the people do today ☹☹☹😒😒😒
Man Franki could play that guitar ! And Jimi's voice is right up there with Perry ! One of the best rock bands of the 80s if there ever was ! 👍 🇺🇸 P.S. Sound just as good Live ! That says a lot. They belong in the R&R HOF just as much as the bands in there now.
I think Steve Perry was a little jealous of Jimi Jamison, he was exceptionally good looking and such a powerful phenomenal voice. I liked Survivor better. They should have been inducted into the Hall of Fame. They were more than good enough. It is a shame that it did not happen R.I.P Jimi.....❤
@@user-zl3xs1cf8x Agree with you 100%. Jimi had the total package.... handsome looks and a great voice ! Yet, from what I understand from his band members and other people that knew him... he was very humble. He was truly a very exceptional front man an amazing voice ! 👍👍
@@bigdeal6852 That's what made Jimi Jamison great he had the whole PKG, but he never flaunted himself or put himself above others. Some let their talent and good looks go to their heads and beyond or some just walk away if they cannot gain full control of all decisions, their EGO becomes way over inflated...
Jimi Jamison was one of the greatest voices of rock music - powerful and passionate. He's one of a kind. Gone too soon. Rest in peace, my friend. See you on the other side. "Every night, a fleeting glimpse of candlelight Chases 'cross the atmosphere, but you're not here And I see the shape of moonlight on the cityscape But now the skyline wears a shroud ... I can see you standing in every doorway I can feel your heartbeat, I hear your voice And hiding in my shadow you're with me always."
Live performances dont get any better than this. The whole band were 'on it' and as tight as hell. Frankie completely got into the groove with the extended solo - amazing, spine-tingling stuff! RIP Jimi and Stephan
The irreplaceable Jimi Jamison!!😭A Rock Legend,2021 still listening every day!I love you Jimi and miss you!So SEXY! Rip,I hope to meet u on the streets of heaven!!!😘😎
Hi just came across your comment watching one of my favorite bands Survivor from back in the day brings awesome memories your name Stuck out because Toth was my dear Grandfathers name I miss dearly he passed away way to soon We had our Grandmother for 20 more years remember him always cursing at her in Hungarian Lol she was Polish she taught us the nice songs words in Polish miss doing the Chadash dont know if it spelled correctly but Im sure you know the dance Take care just curious did Survivor ever play a concert in Hungry most likely in Budepest? Thankyou😊
One of the more underrated vocalists of the 80's. As good live as he was in the studio - and that's something you don't see a hell of a lot of... and a magnificent solo by Sullivan there, he rocked the hell out of that!
I saw Survivor around the time of this recording. Along with Survivor was Loverboy and Eddie Money. The concert was awesome but Survivor BY FAR had the best sound system of all three bands! Even at high dB's the sound was crisp and super clear!!They seemed to really take pride in the sound of their music. I love bands that perform onstage the songs as they sound on the recording and Survivor met that 10 fold!! That sweet solo was off the RAILS!!! What talent!
This band so very much deserved to be inducted into the music 🎵🎶 Hall of Fame. They were one of the best that rock had to offer and many of us listen to their music to this very day, 30 years later and they have not faded to their numerous Fans. RIP to Jimi Jamison and to any other Survivor member who may have passed on. Jimi was young at 64 and was still singing His heart out just a couple months before His sudden passing... ❤ I'm about 9 yrs younger than the Survivor members, I was born in 1959. Survivor was my top favorite, and then Kansas, and Jefferson starship, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac.... ❤ RIP Jimi Jamison ❤
Jim unfortunately beat us to it a few days after his 63rd birthday. He still sang great, I loved Jimi. When I joined the band survivor I was 4 years old' but it is never too late to meet a great artist and make them the favorite. I loved everything about Jimi and it's still like that.💖
The look and the feeling of the 80's in addition with the emotions of this song including the "one of the best guitar solos of all time" is absolutely amazing. I can't describe how much I love it! Thank you for this Masterpiece, Legends!
This is one of the most tasteful and musically satisfying guitar solos I have ever heard. Its not how many notes you can fit in, its all how you use them in context of the song.
@@jonathansantos1079 I'm a huge Jimi Jamison fan and saw him several times in the 90s. I can see you liking the quality of his voice better, but live performance vs Steve Perry is a tough one and like I said, songwriting is no contest.
Oh but Jamison was also a songwriter on the albums that he participated from the beginning (Vital Signs was complete when he joined the band). It's good to know what we're talking about.
@@Sisyphoskafrillion I'm well aware Jamison was a songwriter on When Seconds Count and Too Hot too Sleep. I had said he wasn't anything close to being a major songwriter, not that he had no involvement at all. He was involved on mostly album tracks, other than Man Against the World. Also, Jim Peterik wrote virtually all their songs, with minor contributions from Sullivan and Jamison. Steve Perry, on the other hand, was the driving engine behind the songwriting on most of Journey's songs.
What a voice! Too much talent gone way too soon. Takes me back to the great 80's. Seen these guys several times tour with REO and Styx clear up into the late 90's and early 2000's they still rocked it. Jimi's voice was smack on still.
Every Song you hear from Jimi Jamison from his heart to his Fans. Those Greatest Hits Songs and Albums. Once hear it got hear it over and over and over again. Be there in concert. Or live videos his Love in be greatest music artist. Fans Can Enjoy each song , Love Ballard Songs back in 1980s and though years . Rest In Peace. Forever in are heart of Love Songs ❤
Just happened for me too! I had fallen into a depression that I could not get out of. Last Friday while on a 700 mile drive I Can't Hold Back came up on my Spotify. Brought me to tears for reasons I don't even know. I have been bingeing his voice all day every day since then. I now feel hopeful, at peace, focused, and energized! I can't explain it. But I am thankful for the gift of his beautiful voice! ❤😊
Jimi Jamison was a sweet, gorgeous, singer songwriter that was like no other. His voice couldn't be matched! When I heard Vital Signs for the first time I was hooked! Survivor was amazing!!
I love the recorded version, but this live performance improves upon the recorded version by leaps and bounds! Everything about it was magic, especially Frankie Sullivan's epic solo! Survivor is one of the GOAT rock bands! WHO'S WITH ME?!
I played this when my nephew visited , it blew him away, and what a guitar solo, very under rated singer and group. What great songs they made !! I'm with you !!
Their songs are the best, their concerts were great, Jimi's voice is the greatest, Eye of the Tiger is really iconic. Survivor is the greatest and most underrated band of all time.
Bei diesem Song bekomme ich immer noch eine Gänsehaut. Eine meiner Lieblingsbands der 80er. Danke für dieses wunderbare Gitarrensolo und die großartige Stimme von Jimi.
I liked his singing in all the songs but this is also my favorite. the beginning just grabs me and I have to turn it up as loud as possible, this is so special
Every single time I listen to the whole guitar solo I feel really moved inside. Simply beautiful. There should be an "I freaking love this video" button.
Again and again I see you in everyone who have really cared and understand of what challenges that I have to put up with lately and this song really means so much to me from way way back when it came out. I'm just so blessed by the words of this song that just makes me keep on going when times gets tougher and tougher for me, it just means that I have to keep on keeping on as many people have told me...Amazing Amazing song and voice of Jimi Jamison who have inspired me through his songs. I will always cherish them in my heart and soul forever and ever. I miss you Jimi. I know that you are looking down from heaven above watching us listening to your awesome and inspiring music that you have made.
what a beautiful comment yes Jimis voice Frankies guitar playing he looks so young here or is it where that old grew up in the 70s 80s wish I can go back but just have to keep pushing foward in this difficult time we live feel bad for the kids of today Gen xers 👍👏✌🌻🤗😊
This is my favorite song by Survivor Jimi puts so much of himself in his songs but I love the lyrics and the soul he gives us he is in a league of his own
I was born one year after this, but it will last until my last breath. This song gave me a lot and reminds me a lot. Especially this concert version. Rest in peace Legend. Thank You!
Every night, a fleeting glimpse of candlelight Chases 'cross the atmosphere but you're not here and I see the shape of moonlight on the cityscape But now the skyline wears a shroud I hear your voice in every crowd Listening for your footsteps in every hallway Watching for your headlights around the bend I can see you standing in every doorway Out in the street, in every glance I see your reflection, I fall in a trance Cant' you see what you have done It's making me crazy, I see you in everyone Day by day, I watch the memories slip away And traces of reality come back to me Then I see your face, somewhere in a distant place The fantasy has gone too far -- I close my eyes and there you are I can see you standing in every hallway I can feel your heartbeat -- I hear your voice Hiding in my shadow you're with me always Out in the street, in every glance I see your reflection, I fall in a trance Can't you see what I've become I see you in everyone, in everyone Cant' you see what you have done In the night I see your eyes From every direction a different disguise You can't know what you have done It's making me crazy, I see you in everyone
Immediately followed by the solo that _should_ have taught Japan what a solo is. And before anyone calls me a racist for that... J-pop. Need I explain further?
The words to this song is hauntingly beautiful ❤️♥️. Jimi I see you in everyone 😂😂😭😭. When l hear you sing this song it touches my heart and soul. I always Loved this song. But after you left us it felt more heartfelt. God only knows how much I feel deeply about your departure 💘💘. If only I could turn back the hands of time. You would still be here on stage rockin and rolling like you still should of been. You left so much unfinished and undone. I do see you in everyone. I can still cry a river over you 2020 . Jimi jamison forever
Jimi Jamison was a handsome genius. The best singer in AOR history with Survivor. Survivor always had something special about them that separated them from the rest of the pack. They had Jimi Jamison and let's not forget Dave Bickler his predecessor. They had brilliant songwriting and musicianship. They could sound even better live than their perfect records and that's really amazing. As someone who always looked a bit like Jimi I related to him. I related to and believed in Survivor and I still do. The loss of Jimi hit me right in the heart and in the soul. It tore my heart out and for now until I know not how long I've lost the good feelings that were there in my soul. Jimi's death contributed to my horrible state of mind and body. So did losing Michael Jackson and heroes you've probably never heard of. The 21st century is a nightmare. There is war and destruction and death everywhere and where is love!!!!! I wanna know where love is because I know what it is and it ain't there in people anymore!
What Survivor had that was different, Special and separated them from all those other bands in the 80’s was simple: They had Jimi Jamison. A beautiful stage presence. A voice like no other. Humble. Kind. One of the most beautiful faces I’ve ever seen. And when he sang, you felt every word. He had a Heart of Gold, I miss him every single day of every single week of every single month of every single year since he went to Heaven. 💔💔💔
