OK, this is gonna be weird. I lost my husband several years ago to brain cancer. He was 37 years old. He was a Bigfoot enthusiast. I don’t know any other way to say it. He was such a brilliant guy, very logical, very skeptical, but he sure did love the idea of Bigfoot. He also loves Survivorman. Whenever these episodes pop up on RU-vid it always feels like a little visit from my husband. He truly was the sweetest, most wonderful human being and I really appreciate these episodes.

Please do a second season of Survivorman Bigfoot.

I am glad you are posting this. I was a child in the mid 1970's and had my encounter under the Old Abandoned Chairlift below The Cut on Grouse Mountain BC. Me, my Twin Sis,Bro and two friends went on a cloudy summer day to bike to the bottom of the lift on Skyline Drive and hike up the mountain (free range kids).So we knew about bears,cougars,coyotes but what happend next was different. We got up 1/4 of the way and from my recollection we all saw something tall,hairy, lean run lightening speed from one side of the path to the other. It was like maybe 1/2 mile up from us. We just looked at each other knew it was a Sasquach and started running down the mountain trying not to fall and wouldn't you know it ran in the bushes beside us. We couldn't see it because of the dense bush but we heard and saw the trees snap and break.Then it darts into the path at the bottom of the hill stands there and disappears into the bush filled entry way. We decided we had to follow and went as a group. Nothing. Our bikes were where we left them. We did a bike recon of the old building that used to be the ticket booth and nothing. My sister and I talk every now and again about it so yeah it's real.

Would pay money if a second Bigfoot series was done les! This is so good.

I love these bigfoot episodes. Lots of RV campers and urban "experts" have judged you for these over the years, but anybody who has been in the wilderness for long periods of time understand what you were doing. I've woken up in the middle of the night, in a lean-to, and have been absolutely terrified for no reason at all... The woods contain a lot of mystery, and MOST people never go beyond the edge of paid campsites, and have no idea what might be lurking just outside the light of the campfire.

These Director’s Commentaries are priceless. They add so much to the original episdoes. Thanks for taking the time to do these.

Please do more bigfoot videos. I love the survivor man series and have the utmost respect for how you go about creating your videos and teaching along the way. It has helped me more than I can say when I go camping here in Florida. But I gotta admit that the bigfoot videos that you've done are amazing. Your application of logic, common sense, overall knowledge through experiences you've gone through add to the mystery of bigfoot.

35:00 was an absolutely perfect little rant that is actually relevant to almost every field. Total respect for anyone dedicating their life to a passion, regardless of what people think of your views. Great series les, amazing!

Love your no-nonsense/skeptical-but-curious approach to this subject Les. SINCERELY.....Sadly this field has long had too many loons for most to take it seriously but your honest objectivity, taken from experiences that you yourself cannot explain, brings a MUCH NEEDED authenticity that is soooooo welcomed by many like myself who are equally fascinated by the subject. What makes you the Defacto authority, in my opinion, is your lifelong experiences living in some of the worlds most remote regions where most of us wouldn't last a day. To hear something and almost immediately recognize it as a squirrel, branch, bobcat, Fox, Bear can only come with spending many years exploring these remote forests. I think I speak for many when I say that I sincerely hope you continue in your quest for answers here as so many of us either don't have the balls, means or knowledge in which to spend weeks in these remote regions that you call your 2nd home. Keep up the GREAT work because we're all better for it...

These are my favorite Les videos, hands down.

I appreciate that Les talks about his feelings when out in the woods. I think a lot of people coming from the Western rational based perspective tend to discount them because they're not objective. We have to realize that our ancestors developed for eons in a world before our Western rational based perspective taught us to differentiate from those things. We have those feelings as a warning from a deep and ancient place in our DNA. I have personally had some experiences deep in the woods that I cannot explain. I am very comfortable out there and have had experiences with all the "known" creatures in the Sierras, Northern Rockies and Cascades. I don't know what I was reacting to both times, but it was the same feeling, and I didn't have those feelings with the known critters. On one occasion I heard 3 distinct wood knocks. I did not see or smell anything, but I was very creeped out and one of the experiences was solo hiking in the middle of the afternoon. The other time I was cutting firewood with a running saw as dusk was approaching and had clear vision in a select cut that had been recently logged, for hundreds of yards until the thick woods. I did not notice any beings hiding behind the remaining trees, but they were all tall and had no branches near the ground, so there were no other obstructions. I also love that Les goes into the feelings of how the mind works at night. I have had the same thoughts out there. You can really let your mind get the better of you in the dark if you let it.

I agree with most. Your sasquatch series are some of the best I’ve ever seen. I really hope you do more. Who knows, maybe some of the other legends of the woods also. Your bringing back some of the respect this field deserves.

Les, I was so excited when a person of your wilderness credibility took on this topic long ago. Since that time you have not let us down in any way. Your respect for this topic & for those who continue to try to bring the truth to light is another testament to your professionalism. - Thank you! Along with the more accepted credible accounts, you have met and showed us some of the more,......unique individuals that may not really have the topic as their priority, however, you still gave them the benefit and let them tell their story. (how you maintained composure sometimes was amazing) On the other hand, the people collecting the "real data", like you are going over in this video commentary with little side stories, are so lucky to have your feedback, insight & support! (triggered by comment about how a smart creature that lives in the wild would not be fooled by a Grouse with a camera in its chest) Lastly, thank you for bringing up the topic of Tech and how it can be used, as well as, how it fails. As a hunter myself, I agree, Scent is what nature runs on. Humans are very visually tuned into our surroundings and I guess that is why we keep trying to get everything on camera. However, every piece of tech has a smell! NASA has an entire team that works on keeping the smells to a minimum in our space adventures, because they can become quite overwhelming in such small quarters; even to Humans who cannot smell worth a crud. Once any animal associates a smell with "Don't Go There" that smell is a red flag that can no longer be used. However, many of those smells we as humans are not even aware of. Also, animals can see light wavelengths that people cannot. Who knows what frequencies a Bigfoot can see? Yet, so many people think that since we cannot see the beams of light coming from our fancy night vision cameras that nothing else can either. Lastly, I love the fact that so many people shrug off "95% Humanoid 5% other", when they are taught "Chimpanzees are genetically closest to humans, and in fact, chimpanzees share about 98.6% of our DNA." I love that you're doing your own thing, asking questions, searching for answers. It's one of the characteristics that define you as the real-deal in a world of wannabes, Mr. Stroud!

Dealing with moisture in the camera lens...vintage Survivorman, ha! Love it! Really appreciate the commentary and very grounded/well-thought out opinion on working with people in the Sasquatch community such as Todd Standing, wish more experts could approach it as you do Les.

I really think anything you want to bring the fans along on - most would enjoy it because it feels like we know you in some fashion. I would love to see a whole SERIES of Les sitting with people telling their encounters and he doing his normal thing - question with respect! I love the stories from the people, so compelling! Todd’s legit. Anytime someone tries to debunk his videos they make themselves look silly. Science don’t lie and there’s plenty scientific evidence but like you said it’s not excepted as evidence.

These are some of my favorite shows as well! Finally, someone taking a look into this with a clear head and as a true sceptic, but willing to believe what they see and/or know to be true. I can't wait to see the film where you go back to retrieve the lost audio recorder!!

Am I the only one who could live , gladly live with Survivor Big Foot editions ALONE period end of sentence.

I went camping w/a Squatch enthusiast and my girlfriend caught him setting up a hoax, but we played along to see if he was going to say "gotcha" but he didn't. Afterwards I confronted him and asked him why, he tried denying it but after arguing for days he finally admitted it and said he did it because "he KNOWS they're real so it's not really a hoax because everything he did really happened at a previous time, so he wanted us to believe him and short of seeing one he wanted to make us believe"... So, I don't know but I guess anyone that believes in something can JUSTIFY almost anything to themselves, which as Les says it just muddies the water on getting to the bottom of this phenomenon.

This was amazing. Been looking forward to this! Been loving all the directors commentary. Especially for this series. And delivered as promised;) Completely fascinating. Thank you. Keep em' coming!! (Radium was my first experiences with this phenomenon. Vancouver Island was the most profound and undeniable.)

The film of Todd fighting with a flair, I ALWAYS, wonder what happened after that. What I mean is, did the flair runout? Did he take off running down the mountain? Did they go away? Did he stay their if they did go away? I always wonder why he doesn't examine what happend. Same with the photos. Why didn't he keep filming these creatures? Its always 5 sec clips and seems like they don't continue to film until they duck out of the pictures . I do have to say one of the photos does look like a well trimmed beard and mustach.

Another great commentary! Watching it as it's raining outside. Very, very interesting, that Northern Quebec story gave me goosebumps. Thanks for this one Les!!

I was on Mount Monika in the mid 90's we( we being the marine corps) were on a three day hike to the top. We camped out a quarter way up. Our packs were in formation 12 in a column 4 wide. In the middle of a beautiful green landscape with the snow capped peak in the background. We stood fire watch in 1 hour shifts. About 3 in the morning everyone was asleep except for the fire watch when there was a large disturbance, something large and first grabbing packs and taking off. I grabbed for the NVG's (night vision goggles). What I saw was terror inducing. 4 to 6 large jet black wild hogs were stealing our packs and hauling ass for the woods. Super scary and funny as hell at the same time. The moral is you just never know. Lol . Les love the show man Sempi fi

you went out on a limb to make the first Survivor seiries,then stumbled on to the whole Sasquatch thing. and became the world's coolest down to Earth hero with a huge following. Love these directors commentaries. especially this one. thanks Les.

Hi Les! My fiancé and I just discovered your show on RU-vid... The episodes where you are investigating the existence of Bigfoot... and we are hooked! We are binge watching it. Though I am a firm believer in Bigfoot I love your approach to it: you keep an open mind but with a healthy dose of skepticism, which is absolutely necessary when trying to investigate something that you neither believe nor discount. It's very admirable and I like the way you treat people that you work with during your investigations...i.e. Todd Standing (I hope I got his name right). You had some questions on some of his claims but from what I saw you never treated him with anything other than complete respect, while not patronizing him by just pretending to believe and go along with it when you were dubious about something... instead you challenged him. I wish more people (including myself!) could approach things with the seemingly perfect balance between keeping an open mind while careful not to fall victim to confirmation bias or anything like that.

Whatever you do... wherever you go... if you are at least minimally balanced, you see what Les Stroud has to say about it. The perspective you bring sir, serves as a mind opening and education. Everyone is due their own opinion, but if you are fair, you learn all you can, and that's why I'm here. As for your music, never stop my friend... your message is so extremely vital. Thank you for all you do. Appreciate you!

What’s great is later Todd said at the time, off air, the sasquatch do sit on you playing while your asleep.😄Idc what anyone says, Todd has become a very good person and he’s always been an honest man. It’s amazing what they did while les was there. They like him for sure.

Be careful you might get more than you bargained for... Once you're on their radar you never get off. House slaps, thrown trees/rocks, missing livestock, tree breaks near home, or just the occasional 2minute roar that makes grown men soil themselves. Much respect towards these beings I would suggest and tread lightly. Oh yeah they also know "mind speak" Have a nice day 😊

Hey Les, these commentaries are great and it really does feel like were sitting together discussing your trip. Although you're doing all the talking, that's the way it should be and with me asking a few questions, or providing my two cents worth, which is exactly what I'm doing now. Man, you are showing a great deal of reluctance on siding with Todd, but that's understandable. He's either motivated by money or sincere and hell-bent on preserving what he considers a legitimate endangered species. It's just really hard to tell but his insistence on calling what might have fallen from a tree leaf or branch, something thrown by bigfoot well, that's really suspect. If he's a fake and motivated by money, having you endorse him would bring ultra-high credibility and thereby bring in huge sums of money on expeditions, group, or individual adventures to see or hear a sasquatch. You're staying neutral and rightly so, and that's because the guy is so convincing that he actually might be legit. So regardless of the outcome, you're not threatened in any way and not fully endorsing him and actually leaving room for acceptance. Genius, and still the man of the wild, and the best survivorman series on TV. Keep the shows coming and thanks for the commentary and expert advice. However, continued investigation and additional Bigfoot episodes would be great! Fan forever!

Not sure if you even read all of these, because there are so many and you’re probably pretty busy with all that you do, but I must agree with others, I love the “Directors Cut” episodes! I had an experience long ago in the late ‘70’s’ when I was a teen, never gave it a thought until decades later when I heard about Bigfoot having this rock throwing thing…. I think back to that moment, around 1am, by myself, walking on a really nice summer night, I was up north in Michigan, upper/lower peninsula, and as I’m walking, on a dirt road, I saw a golf ball sized rock skipping along the road from behind me and going in the same direction I was walking… I stopped and turned around and of course, no one was there… but I had that feeling that someone WAS there. I shrugged it off and kept walking and then a bigger sized rock skipped past me again from behind, again, no one, but I had that feeling someone or thing was! I then got this urge to hurry the Hell up and go back to the cabin! In the area I was in, the county population back then was probably about 3000 people, more woods than homes, that’s for sure!

My father came up with a funny theory about bigfoot. He says they are Wookies, like from Star Wars. And maybe bigfoot is where George Lucas got the idea for Wookies lol

Long time fan, Les! Thank you for sharing your scientific, personal and cerebral journey to bring evidence based proof of the animal/hominid known as Bigfoot. So many have asked for a Season 2 (yes, please!) might I suggest an Himalayan based Yeti episode? Best wishes!

This episode is the one that made me realize what had happen to me, that I couldn't understand how, at the time that happen. Years later now , and on top of this I've learned so much more about them now , and still don't know how they do it, but I know they can, trippy shit man!!

I wasn't 100% sure I heard and felt bigfoot crash through brush like a rhino 25 years ago until I saw your Hoopa show filmed less than 60 miles away from me. And later from reading David Paulides book The Hoopa Project. You are the gold standard in your research and your work is spot on and very entertaining. Often imitated but never equalled. Just saying.

Survivor man has a great narrating voice, and I just discovered these episodes and I love the devil's advocacy and scientific methodology he takes in the approach. One favorite was when the S. Footprints we're faked and to see the scientists debunk it, it was really daring the actually do that to a scientist but at the end it gave them added respect for actually catching the fakes. I love the exploration and seeing parts of the wilderness that's way to far for me to see and or ever going , there's a lot of pre planning and the editing team is amazing 😍 n making these episodes shine and entertain. Thanks for all the hard work guys!! This was hilarious too, to see him finally get some relaxing time after putting himself through the excruciating pain he subjects himself out there, barolo, Guiness, well deserved!!

How have you not gone back there especially having a reason in getting the recorder left behind? I'm sure you've been busy with content creation but we would all love to see your return to this place. I dunno maybe take a fan out with you to experience it with a different perspective. A fan like the one tying this comment. I've watched everything you've done I'm pretty sure at least twice over but these directors commentaries I really enjoy the most. I like seeing how the sausage is made as they say. Hope to see more about bigfoot in the future. Or come to Wisconsin to track down our beast of bray road. Werewolf hunt. How fun is that idea?
