It is such a pleasure to go through these expeditions as I filmed them and bring to you the behind the scenes stories. IN many cases I haven't even seen some of these for years myself!

His absolute mastery as a survivalist aside, gotta acknowledge what an absolute class act Les is. Having the foresight to hold on to the rights of Survivorman when dealing with those TV network vultures was a savvy move, but uploading the entire series with additional directors commentary onto a public platform for free is pure class. Many others would have seen dollar signs. Cheers to a Canadian legend!

Remember, we are his income. By us viewing his videos and buying his books and CD's, he's making money. But I like how he's making money very selflessly.
@jenelaina5665
@jenelaina5665 Год назад
@@sonicbobomb15he is but this one only has 60k views... It is a smart move cause after binging them all I do want to buy the physical copy and books as gifts, but he's not rolling in RU-vid money. I'm sure it is a nice steady income and he's in the comments enough that I'm sure it's enjoyable to read the feedback you wouldn't get as instantly from TV or other streaming too.

The one episode where Les was genuinely concerned about his situation. That was a scary moment. This is gonna be a good one.

@foskco87
@foskco87 Год назад
@@deusvultpictures6550 The India one he looked genuinely uncomfortable the entire episode trying to watch his back. I felt bad for him. Basically just counting on pure luck because if a Tiger did come across him he probably wouldn't even know it. One moment you are alive and chilling, the next moment it has you by the throat and you can't do anything.

Yeah this was my favorite episode he did because of that. He got himself into a bit of trouble and started panicking just a little for a sec. But he kept it together and found a way down.

I can remember when this aired for the first time on on-demand. Whenever i saw an episode of surviverman labeled "new," i would get so excited I almost couldn't contain it. I can't remember the last time a TV show made me feel the same way. Such a captivating show, you are an absolute legend Les Stroud.

I can't stand when people complain about ads. It's kinda the point. It costs money to hire an editor, and it costs money for Les to take time to do these commentaries. As a youtuber myself, I depend on ads to get by, and they don't pay much anyway. Thanks, Les, you absolute legend

People who complain about ads, never dealt with cable TV! Thank you so much for making your content available on RU-vid. I was going crazy looking up all the different streaming services trying to find it, which is such a pain. Having everything here is very convenient, and easy for me to share with friends and family. Love everything you do. Thank you.

I will never complain about the ads. I usually watch the episodes (sometimes I am watching them for the third-fourth-etc time) while cooking. I sometimes skip the ads and sometimes I don't because I'm chopping something and I am very grateful for having this content on YT since it's not really available anywhere here.

it's also (most importantly) the one most likely to happen to us. I don't do a lot of open ocean dingy travel... so while I loved that episode it doesn't pertain to my life. But I live at 6,500 feet in Colorado. It was 75 yesterday and now we are getting several inches of snow this minute in mid May. Getting stuck in my car/truck is almost inevitable.

There's a couple of things that Les says that I'll never forget: First one is during the Kalahari episode when he was going through that awful heat exhaustion was if you have a wet towel don't put it around your head or face or things like that instead you wanna put it around your neck and your carotid arteries to help regulate the heat coming off your body. Secondly about the clear skies thing at night the temperature is going to drop, ever since I heard that, and when I look up at the night sky, in the back of my mind always goes back to what he said and its true, and lastly in a survival situation "If you sweat, you die." Obviously, there's more things that he says that sticks with me but ever since watching Survivorman since the mid 2000's those 3 things are the ones that stuck out the most to me. Thank You Les.

Les is right about moving when you can. I live in Buffalo, NY and this past November & December we got POUNDED by two of the worst snow storms ever in the city's history. Weeks later into January crews were digging out plowed in cars that still had bodies inside them. We lost 39 people, some were in their cars and others in their homes. Trust me it was no game- we can take a lot and can handle snowy weather, but this was too much for us.
@DeeHermanson
@DeeHermanson Год назад
Right you are. Snowy cold weather is the most brutal weather in my opinion
@Cavillier1970
@Cavillier1970 Год назад
@@DeeHermanson Cold & Snow are one thing, the amounts we got were a whole other matter. 6 feet of heavy, wetter snow in less than 24 hours is something else, especially with thunder & lightning. The thing also is when the officials put in a driving ban they're not screwing around. The police catch you and they'll come at you as if you were speeding near a school bus letting off kids. But I live between a hospital, fire station and police station. Les is right, a colder, drier snow is easier to deal with, even here.
@scottvarley3823

Dec '23 I got stuck in the snow 4 miles from my brother-in-law's house. I was talking his girls home and had missed the turn on a well used road and ended up going down an unplowed road. No cell signal, could barely call 911, cops got stuck on their way to us. It was 4 hours with 4 kids and two teens. If it was just me or me and the teens I probably would have walked to their house, but i had too many little kids. the engine was overheating a couple times so I had to throw snow on the oil pump to cool it down. Eventually my brother-in-law and some of his friends were able to come and rescue us and my wife, who had come looking. My kids stayed amazingly calm the whole time, I'm still proud of them

I've been watching your videos since i was a really young kid, and this has got to be one of the neatest things I've seen a person do with their own content. It really feels like sitting and watching an episode with you on a couch, like I get to hangout with a person who I really never knew but still looked up to. Very neat to be able to understand more of a personal nature without having to actually be a face to face or real time thing. So thanks I suppose, for all of the things you've done and made possible for me and all the rest of your viewers.
