The bridge 516, is a pedestrian bridge suspended with a 516m span and a maximum height of 175m, on the Paiva River in Arouca and thanks to its technology was considered as world record, although there is another with 567m in Nepal . At a distance I confess that there seemed to me high voltage posts, and I did not understand that it was a suspended bridge (I love bridges). It was March and I was on route to a Romanesque chapel near Castro Daire. Only in April I came to know what it was about. Viewed closely this bridge does impress , the structural transparency, and the landscape of the Paiva River.
It was designed in 2016 and the works began in 2018, and that same year began to be communicated as the world's largest pedestrian bridge in the world. Its length, the altitude of 175m above the Paiva River and the ability to endure with the weight of 2000 people simultaneously, form a set of unique characteristics in the universe of pedestrian bridges.
