There is no better choice as such if you observe carefully! The choice simply depends on the application. Let me explain! McPherson has a very simple construction as compared to A arms. Hence also more accessible, easy to install, repair and so on. These plus points work the best with passenger vehicles as they are mass produced. You need a simple construction, ease of access and such sort of properties here. Thus the McPherson works best with passenger vehicles. Also the suspension travel is not much in this case, the wheel assemble becomes easier, mounting becomes easier and many more advantages! Whereas with the A arms, they have much more load carrying capacity, more travel and better control on the wheel trajectory. These points play a great role in applications like off-road vehicles obviously light off-roads .. like atvs or light trucks and pickups. And if we go towards commercial vehicles, then none of these work due to huge loads. So you have to go with conventional leaf springs or nowadays most common air suspensions. Thus in summary, it depends on the application and being a vast domain, we should always think from the perspective of application while talking about automobiles. I hope you got your answer. Ping me back if you want to discuss something more!
Yes you can say that in a way. Because using double wishbone geometry we can get a better control on the expected wheel trajectory and thus improves aspects like comfort.
thanks for these videos it helps alot as my college course teachers legit dont even care about teaching and the only way I learn something is by doing research myself.
This video was fucking rad. Explained so clearly and concisely. You also had great energy throughout it and seemed really interested in the subject. Thanks for posting! 💪🏼
Really nice video. Very engaging and explains the basics of suspensions in a very lucid way. Please keep posting more such videos. Animation is cherry on the cake.
@AutoDecode Thank you so much for making this video! You have done an excellent job explaining the designs and functions of these suspensions. I really appreciate this as this was exactly what I have been trying to understand. I am subscribing to your channel and I wish you all the best for your future videos :)
Hats off Shaunak. Really really well presented. The best part I felt is this could be understood easily by anyone who is interested in automobiles. So well explained. Shall definitely watch other videos too. Good luck.
Dear Sir, could you share the presentation that you used, I would like to use that presentation in my own classroom. My students are not at all fluent in English so just playing your youtube-video is not effective in their learning process. Thank you very much, great material !
