The Stax 009 really sing with a Mjolner audio kgsshv carbon and I think even more so with the difficult to drive Stax 007 mk2 which some people prefer over the 009.
I had the sr507 they were bettered by the L700 even more so by the fuller sounding 007 mk2 and they were bettered by the SR009 with more detail and better bass definition .I kept the sr 007mk2 along with the sr 009 they are both great earspeakers the 007mk2 is warmer and darker than the very detailed sr 009 .It depends on my mood as to which i listen to .The Lambdas have a lot of fans but ultimately are a bit too bright for me and not as balanced as the Omegas [007 009 009s ] .The 007mk need plenty of power The Mjolner kgsshv Carbon is great and is designed for the 009 and the power hungry 007mk2 .
@@martinslocombe2288 now I had some days to test by many hours: sr404, sr507, l300, l700, l700mk2, sr009, sr009s, srx9000 and audeze crbn. For me the best is srx9000 and after this sr507. The sr009/s, l700/mk2 and l300 sounds very thin for me. I used 5 different energizers, even cheaps and expensive but i think the timbre is not the better. Also the treble in some songs gets peak in some tones. Maybe a lot energy. Cbrn sounds so similar to sr507 but the audeze has more gain in bass with some audible standing waves in bass. A lil awful. Srx9000 dont need presentation. The best combination for this for me was the mjolnir carbon cc. The problem is the price of both jjajajajaja. Now I am ejoying sr507 in my house and stax gave me l300 like a gift... but, i dont like it. L300 is the worst stax i have heard jajajaja For
@@dynamic-audio I found the 507s sound was lacking bass and suffered with the infamous "Stax Fart ", so much in fact i exchanged them but the replacement was no better i got used to it .Just dont eat or drink or even move your jaw when listening to music . I replaced them with the 007mk2 which dont "fart" along with the Mjolner kgsshv carbon .The consensus amongst most reviewers is that the l300 limited are the best Lambda they have the same driver as the l700 .
@@martinslocombe2288 is very strange or i am very lucky with my sr507: It does not have the "fart" and have a tons of bass. I feel the bass response nearly identical to my audeze lcd4 in quantity!! It has toooooo much bass.... I dont know what happen. I have never tried l300 limited, i have the poor version, only l300 jajajaj.
Im currently looking into a purchase of a dedicated headphone system with heavy weight contenders like the Susvara and 009 electrostatics with amplifier offerings of the likes of Woo Audios WA 33 or Woo Audio tube electrostatic amplifier including some top shelf solid state offerings . Though I’m a little hesitant before making any decisions of what is coming in 2022 with new headphones and possible revisions to current state of the art headphones . An example Holo Audio will be releasing a new amplifier voiced using the HiFiman Susvaras at 1/2 of the price of some of the top flight amplifiers currently on the market . I have listened to the standard addition Woo Audio WA 33 with Abyss 1266 though what turns me off is the price of JPS wired edition at $2K more including the added costs of select tubes where that price alone would buy a Decwares best headphone amplifier which has me wondering is the sound quality at over $10K more for a WA 33 JPS edition with select tubes be absolutely worth it, not likely,..Current wait time for a Decware headphone amplifier is 8-10 mouths ,. Anyway I apologize for rambling on I’m a new subscriber your videos gave me a few things to think about .
As you pointed out, the law of diminishing returns is definitely at play in audio gear. Is the Susvara 40 times better than the HE400i... nope, is it much much better than it... yup. Where we each draw that line is a personal decision. In many cases I find that I prefer a DAC, Amp, or headphone that is not the most expensive option. The Stax SR-X9000 vs hifiman SUSVARA would be a better comparison I love your videos keep it up because much closer to each other the HIFIMAN SUSVARA is is the most amp and dac and power demanding headphone on the market more demanding than the AB1266 PHI TC on ebay you can get a custom headband for the HIFIMAN SUSVARA and I believe there's numbers on the adjustments too and I would go with the HIFIMAN SUSVARA with dekoni choice leather earpads when they get around to making them but for now they have sheepskin and Apos Flow Headphone Cable or a GuCraftsman 6N Single Crystal Copper Upgrade Cable 4PIN XLR and then just buy an adapter's
I'm a Phi TC guy... Susvara may need more power as it has less sensitivity but Phi TC scales with more quality power and current. Throw a WA33, Viva Egoista 845, or Trafomatic Primavera at the Phi TC and Susvara and you'll see what I mean. Even if you go Wells Audio Dragon level 3 or Pathon Inpol ear you'll see crazy bass and scaling with Phi TC where the sus is more of the sameness.
They are more attractive in person than I expected from the photos. They also feel very solid. They don't have Meze Empyrean level of fit and finish, but they are much nicer to hold than the HE1000.
