Hello! Here is a quick video showing how I set up my 2016 Jeep Cherokee to go camping. Usually, all the pieces for this build are folded and in my trunk, I just pulled it all out to give my car a deep clean and figured I would film it. Hope it helps you brainstorm for your build!

Nice design! I thought the slide out from the main section was genius. I may do this for my KL Cherokee as well. I am going to look for those door/window covers too. Thanks for sharing Andrea.

@@fishindaisya5169 hey! I did this a while ago and don’t have the dimensions exactly. It was pretty much I bought plywood and cut as I went. I kept putting the wood in the car and cutting small amounts until I got it how I wanted it. Best of luck!

Just cram a travel sized suitcase plus your camp stove behind one seat, and two water containers behind the other...then lay futons over the top. Easy.

i got a jeep grand cherokee 2006 n i think its actually bigger than yours, a little, and my back seats actually open n fold down all the way flat. ive noticed a lotta ppls jeeps dont have seats that fold completely flat down. interesting.

Hey! Yeah the grand Cherokee is the bigger version of the Cherokee. If I ever get to upgrade I think the grand Cherokee will be my next car 😍

The Grand is much bigger! I have the Cherokee Limited. It was an upgrade from my old Honda Civic, but surprisingly, the interior size is about the same! I love it, but it is smaller than expected.

Thanks for the good video, really great simple design and well edited video. Also nice to hear some jazz music for a change on a RU-vid instructional video. I had a few questions, I noticed that the back area doesn’t fall down completely flat so that your wooden platform and the mattress actually end up having an uphill slope at one end. Does that work OK for sleeping? Also when I saw that too slots at the back and I thought you would have drawer inserts that slide into those. Curious if you have added a drawer system yet? They make some very good rolling crack systems that glide out you can also have a slide out table that access the picnic table off the backend. Just add a folding chair and you’re set.

Hey! So once I lay down, the seats compress so its pretty flat. I’ve never felt any angles. I did purchase a new car (and I posted a new video) and I need to fix it with the Rav4 because the seats are more at an angle and even though they compress I can feel it. And no I never did drawers. I’m gonna be making a new design for the Rav4, just havent gotten to it yet.

Do you have any blueprints or cut guide for the wood? This is absolutely amazing!! Does it ever get cold when you camp? Do you do anything to keep the heat from escaping?

Hey! Sorry no measurements, I did this design just by measuring and cutting as I went. I do have a new design coming since I’m taking a few trips this summer and there are a few things I want to fix! I’ll be better about writing down my measurements. Nope I’ve never been cold! Ive went car camping in Yellowstone/Grand Teton in early Nov this past year, temp was ~15F at night. We were in a ford expedition. We would crank the heat up a few minutes before bed then turned the car off of course. Left like 1-2in gap in windows for airflow (I actually took these mesh baggies with me for that!) It was two of us, we slept on a foam mattress, used sleeping bags, fleece blankets, and wore pants and socks. We actually got kinda hot - I ended up sleeping in shorts! We never used any heaters or anything, but having two of us in the car definitely helped. I would caution about using any propane heaters or leaving the car on. I’ve heard of people boiling water then putting them in water bottles and putting those in the sleeping bags. Good luck!

Yup! I have a little door mat I put in the floor outside. I use the back seats or the trunk but back seats usually have less clutter and I can stuff my shoes somewhere to grab when I’m getting out
