Are you building your own camper in a similar SUV? I wrote a guide outlining the exact details of my conversion! Maybe it can help - link.meganclaarke.com/suvguide ☺
Good evening Megan ! You done a great job on your build ! It’s nice to know you have a boyfriend who not only helped you, but also supports your dreams & goals ! He’s a fortunate man ! Bless You Both & keep smiling !
@@sofloflowit's not racist it's true as fuck, take is as a compliment. I visited america like 15 times and I live in Canada, there is a night and day difference. Again, not in a bad way, y'all are just living in irl GTA 5 hahahaha
Hello friends! I have returned to a regular posting schedule and am now rolling out videos from the building process. ☺ You'll be able to see more detail from each part of camper and what my experience was like. I am especially excited to share the solar and electrical system video - it is very thorough! I really appreciate the support on this tour video and am nearly monetized on RU-vid from it - you being here means a lot. 💕
Thank you for this video!! I just purchased a 2014 suburban and plan on starting a RU-vid channel and getting the tiny home conversion on video like you 💯💪
Nice to see you posting again. You might take a look at Patrick Remington RU-vid channel for a DIY privacy shower or bathroom curtained “pop out “ that you could attach above a rear passenger door. Adding a roof curtain to it could make for a dry entrance for taking off shoes, changing, etc. Looks relatively easy to make.
This is my dream, but i feel like I'm too old for it! This wasn't a big thing when i was younger, but i think it's absolutely wonderful!! Im 44. Maybe if i hurry, i won't be too too old lol!!
I’m just getting into this and I’m turning 65 in a couple weeks. I’ve been watching videos and studying products for about 3 months. I just bought my first few items for my Kia Sorrento. I’m super excited! I’m doing a no build set up because I want to be able to use my car and be able to have my grandkids in it at times. Go for it! This young lady has a great attitude and she’s clever! Very inspiring for me.
Hi Megan! Nice setup! Gave me some great ideas for my upcoming build in a Ford Expedition, so.. Thank you! Hope to see more of both your build and your adventures.
@Megan Clarke I haven't done anything but think/dream about it yet. I actually got sidetracked looking at motorhomes or van builds, saved a bunch of money to buy, and am now back to the original plan. Decided to give up space to keep the 4WD, as we had a record snow winter and the Expedition saved my butt for commuting.
@@gregblackett4330 That's how I felt about my decision. I am often outside of the camper while travelling anyway! Thinking about where you are in the process brings back fond memories from my own brainstorming period ☺
Good for you!! This is my dream and seeing this and that you don't have to have a camper or van or bus. You can literally do this out of an suv. I gotta work towards this and do some saving but I will get here! I can't wait to be on the road!! Safe travels sweetie! Keep bringing us videos! 😉
Just found your channel. I just started camping in my minivan. I heard coffee/tea in this video. :) Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Have fun. Be safe!
💖💖💖 Excellent video, thank you! Yes, I'd love to see your water and technicals setup in an expanded version. Stay safe out there and glad I found your channel!
I sure miss my Yukon! Retired for medical reasons only making 14,000 yr. I couldn't afford my car payment and put together 2800 dollars I bought it from a friend who was letting me use it to find a vehicle. Never had a truck this big or 4wd.I freaking loved it,268,000 miles it was good.It was stolen I still look for it on my bicycle!Old rusted it was dependable and easy to fix. Many things I fixed for free, having time but little cash I became resourceful.I also regret not buying a Winnebago for $500 That only needs brakes.Wasnt expecting losing my home job and wife .Now I know what people that are on a fixed income are dealing with.A more solitary life would be better for me.
Oh yeah for security purposes consider a 12 volt cattle fencer non lethal my dad had a pasture were he used one I got shocked more than once its low amperage high voltage hooked to your truck body it uses no electricity unless you touch the vehicle from outside turn it on from inside when you go to sleep it wont shock you inside , but turn it off before you get out, your setting on 4 rubber tires (insulators)but if somebody touches it while standing on the ground out side they will get a friendly shocking reminder why they should not touch it again it's about like grabbing on to a bare spark plug wire while the engine is running I had a friend who was geting stough stole out of his truck regular were he worked after the fencer that all stopped .
The great feature of the older Yukon or Chevy Tahoe, are the rear seats come out. The newer model have folding seats that take up the cargo space she has. Plus it doesn’t fold to a flat floor but angles higher on one end! Great job for using as a cross country road trip. Tks
One of my favorite builds. I found your journey and was looking for the ‘finished’ project (it’s always a work in progress with this lifestyle). I went from RV living for 5 years to recently buying a home but my original love was car camping. So, I’ve re-vamped my no-build build and getting an idea here and there for creativity, comfort, and practicality… then planning the trips and heading out. You incorporate numerous things on my list (or upgrades) and I loved watching you learn your way through the experience. Much appreciated, keep exploring, and happy travels!!
Thank you so much for sharing this. I am glad I could be a little part of your journey too. Some things like the little water pump to have running water make a big difference for comfort!
I love what you did! I’ve been spending hours learning all I can from people like you. I really want to have an isle like you have. I look forward to watching your videos and adventures!
Great DIY camper. I'm just starting to build mine. You have some nice and interesting solutions. Congratulations from Poland... and you are a very nice girl
You have a charming personality and a wonderful smile and the cutest personality you made a wonderful video I'll check out some more I am pretty much a old widower and I am building my rig now I'm not getting rid of the homestead but I do like the idea of extended travels and not being limited to when I have to come back you are giving me some great ideas God bless !!!
Wow - 'very impressive interior, well-organized. That SUV is also a lot more discreet than a van when it comes to parking. Hey, good news, Megan: your future self hasn't aged a bit!
That was awesome, thank you for the video! I've been playing around with figuring out my '99 Yukon. Did you pull any of the interior panels? If you did was it worth the space gained? I love that you got a whole cupboard piece on that one side and still have a "hallway!"
Yes!! So the driver's side panel is removed in my build and definitely worth it (varying levels of added space). I decided it would not be worth it on the passenger side because there is some stuff behind it!
@@MeganClaarke Thank you! I've peeked behind the driver's side one and was surprised to discover a jack! Also, at least part of that side appears to be far easier to remove than the rest from what I've seen.
Lol right - I was also pleasantly surprised by that! I was able to pull out all of the panels without breaking anything. A bit of a puzzle removing extra panels to get the desired panel free!
I was going to do the same thing with a Yukon or Tahoe, but since I have a 4X4 Silverado paid for, I decided a shell on the bed is much more affordable after checking prices of those lol Yukon is much nicer to drive and cozier. I found a twin bed (Lowes) to fit that has a drawer on the end. I was going to attach a piece of plywood to the drawer in the bed, so I can pull out the drawer way out with a support and have storage that slides under the bed out of the way. I would pull the drawer with cooking utensils out and have access to containers behind the drawer and a long table to use.. Just an idea I had. Love your set up!
Omg, yeah at first I wanted the Yukon XL but decided a Thule roof bin would be much more budget friendly for the added space. 😄 Sounds like that bed was a great find!
Thank you for this video!! I just purchased a 2014 suburban and plan on starting a RU-vid channel and getting the tiny home conversion on video like you 💯💪
Wow. At first I thought it was an Yukon xl or suburban but no. You are in a standard Yukon or a Tahoe. Those are smaller than a xl or suburban. But I love the set up. I have a suburban I want to do this to. So, I may borrow some of your ideas. 🙂
Very nice video and the best thing surprised me the most were those peeping out plastic green leafs in the real green nature around you..though it’s a good idea to keep them when you camp in a desert😊👍
On second thought because I like your determination to get things done I'll continue along with your van life and watch it on mute with closed caption. There is way too music background literally EVERYWHERE nowadays! But thanks to ways to cancel it out options available I can get some rest from it. It's a drag, but necessary to have to take my earbuds into every store ( except gratefully,Target), and listen to a calm, running creek while I shop, which is actually nice. Feeling manipulated to stay longer to shop, or even to watch a video is still something I can excuse myself from, thankfully. I know you only want to add to the experience of your videos by adding all that music so I don't hold it against you because you're young. But please consider another's POV. And be safer than you think you need to out on the road. Creepers come in all shape and sizes my dear.
You have 2 videos, and 876 subscribers. You need 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours to monetize the channel. Make more videos, and you will get there quickly! Then you can make $$$ while you drive around. (I know it is not much, but if you build your viewership, it can help you continue your trip.) That, and I'd love to see more videos. Particularly of the build. I have a Yukon that I'm thinking of converting. I would not be full time in it (at least not at first). I love the simplicity of yours. I'd like to see what you are using for battery. Maybe a video on your whole electrical system?
Thank you!! That is so sweet. I really believe if I just keep at it, I'll achieve some level of success with RU-vid ☺ I'm nearly monetized now just from this video so I am excited to be back to posting regularly now! I'll be posting a very detailed video for the electrical system as part of the camper build series - it will certainly help you.
It looks great. I'm looking for a Yukon or may be a Saburban to convert to a camper. I used to have a 4x4 1985 Saburban and loved it. I will be anxious to see how you adapt to travelling in your SUV
Apologies for leaving you anxiously waiting - I have started to post again starting with the building process. 😊 I thought about buying a Suburban, but the jump in price led me to The Yukon with a Thule to make up for the smaller size.
I loved your laid back editing, you are very creative and I enjoyed your house tour. I am just building a van conversion right now, damn its a lot of work... you dishes that are stacked with issue, I wonder if a more permanent substitute material would be better? like a thin sponge or something?
Yes, it is so much work! How is it going for you? I am still using the napkins haha. Some rubber shelf liner cut into small pieces between the dishes would actually make a great upgrade!!
@@MeganClaarke hey I did a little google for you and I found a product 'Dish Protectors Pads'. see if that is any good? My camper is going slowww, I've only done insulation and battening, working on the floor at the moment, but i need get in there and make some progress :-)
Great video and great build! Well done! Great use of space! (With the grey and fresh water jugs can you not have them side by side but on their side eg. So the spout still faces the door /laying on their side but they're next to eachother vertically but laying on side with spouts nearer the top rather than bottom, so they don't leak still?) Just thought it would enable you to have more space and if spout toward the top while still on its side, it's unlikely to leak if it's sealed as you have it - assuming it's still below the sink drain level to work? (Hope that makes sense!?) Just thought be easier also getting them in and out to fill and empty as they'll be side by side with handle facing out toward door. Anyhow excellent job and build! Ps. Another thought as you ran out of power, You can sometimes get second hand solar panels online that are a higher wattage (eg. 210w and 330w but similar physical size) ..Might be worth looking into, as cheap and will charge your battery quicker/less sun and power the fridge a bit better having one of those instead of just the 100w as long as you have it regulated so it can't blow up your stuff! Lol Brilliant build though! .. Love your warm/natural personality! Just subscribed to follow your travels!Cheers from London England 👍😎🏴
That was my original plan for the water jugs! But yes, the spouts were taller than the drain so it would not work 😓 True! I love buying anything used - also love not blowing up stuff hahaha. Cheers 😊
Sounds Like A good Setup I Would Be Interested In Living In It I Always Wanted A Home On Wheels But I Would Never Be Air And Heat Just Be Careful When You Are Alone, Eddie From Athens Alabama.
You know I like your bill because it seems like something I would want. Is there any way you could kind of show it again or something cuz I didn't really get it all down but it looks like what I want to do. Do you have like a drawing or something?
Thank you for sharing this is exactly what i was looking for in a build, I'm currently in my extended cab truck and don't care for the camper shell. A question on your cabinet side, how deep are they? And did you remove the side panels on that side for more space?
Hi Laura! The cabinets range from 15" to 22" deep because I did remove the car panelling on that side. Next week, I'll be sharing a video from that part of the build. Hopefully you've been able to apply some of this to your truck 😊
