I was driving Toyota Landcruiser and Pickup in the Sahara desert. Mostly off road. The old models did not have much power but the engines were indestructible. After 500000 km usually the frame of the Landcruiser got soft from mechanical stress. The workshop could not weld fast enough... The pickup were better.

Which Swedish,German or Japanese car with half as large engines can handle without major problems + 300K miles as long as the oil in the engine is changed when it should...Then it is another thing that not so many WANT to drive that far with the same car..Elderly Toyotas,MB and Volvos are often exported to Africa, among other places, when they are considered "out" in Europe. I mean yeah, any car can hit 200k. But even with proper car, their are only a handful of cars that u would confidently bet on to reach this milestone and continue to drive like they just came off the lot. The vid is just pointing out the ones that u can rely on based on stats.

Not true, there a some real dogs out there that are prone to major problems within the first 100k. The Nissan cvt issues come to mind with their cvt drive bands that unravel and rapidly disassemble in a catastrophic manner. Like wise there are other CVT driven cars out there that suffer from the same failure rate as the Nissan brand, the Chevy Traverse and KIA Forte among others . The use of plastic components in engine and drive trains is another troubling trend that has shown to be an issue in recent years as an examlpe recent Nissan 1.8 liter and Chevy 1.4 liter models.

I acquired an 88 Jeep Cherokee almost 2 years ago whose odometer wasn't engaged for who knows how long but stopped at 213,000 miles. Had been a ranch vehicle and abused but still purrs, still runs/drives good. A lower ball joint and control arm were bad but replaced those and all the other like parts as sets just to make a fresh start and then the usual usual replacing of a gasket here, a hose there, maybe a fuse, refresh a ground, replace a bulb, that kind of stuff but it's a cruiser. It's not fast cuz need to update gearing to accommodate slightly larger tires but a decent ride with a 4" lift and 4" wider stance. By now I'm sure the mileage is more like 300,000+ miles but it's all good and I love my car. A great and fun project also.
