This is a "reply" video to • Suzuki 2.5 Outboard We...
His motor is a different year than mine, and if you've seen his video (which is amazing), be aware that they aren't all built exactly the same.
My tell tale stream has NEVER been strong, or anything past a small sputter. This is perfectly normal depending on your specific motor.
Thanks to Key West Kayak Fishing for such an amazing video which gave me the ability to dig deeper into my motor.
My problem is 99% likely to be the thermostat.
Update: (and solution)
I pulled out the thermostat and tested it in a pot of hot water. The thermostat was working fine.
While the tube was easy to blow through during this video, there was a blockage lower down in the impeller. When the original impeller blew up, it left a little piece in the housing. I then cleared the housing and things worked fine after that.

Yes, the older model doesn't have the tell-tale hole, mine is 2006. The two holes should spit a wet mist onto your hand, and when you rev the engine up and down sometimes spits water. As long as the exhaust coming from these holes isn't dry then water is flowing. Some people even remove the thermostat!

Excellent. Sorry for the crappy camera work. Black flies :) I have updated the description to describe the actual solution. Old impeller was caught in the housing. Make sure that you can see clear light through every hole and gap that you can find. It's easy for rocks or wood or impeller to get caught in a tiny hole that you can't see easily.

any chance of a video of it working properly. Mine spits out the two holes plus its got a thin jet of water coming straight down from the housing.

Same issue here - mine doesn't have the extra tell-tail part - i've probably pulled it apart unnecessarily now but there we go. How do you know it is overheating?

It was smoking and hot to the touch. If the little water that comes out is cold, you're fine. If it's hot, you're not.

Does your motor run ok without the paper gasket that goes between the shaft and the power head? I just replaced my impeller and trashed that gasket and now I have a huge leak (a stream) coming from bottom of power head.

i broke mine too and made one with gasket maker. it's a small tube that you line one or both sides with, let it cure, and you're good to go. best is to just get another proper gasket kit though, and use the real one, but gasket maker will last a long time if you're in a pinch.

also, make sure you torque the screws down properly, and balanced.

HI, I can not take out prop from Suzuki 2.5 df outboard. Is something jammed there? Could you please tell me what shall I do?

Remove the Cotter pin by straightening it. You need a sturdy pliers. It will come off easily if nothing else is damaged

@@sillystupidusername1 Pin removed done. I saw a few videos that it comes out easily. But my one is not, even after pulling by different tools. I am puzzled, is there any jam? What do you suggest?

@@dozamm maybe it's just so gummed up she's stuck. If it runs, clear it out a while. If you cant get a tweezer or pipe cleaner or wire or something, you might just need to tap it out with some wood and a rubber mallet. Good luck

@@dozamm did you remove the head? Hopefully you can look straight down with a flash light and look for obstructions
