ordered my df200 today . was going yamaha vf225LB looked at in in crate saturday . your video was what i needed to see. had the suzuki dt140 pair from 1994 til 2020 , never gave me a lower unit problem . fuel pumps / carb cleaning was all they ever needed friend still running them . aways knew if they made the in line 4 in 150-200 it would be special . your video told me what i already knew was possible . thank you from panacea florida.

Had a Suzuki DF200 for 10 years on my boat - great motor no problems. One major benefit of Suzi is they are much cheaper to service than other brands. My 100hr dealer service is around $600 whereas my friend's Yamaha is over $900.

Another honest vid, thankyou. I haven't been a fan of Suzuki in outboards but your points are correct and now my new boat also has two of them! In WA it is hard to find any new boats and to get a test drive in them is virtually impossible. Its a sellers market and unfortunately not too many of the dealers go the extra to secure a deal. I ended up with a Caribbean 2400 with twin 150's and all the fruit. Totally different to the Quinny pressed ali boat I've had for 19 years but handles and rides sweet. Hopefully pick it up in a couple of weeks and i'll let you know how is goes. Thanks for all your suggestions and info along the way and congrats on the 500 subs! You're personal touch replying to posts goes along way to this. Well done Graeme

G'day finally at age 60 brought my first ever BC 615 br in Nov 2019 with Suz150. Awesome fuel economy & plenty of grunt when crossing those sketchy bars also purchased with the minn kota ulterra. Like yourself I,m not the tallest bloke God gave breath to however I can launch & retrieve the boat on my own as I got Blake's to put on fully fabricated alloy steps which bolt onto the trailer just in front of the spare no drilling etc & can be removed & can be put on another Easy Tow trailer if I ever decide to change rigs All I do is reverse down into the water climb up the steps while grabbing the anchor for extra support & into the front of the boat. Same deal when exiting the boat after retrieval More than happy to send some pics just not sure how to do it on this platform. Hope this has been helpful. Ps enjoy your honesty , tips & videos. @Camh1968 so when I posted this I had a 14.25 * 17 solas prop and it did drop some top speed and WOT revs. So I ended up swapping it for a Powertech prop from Oz propellers which was a 14.25 * 16. PTZ4R16PCLYX200 Which I found gave me more top speed and revs 37kts 5900rpm. Very happy with that.

Thanks for your insight ~ thanks for your vid. Here's this man's "story" Graduated from a Quintrex 530 fishabout (Suzuki 40hp 4stroke) to Bar Crusher 575C with the Suzuki DF115A (4stroke) and I am not CONVINCED it was the correct engine choice. The 40 hp "sung" like bird ~ ever reliable and relished the top rpm range in context to the prevailing conditions. The DF115A is not at all a reflection of its little sibling! Idles awkwardly? "Feels" like it's not comfortable at full pace / throttle. Will munch up chop / swell at mid revs yet I'm really not believing it is the most suitable brand after many trips. This is a very subjective topic yet, if your out there doing it, the "gut instinct" is maybe there's a better choice of outboard?? As you wisely remarked, it's an expensive choice 🤑 To wrap it up, would I purchase a this engine again ?? No. Keep up the informative opinions. Cheers.

Thank you for your info 👍
@BaitBallin
@BaitBallin 2 года назад
Hey no worries! Yes absolutely. Suprisingly the duo props don't seem as efficient as they should be, both from a fuel consumption and actual performance perspective. So they haven't been the great success I was expecting. Add the cost and they haven't been a popular option over here with opting for the single prop 300 instead. I suspect there isn't enough Actual raw torque to make the absolute most out of driving the twin props

Any mods to the I4 needed to handle these same conditions like the V6 would? How to optimise the mid-range in the I-4 200HP Suzuki? Depends what brand you talking about. In many cases the 150 and 200 are same physical engine with same weight etc, or very close. In those cases the 200hp is a good choice. The 200 4cyl Suzuki and Yamahas are a great option

Hi. Can you recall if this engine was raised 1 or 2 holes for better performance? Cameron
@BaitBallin
@BaitBallin 8 месяцев назад
I can't remember, but it definitely wasn't buried down on the bottom hole. In my experience, most shops and people have their engine mounted too low, but do this to account for either not enough torque or incorrect prop set up. So you need to do both at once in most cases.

Depends what sort of boat etc on these plate alloy boats they are strong as hell and the engine rams etc can take it no worries. They can travel happily just trimmed to the right height. On older, fibreglass boats I'd always use one. Also depends on distance, if you are only towing 10km or something wouldn't bother.

Hey I don't think it really matters at home, if you leave it down to run on the ears now and then it's fine. @BaitBallin
@BaitBallin 2 года назад
1361kg hull weight? I'd opt for a 225 if your budget and boat can take it. If limited to a 200, the Suzuki has excellent gearing for swinging bigger props and good torque. I say if you get the right 4 blade on there, you won't be disappointed at all and you will simply love the engine all round. So put it this way, it won't be the same sure.... But overall, quiet, smooth, economical etc. I think it's a good move.
