🇦🇺😎👍My DR 650 with a warm engine , slatside carburettor , ported head and high compression piston and an open pipe gets 21 km/ litre . . Off the dyno 49 hp. My standard DR 650s new got between 22.5/25 kms per litre… Everytime I fill my fuel tanks I check the kms per litres . I’ve been doing this for 8 years.. I use 98 octane premium fuel in mine. If I use low octane it doesn’t make much of a difference . All my riding is on the road between 60 / 100 km/ hr. Top speed 165 on the flat with no head wind and 180 kms/ hr down a cliff with nothing left. . Hope that helps
What a cool super informative comment. It’s guys like you that love the DR , that made me get excited about owning a Bush Pig. Australian DR riders built the DR legacy. I call my DR Rippa because I love how O’l Boy Moto Australia says it 😆. If you ever get to Mississippi, USA, you’ll have a place to stay Cheers Ol Slick
I get 29km per liter on mine at 100 to 110km per hour. On oil changes i did the first one at 100km and it was really dirty and full of manufacturing debris. Then second change at 500km and it was still quite dirty. Then at 800 i did the 3rd change and it started to look clean. I am using 10W40 fully synthetic
Hey friend, thank you so much for that good information. Its folks like you that help old knuckleheads like me do the right thing when it comes to these motorcycles. This is the reason that I make these videos. Thank you for the comment and thank you for watching. Ol Slick
I have an 84 Yamaha XT 600, I got 70 miles per gallon solo with more than 50% of that off-road, I went on the same trip again with 120 lb passenger and got about 64 MPG. I went up one tooth at the front sprocket, and running 80% off-road tires
I put a seat concepts seat on it and it’s much better. Sorry I just saw this post, I’m always having trouble keeping up with comments until I finally put the RU-vid app on my phone so maybe I can be better about answering my comments now. Thank you for always watching and commenting on my videos, oh, and congrats on passing the 1000 subscriber mark.
If I could ride as good as you I’d be getting about that mpg also. 😆 Thanks for commenting friend. Please subscribe and help Ol Slick get to 1000 subs.
@@TommyWasHere that’s crazy! Good to hear youre getting that kind of mpg. I rejetted mine with a 145 main with different needle and only get 38-43 mpg now depending how I ride.
I just use regular 89 with ethanol. This is an old-school bike, and I believe this is the reason that most people purchased this bike. Thank you for watching. Ol slick
