If I cut the forks how do I then work out the correct of fork oil for the new height as surely it must be less with lowered forks or the pressure will be to great and blow the seals?
Christian Navarro we don’t cut the tube at all- only the spacers inside- which then allow the tube to slide in further, which makes it shorter. Watch the vid again😊
When i "lowered" mine i just adjusted where the forks up the triple tree and re fastend it...long way to go before i get it started to actually find out if i stuffed up but...did i? If so how?
Hi. Thanks a ton for this video it is awesome. Can you advise on why you need to cut both the spring and spacer instead of just the spacer, or the spring? Also, is 50mm the advised max for just that fork or all forks? I want to cut my 1980 gs550 spacers this weekend, but was hoping To cut more the 50mm. Thanks again man. Rad videos. 48 minutes ago
Joel Thompson cutting spring and spacer was the only way I could get it short enough. I’m not sure what the advised height is, but just beware that the more you lower, the more it messes with the response of your steering!
HI DAVID,WOW'YOU MADE IT LOOKS SO EASY,SO IM GONNA TRY IT.CAN I DO THIS AND LOWER IT ABOUT 4 INCHES ON MY ENDURO 1979 KAWASAKI KE100 THANK YOU SO MUCH......
This is not how you shorter a set motorcycle forks correctly to make this safe you would have to add an appropriate spacer underneath a damper rod to maintain spring preload and re-calculate the oil volume as this will now be lower because the internal volume of the fork is less otherwise this is just an accident waiting to happen. Sorry David I’m not trying to be a dick but this is incredibly dangerous
