I have one like this (chain, not shaft) that has been disassemble in storage for 30 years waiting for the right time to put together (very soon), you did an amazing job, thanks for the inspiration, this is mostly how I envision my finished project, keep up the good work
This bike is exactly what I wanna do with my 81 gs1100. I have the square head light which I want to keep but the ferring is perfect .with you had some measurements...😁
Great job ! Love the custom panels and seat, the paint and Suzuki sticker on the tank is a fantastic combination ! i'm at the tail end of a simlar build on a gs1000 shafty and if my son shows me how ,i'll postthe pics on youtube. Once again , great job ! l end
Arrrr....thanks for the view of 'er bits n' knickers and all; always love a bit o'motorcycle porn of an evening! Really a grand looking bit of kit and hopefully an inspiration to the rest of us.
I'm extremely behind the times for my age....36 but I just got a 81 gs1100 first bike and I wanna do a cafe racer. Comes next week amazing shape for the price. Owner sold it at a discount cause recently it ran but no power to the coils?.....
The seat was a ones off. I didn't take any moulds. If I did it again I would make the cowl just a little bit more rounded. I think you should give it a go yourself, it's easier than you think to work with foam and fibreglass. Just watch a lot off RU-vid vids, and use surfboard foam. They are great bikes to ride.
Gorgeous build, love what you did with it... I’m building a 1980 GS1000G myself cafe/brat style. Quick question, where’d you get the Suzuki tank decal? First time I’ve seen one like it
I’m in the middle of a build of the same bike. Do you have a list of just the performance parts or where to find parts for the bike. Especially the exhaust!! Killer sound!! Thanks
They are great bikes. Exhaust is a original 4-2, cut off and welded a collar on the end to allow a aftermarket exhaust tip. I started with no baffle but wacked one in, it was a bit loud. Jets I got from 6sigma, they got very accurate kits. One tip I'll give you, don't put lithium battery in it, the charging system don't like it. Let me know how you go.
Yes it's a 8 I said it wrong in the vid. It's has been bored out to 75mm if I remember right(+3mm). 4-2 straight pipes with a stage 3 jet kit in it. Not that the hp if everything though, if it sounds cool, looks cool, feels cool. Than you're good.
I didn't have too. The bike only had 28000kms on it. Brand new really. Good compression, no smoke, no leaks and no noises when warm. If it's not broken, don't fix it.
I used 150 main and left the rest original. I sold the bike now. I think it would have done good to set the needle one slot higher and maybe bigger pilot too. Pods and staight pipes need so much more fuel its crazy.
