Suzuki GS500 Top End Rebuild Part 1 of 4
This video is meant as a visual aide and should be used in conjunction with a good repair manual. The "Tools" section is not comprehensive and some tools pictured are not used in the video. Visit www.gstwin.com for more great info.

I think this is a great series for those who want to keep their bike running and keep things simple and inexpensive. Good job!

Awesome! I just put together my first "walkthrough" video on RU-vid today, a teardown of the charging system in my GS550. Your video came up under "similar". I am very impressed. I didn't think to list tools/parts in mine. Your instructions are clear, we can tell you've done this before, instead of trying to figure out for the first time as you go (like I just did LoL). Thanks for sharing!

To be honest this tutorial is better than the gs500f one.

Old multibrand mechanic here. You can use a broken piece of piston ring to clean ring grooves and the advantage of that is you KNOW they fit. You can use worm drive hose clamps as piston ring compressors and many mechanics do, but if you are careful about supporting your pistons it's not hard to just guide the rings using a small common screwdriver or similar.

Excellent resource. I will be rebuilding the top end on my cm400t and will likely use this series as a reference

Would be great to refilm this with hd camera. Good series though and better than the black and white photos in workshop manuals.

replacing the spark plugs took five minutes in my GS500. In my current bike (a MT07) it takes an hour at best.

Great tutorial, very helpful. How about a bottom end rebuild? That would be even more helpful.

Any chance of putting a list of the replacement parts with numbers up on the About section of the video. Thanks.
