Hi guys! It's been a long time coming but with retail shops now reopening, I've finally been able to take another bike out on a First Date, courtesy of my friends at Frasers of Gloucester.
I have to say that when I was going through the footage, I realised that I am a bit ring-rusty when it comes to bike reviewing! So this isn't one of my best efforts and I'm sorry about that.
I hope you do at least enjoy the sound! Some of my recent videos have been a bit disappointing when it comes to hearing the exhaust so I think I've got a solution for that now 😀

0:00 Morning!
0:29 I stall a bike designed to be difficult to stall...
0:49 First of several low-speed throttle response tests
1:42 Low RPM assist in action
2:29 Nice riding position...
4:15 Another low speed throttle test
4:38 Some details about the controls
5:06 First taste of the midrange
5:56 Feeling in the bends...
6:21 Windblast chat
7:07 Short riding position comparison to my previous BMW S1000R
7:38 I mention an optional quick shifter (not sure if there is an OEM one
available from Suzuki) and talk about the clutch
8:08 Yeah it feels a bit firm as standard...
8:57 Shame about that snatchiness at small throttle openings
9:20 This is not a sports tourer...
11:04 I discover that the fairing does show promise!
12:27 Walkaround
14:35 Colour me surprised
15:24 Low RPM assist does the job!
15:43 Front brakes feel a bit soft (to be continued below)
16:17 On the Motorway
17:38 Maybe just the initial bite of the brakes that is soft
(plus the bike is brand new)
18:00 Summing up, including 18:45 The Question... second date?

Good review. I appreciate the way you left the specs on the screen long enough to be read.

Nice video. I’ve just bought a 2019 GSX1000F and I agree with the remarks made here. I must see if I can get the throttle response improved by the remapping. I have found the brakes to be very adequate though. And I agree about the styling too. The more you look at the bike, the better it gets. Much better looking than the new GT in my opinion. Thanks for the video!

Very nice review! 👍🏻I bought exactly the same one 2 months ago. Love it, very good quality and quite a nice stock sound. It is gonna be the keeper if there is no new feared version in the future.

Thank you 😊 I certainly underestimated the faired version and I'm glad I took it out! It will be very interesting to see if Suzuki come up a faired version of the new model and how it will look...

@@tomaspodzimek4933 Hello Tomas, that is a tricky question! I think really they are very similar in terms of performance and handling and they all impressed me but I reckon I'd prefer this faired model (especially in this colour scheme). It's the most practical of the three models but not any slower 😁

Good review! Actually think looks pretty decent in it’s design. Can I ask what you have plugged into your 360 camera? Charger? Cheers

Thanks! The bike never did anything for me until I saw it those colours and now I want a third bike in the shed lol Yes I have a power bank connected to my 360 camera - My cameras are almost always connected to a power bank, or USB power coming from the bike itself.

Would you sway more towards a 17 plate s1000xr or say a suzuki gsxs1000f? I'll only been using it for commuting and some long motorway miles to visit the Mrs, but with some b roads in between.
@RikkyTang
@RikkyTang Год назад
Hello Christopher, sorry for the slow reply! That's tricky one as I do like both bikes! There is not a lot between them in terms of comfort and I do like the relaxed/upright riding position of the BMW. But the main thing that I'm not a fan on with that beemer is the riders seat... you just can't move around on it! I think I'd prefer the Suzuki for that reason. Also I think the XR models of thet period have a reputation for vibration which has frustrated many owners!

Hi Malcolm, first of all thanks for subscribing! The good news about this colour scheme is that it's been around since 2017 (I never realised that!) and they're starting at about £7k so they are getting affordable on the used market 😊

OK from the front it's not exactly a stunner 🤣 Could have looked better if they separated those LED lights from the main units I think... it will be interesting to see how/if Suzuki restyles the faired version!

mine makes a great solo sports tourer it's covered large parts of Europe will cruise as fast as you like all day on the auto barn handle's great ,it's economical, reliable cheap to buy and run. The throttle sharpness can be sorted with a £20 throttle tube from the katana and I've fitted a nitron rear shock and a fork kit plus high screen,givi top box and heated grips i get 200 miles from a tank sat at 80mph, it does all i need

Hi Ricky Can you sit on the Motorway at 85 ish without your Head getting pulled off. I had an MT10 which was amazing..want similar performance but also some Wind protection
@RikkyTang

Personally I found that yes I could sit at that sort of speed on this model and I was impressed with the lack of wind blast/buffetting. However if you are bigger/smaller than me you may have different results.

I'm skipping through the video to see where I mentioned traction control to see if I got it wrong... can't find it yet! I do mention that it lacks "rider" modes which is something separate to a traction control option. UPDATE! During the walkaround section I do have a pop-up note on screen that says "three level traction control + "off"
