when I was age 15 there was only one GT750 (red / 76) in my small town. 35 years have passed I found this bike and bought (not working last 20 years, engine ruined but the rest in excellent condition. I restored with special care with all genuine spares on 3 years of work. Today is my dream accomplished. She does not run ... she parades!

My Dad's GT750 was a big girl compared to my LC2, but a joy to ride. No waiting for power & an awesome soundtrack with Allspeeds.

Beautiful smooth bikes with superb mid-range. When ported and polished, fitted with expansion chambers performance was sensational. Once person I'm told who did that, refused to ride the bike in wet weather.

This was my favourite bike in the 1970's. I remember sitting on one in a bike showroom back in 1977 and thinking how proud I would have felt, to ride it back home. I never did get to own one, but my brother bought one back in 1986, and I had a ride around the block on it. I loved it, that engine sound was music to my ears, and the bike remains to this day my favourite bike of all time. Closely followed by Kawasaki's mighty Z900.

The bike I would say I learned on RD Yamaha 350 I had more than one and halfway completed a restoration the bikes went well for there time I could get it from zero to ninety miles an hour in four hundred meters amazing when your only fifteen years old you can get all the parts that you need anything from badges to stickers factory was a great little bike with stacks of power

Mine had the Makuni slides . Upgrading to electronic ignition from breaker points would do this a lot of good . On the solid slide carbs there is a plug at the top of the carb . Pull all three plugs and you can sync the carbs by looking through the plug hole and matching it to a dot on the slide . Make all three match and your golden . Beware some of these can get insane hi speed wobble that starts in the front . I found a broken fork spring and I suspect metal fatigue in the front fender . If you see fine lines in the chrome of the front fender be concerned . On mine one front shock went into jounce and rebound and the other remained stiff . It's like riding a whip . Once fixed very nice bike .

on my 74/75 gt 750 i was going round an adverse camber wide left hander where when it was wet you had to get the right line between 2 man hole covers or take the slide, half way round the bend at around 40 the rear wheel locked, hell! grabbed the clutch thinking engine seized but nothing, kicked bike away from me which went straight under a lorry. Insurance company wanted bike checked because they didnt accept my version, taken spart by local dealer they found that where the strange cog position was in place there was a fork selector over the top retained by 2 bolts that had dropped down into cogs and locked it solid instantly. You can best rider in the world but from 40 to zero cranked over you wont hang on. Insurance company refused to pay out as due to "mechanical failure" which left me as a self employed courier with no bike, no money, no income and a finance bill for non existant bike. Big shit for an 18 year old. Never did find out if diagnosis was correct but would live to know if anyone else knew of this fault.

Maybe the funniest bike I ever ridden,- a 1973 mod. Built from 1971-77. Troubles: Dynamo an ignition problems. Fixable. It's a 2-stroke.. Easy to fix. Sounds like 3 small mopeds until.. you turn the throttle. Then it goes fuc. wild... Faster than in that time my friend's all new 1982 Honda cbx 750 bol'dor. And this golden thing are more heavy and bigger in pounds....and 10 years older. Imagine that. --Sold in 1984 for a Suzuki GSX 750 -82. Hmmm...:::I probably never forgive myself#

Jo Ko don't be hard on yourself, the gsx 750 had a good place in history, same as your gt 750, Suzuki just couldn't stop making good bikes.

The porting was also changed in the 76 model, it greatly lost torque, gained HP and got terrible gas mileage. Compared to J and K models.

I had a gt 500 ,3 cylinder when I was 16 years old but I can't remember the year model it was but had hard saddle bags and fiberglass wind shield fairing ,it had 120 on the speedo and yes it would do every bit of it and then some, my buddy had bought a brand new Honda shadow 750 shafts drive and it'd just chap his butt that he couldn't hang with that old gt 500 with his 750 ,my dad wrecked it one early morning on way to work and wouldn't let me get it out of the toward impound cause he said I didn't need a bike that fast ,hahaha go figure ,he's the one who couldn't handle it's power but I've missed that bike ever since , had some fun times on that ole bike

GT500 was a 2 cylinder, GT550 was a 3 cylinder and couldnt see 120 unless it was dropped out of an airplane. The GT750 could barely do that. I know the past was rosy, but not that rosy.

That would have been a GT-550 surely . The 500 was the T500 Titan . A twin . Great bike in the day . But Harsh and rough by comparison .

I owned a green 1972 with the front drum brake and a later I traded that bike in for a red1973 model with the dual front disc. Reliable as heck. Bit of a pain to tune with the three sets of points in the ignition but overall it was an interesting bike. It was a slug compared to the wild and unruly Kawasaki H2 at the time but the dealer I bought it from put electronic ignition on one, modified it a bit with expansion chambers etc. and raced it at Daytona. He claimed his water buffalo race bike had a 185mph top speed.

I would have been one of the first people in the UK to ride the kettle, 550 and 380, having taken part in Suzuki’s attempt to win the Maudes Trophy, I think I rode the Kettle in the first leg from Beamish mc (Brighton) to somewhere in Devon

My Favorite Suzuki Bikes from the past are the "L" Model Bikes. The 850-L and the 1000-L (or was it a 1100-L). I believe those were from the late 1970's and early 1980's.
