Hey guys, I explain 3 great reasons why the Hayabusa makes for a good daily driver, every day use motorcycle. I really enjoyed making this video, one of my favs so far! I hope you enjoy it as well!
I wasn't. Only the "legend" behind it and the engine. Design wise I never liked it, however with the third generation, I fell in love with it and ordered a thundergray one
I bought a 2023 couple months ago, my 28th motorcycle, and it has to be my best bike ever, or at least in the top two. I’ll be 3/4 of a century years old this month. I’m planning on keeping this bike. I’m sure it won’t be my last bike, I have 3 bikes. Sold my 2022 ZX10-R.
Wow, very interesting and happy to hear the Busa is on your top favs! Also happy birthday 🎂 I'm a bit more than 1/3 of a century years old and I believe I'm at bike #15.
Absolutely. I ride a Gen 3. It's my only bike. We commute, go on tours, carry pillion, you name it. Fantastic bike that's surprisingly easy to live with but a real gem in the twisties.
I rode mine daily for years. They work great for general transportation. They have plenty of torque right off idle, the wide-ratio transmission has a lower first gear than an open class supersport, the engine is very docile, they get good fuel mileage, they're smooth, and even comfortable two-up.
@@MototalkUSA Thanks. I used mine for everything from getting my motorcycle endorsement, to earning my expert road racing license. My wife and I did a 2,000 mile weekend on it two-up with a week's worth of camping gear, for our honeymoon to Laguna Seca. She slept on the back.
@MototalkUSA Thanks. There's little odds and ends that I'm remembering, now that you've got me thinking on this subject. The Hayabusa hasn't changed a lot in 25 years. GSX-R foot pegs from that era are a straight swap for the rubber-covered monstrosities the Hayabusa comes with. They allow much better feel for what the rear tire is doing, as well as offering better cornering clearance. I went one step further and ground down the peg feeler boss on the bottom of the outer tip on each one, flush with the angled contour of the rest of the tip. I think I also clearanced the side stand pivot to fold tighter, ground the sidestand tip where it sticks out, and shortened the tip of the rear brake lever- I don't use the rear brake while in motion. With the giant stock exhaust cans out of the way, the cornering clearance was only limited by the fairing "bulge" on the right and the stator cover on the left.
"Some people are dopey to me, and I'm dopey to some other people " that's about right. Lol it's a beautiful motorcycle, my best friend had one, and parked in in his living room, it was like a piece of art.
Just saying I’ve done 36,000 km in 1 summer with a Ninja 750 1987 in 1990, I’m from the east coast Canada, precisely Montréal Quebec and I went down the states, and stayed in Malibu California for 3 months and took the grand tours sight seeing the Grand Canyon and the whole Yellowstone park, without forgetting Mount Rushmore and many other place. ..,,,,, what a summer 😍😍👍
Rode mine as my main commuter for years. Has over 70K miles on it. Sometimes I got caught in a surprise storm so bad I was talking to my bike telling it to get me home, and this bike did that every time. Not a good bike for a beginner though, since many have asked. More skill and discipline is needed. It is surprisingly gentle and forgiving to a point, and then that point falls off like a cliff. Ride safely.
Love how no matter where we live, once one visits the dentist, we always stop of for a bite to eat on the way home hahahahaha It’s like taking the long way home after your car / bike passes the MOT hahahaha
I just picked up a super low mileage 2019 and am loving it so far. I use it as a commuter as well.....I added a pair of M4 retro slip-ons and had Moore Mafia tune the ECU as well..super fun!!!! Thanks for the vid.......that was fun!
Congrats man, that's awesome! I was going to get a 2019 as well, a new one and it was black with grey wheels, really nice but the dealer there was rude and etc so I went to another place and got this 2020 for 1k cheaper and he had it ready in 2 hours! Enjoy it man, I bet those mods made a good difference 💪💪 Thank you for the nice comment and you're very welcome for the vid! I'm happy you liked it, it was very enjoyable making this one!
I've loved Busas all my life. I have one more year until I hit college, and the first thing i'm doing is investing some of the money I earn into a busa. It'll be my first bike, but i'm sure to be safe not stupid starting out and i have some experience so i'll last with my bike in the long run.
@@MototalkUSA Great ma dude. Next week due to work relocating I'll have to ride my whole country through and through (Spain) in the space of one and a half days. I'm looking forward to it!
@@MototalkUSA Traversing the whole US would be an at least one or two week task. A grueling ride. I hope I'll get to ride the States someday. You guys have an amazing looking country!
@@LINKchris87 yes and could take even more time if checking out every state one by one. Each one has a story and something that it's famous for. It truly is an amazing country, you can go from one coast to the other and in-between the mountains and the desert and different climates 👌 Ride of a lifetime!
I am on my second gen2 Busa, Z model 2015 blue. AMAZING MOTORCYCLE! Sorted my suspension on sporty side, absolutely fantastic on the twistys. ENJOY! 🇬🇧🏴👍
Watching this video again before I pick mine up next weekend. Equal parts nervousness and excitement. Thanks for the motivation. Your videos on the Hayabusa are some of the best I can find. Hope you keep making them.
@@MototalkUSA Haha thanks. I was editing the comment and didn’t even realize you replied. I’m hoping to daily mine as well. 👊🏼 Been missing my wheels more than I realized.
1000km a week on my Gen 1, commuting to work - 50,000km a year for two years. Monthly oil change at 4000km. Stripped every weekend as a lot of riding was in the rain. Bulletproof.
Wow man, that's truly impressive! You put that thing to the test and it took it like nothing. I can't get enough of how dependable and reliable this bike is. Way to go man 💪🙌🙌
I have a bantit 1250 and a S1000RR. I often thought over the years of getting a Busa. Either my friends talk me out of it or life issues hold me back. I love the unique look they have ever since they came out. Everyone knows a Hyabusa!
@MototalkUSA it sucks something always happens. I'm freshly out of a divorce. I had to get rid of my 600RR and lucky I was able to keep any bikes. I'd have to sell both of them and I can't part with the BMW. It's a dream for now. Thanks brother. 👍
I daily my Busa. The only thing that sucks is the squareing off of the rear rubber from upright riding and torque. Also during summer, this thing puts out a ton of heat.
Regarding your comment on heat, do you still have the catalytic converter installed? I hear going with a cat-delete and full exhaust from one of the associated manufacturers might cool the engine down a bit.
@@dakotaburns7551 Yes, I still have the cat and correct, if you remove it, It'll be cooler because the cat can reach up to 1200F degrees. But honestly even now I don't really have any issue with heat. The cooling system and the fans handle it pretty good, actually the best from all the bikes I had previously.
@@DersNoNem I have an 02 with full yoshi and power commander with a tune . it gets 43mph riding gentle cruising..( but I’m not sure if gen 1’s even had a cat system, maybe only newer bikes)
Thanks man! Nice, I would like to try it in the desert l, just keep it open maxed out for a few minutes! Nice with the DR650 too, cool bike and bulletproof 👌
For all you Busa lovers I'm buying from a customer of mine an 05 Busa with 100,000 miles for cheap the guy had the shop go through the bike and they said this thing is perfect it's all highway miles and he never beat on it he's an older guy and now he has one of the newer Busa's 👍🏿😅
I'm a good fan of the Busa's , I had an 2006 and enjoyed it a lot but the weight of it was too much I'm 130 lbs 5'7 and had a hard time turning it around. But they're are awesome bike! Now I have an 2008 CBR 1000RR and love it and it's perfect for me.
That's the reason why I refused to buy the MV Agusta because of any reliability issues that may arise while using it as a daily bike; even the 2023 models !!
This bike is my absolute favorite. Will try to get one next year. Good to see a see tees youtuber lets goooo that highway sucks 😂 especially that section
Nice, thought I was the only one to wheelie a busa. Never seen anyone else do it, they are all to scared lol. All my friends love seeing that b/c it's such a big bike.
Yup! Exactly man! The thing looks like a jumbo jet taking off 😆 Let me ask you this, many times, specially when the tire is cold it doesn't hook up to do a wheelie, it just spins the tire like nothing. Do you experience this too?
I have a 99 and a 06 I mainly ride in Longisland I have trailered one to port Charlotte Florida and then I rode across alligator alley to key west one of the best rides ever six hours one way looking forward to doing it again
@jhonnydumeny9816 My background includes being an expert-licensed motorcycle road racer and motorcycle road racing instructor, so I am very particular about the use of words like "ride" and "rider". I actually earned my expert road racing license on my Hayabusa. It's okay to say that you OWN a Harley-Davidson, but unless and until you have successfully completed formal rider training beyond the MSF Basic Rider Course and/or have an objectively quantifiable riding skill level that qualifies you to accurately describe yourself as a "rider", I would recommend not using those words to describe what you do on motorcycles.
@@YernBelfus Sir, I’m happy for all of your certifications and such. I started riding dirt bikes at the age of 12. Did my MSF at Fort Dix while in the Army. I have my M endorsement on my license. I’m a rider like I previously stated!! Not need to Gate Keep, sir!
Awesome video bro, and yes hayabusa is the best, I have owned multiple street bikes ranging from 600s to 1000 but nothing is as comfortable as busa. I Wish it to be bit lighter so I can maneuver it more aggressively. Also bro do recommend some good tires, as you have been through some sets of tires let us know your thought of what tires you found best for hayabusa:)
Thank you bro!! I'm happy you liked it! Me too, I wish it was lighter but on the other hand like I mentioned it's prob better that way for more high speed stability and wind deflection, because this is also a touring bike that comes helpful in many situations. The stock Battlax tires weren't that great. Later I used the Battlax s22 and I saw a difference, more grip and even more noticeable in cold weather, but as time goes by I'll be experimenting with other brands too! 😉
I took the junk junk off at 500 miles and put Diablo Rosso Corsa 2s and they can't be beat. The Busa feels 60 Lbs lighter! I put Pirelli Angles on my son's because he is a bit more millage minded.
You can daily anything if you can afford it. I never understood people that buy bikes and cars and then store them in garages most of the time. You pass to the next dimension and it’s owe, he left a pristine motorcycle behind. Barely road it. He had a nice Viper, barely drove it though. I have 3 co-workers. One daily rides an Aprilia 1000cc, one a Corvette and one a Charger Hellcat. I laugh sometimes, rain or snow that Hellcat is parked outside the office. But I get it, his dream car is the Hellcat and he’s going to drive it into the ground by time he’s done with it. He’s in his 50’s, what is he saving it for? When he’s in his 60’s?
Exactly man! Better to enjoy it yourself and loose some money when you sell it, rather save it for some one else to enjoy it. I use the crap out of whatever I get 😜 A hellcat in the snow, that's interesting and God bless him man. He's enjoying that bad boy 😉
@@MototalkUSA I don’t get it, I have a 5.0 Mustang with half the horsepower and I have a death grip on the steering wheel when in snow. He just laughs it off and says he manages. But it’s usually an inch or 2 and maybe half and inch or less sticks. So I guess it ain’t too bad.
Many thanks brotha! ✌️🙌 I did consider both the Busa and the zx14, but the Busa does it for me. However both machines are amazing 👌 I hope you get one of them some day, or even both! 😉
I had an o2 many years ago am I put 75,000 miles on it. I changed the tires, oils and slave cylinder on a regular basis. It was a blast and I do miss the Hayabusa After test riding a knew version a week ago. I will look into another one next. Once I free up some cash.
It’s a fantastic bike, comfortable, reliable, really fast and still beautiful after all these years. For some strange reason the rear tyre seems to disappear quite rapidly. Maybe I should try another brand.
You're cracking me up. Take it easy with those "refreshing" moments, hombre!!😂 Edit: looking great out there in Pakistan.. but probably californistan like me
Almost bought a new busa but after sitting on it and looking at the price the dealer showed me a zx14r which I never even considered since I’ve been a Suzuki guy since I started riding streetbikes back in 1991. Tossed a leg over the zx14r, checked the price and a few days later when it wasn’t raining I rode the zx14r home.
Enjoyed the video. Your right brother, gotta escape. Enjoy that lane filtering, illegal or not, its our joy as bikers. Anyone who gets mad should put their steering wheel in front of their chest to get a feel for the comfort, get rid of the AC and put the engine close to get a feel for the heat, etc etc. Was wondering if you've ever rode any other 1000cc motorcycles and how they compare in comfort to the busa? Also, whats ur height/weight? that affects comfort a ton.
I'm happy you liked the video bro! 🤟🤟 I know we go through a lot when riding in heavy traffic 😅 I had a 2002 and 2006 GSX-R 1000's and they weren't pleasant with stop and go. If it's for a couple minutes it's livable but for me every day for 2 hours was uncomfortable 😅 I lowered the Busa 3/4 inch and installed a handle bar riser and made a huge difference. I'm 5 6" and I can flat foot both sides 💪
I agree completely! I call it the Dr Jeckel, Mr Hyde of motorcycles! You can just simply cruise around tame as you want, but when you want a nuclear weapon, it's a willing participant!!
I know man, what a difference only 1" can make huh? 😜 Nice with the kawi 14! I agree the Busa does look cool that's why I went with it but the 14 is pretty nice too and not as common 😉
Good video; beautiful bike!! Have been considering Hayabusa as my next bike, but .. 2 days after getting a speeding ticket for riding my 870 lb Indian past an un-marked SHP (69 in a 45), and got a ticket, makes me second guess that Hayabusa interest cause … need for speed = “usually” .. (mostly a smart need for speed but - my stupid got me in trouble.)
Thanks man! It is a beauty indeed! I had an R6 many years ago and got into very very big trouble. But it didn't stop me, it really sucked and it was hard times but it made me more cautious and sharp. Even people with cars get tickets all the time. I just follow my instincts and keep an eye out as much as I can. I also don't want to be a bad influence and I'm sure you'll do whatever is best for you and I wish you the best of luck man, whatever you choose 🙌💪
These machines are ridiculously fast, stupidly powerful, and there are far more versatile machines out there. I'm on my 6th.....a 2023 Gen 3. Stunning machines.
I got my second 2002 hayabusa for almost 2 years now. Let me tell you, there must be some kind of magic happening between the first and second generation. My first gen's are both unreliable in the sense of they start everyday, but make expensive noises and are in workshops 30% of the year. The breaks on the first gen are awful too. But performance, low end grunt and the general ride quality are all perfect.
Yeah there's a big improvement on the brakes with the 2nd Gen Busa 2013 and later, they have monoblock Brembo calipers in the front and do a fantastic job. What kind of repairs have you done on your Gen 1 busas? Maybe they weren't taken care of from the previous owner? Also what are the mileages they have?
ironically as a beginner-ish rider whos done only about 6k miles since june of 23 on my z400. I'm heavily considering a hayabusa in the next couple years. obviously its a lot of power. and i really wish the still made the 2cd gen katana style bike with fuel injection and around 100-130 horsepower since they where similar in the sport touring aspect. But trying out slightly lowered hayabusa felt so good between the legs for me at 5'4. and despite the curb weight these bikes feel very light between the legs.
Very well said my friend! Get some flight hours and then move to a more powerful bike. Totally agree with the weight too, the only time it feels heavy is when I move it around in the garage, other than that really manageable and I'm 5'6.
I used to commute on a GSX750R and 1000R, loved the nimbleness and zip, but constantly frustrated the the traffic was too heavy to ever really open them up. I can see you get a bit of semi-open highway space.
i did have a 1200cc Buell as a first bike (a lifetime ago) & Harley wound up buying it back.. picked up my first busa & never bought another; i'm on my 3rd now.. i'm 6'5" & can sit up on it straight or lay down & beat it.. love emm
the weight & stance are perfect to me; there's sum about breaking 220 ona paperweight! Luv the way i can lay these low into turns too.. anything 1000cc or better comes down to the rider & power management; 2nd to none, far as I'm concerned (also i just look silly on 1000).. btw, them stock tires needs to be burned off & upgraded anyway, so no worries..
Nice riding and vid bro!!! Coming from 8 different Harleys and a Big Bear chopper in the past 12 years. I can’t wait to put money down for a 25th anniversary Busa next week. Going for the burnt orange one. I got quoted for 22.5k(ouch)
@@MototalkUSA smoothness and a feeling of solidness and quality , the weight feels lower down in the chassis and the bike feels more agile! You can put it in sixth gear and use it as a automatic if you want to and never has the saying drop a gear and disappear been more accurate The whole feeling of quality is there and I’ve no doubt it’s capable of incredible mileage The busa is a super bike the z is a hyper bike !
@@MototalkUSA I m hoping it will pass 200000 km 😂 I give good oil and petrol is best as I live in Dubai I have question what do u think of new Ducati multistrada v4 pikes peak 2022
@@naveenkumar-kb1fwHello Dubai !!! Send me some of that good oil here man ☺️ I hope so it passes 200K, that'll be a good reliability test ! The Ducati is awesome but it's a whole different kind of animal ! It's like owning a Ferrari ! Amazing machine but needs more maintenance. And I wouldn't think it can last 200K without a rebuild. If you're only using it for a weekend that'll perfectly fine or if you don't build up too many miles on it.
I like the busa and my experience is from a Harley Electraglide. Leaving Harley because they hate their owners. The busa weights miles less than and a FL tourer. How is this bike with taller people?
@@CountryCarReviews I'm only 5 6" but I believe it suits taller people a little better, because it's a pretty long bike and the reach for the handlebars is a little further than other sport bikes. However they may feel a little cramped with leg room, I feel like that part suits shorter people best. Basically an Ideal person for it would be one with short legs and long arms 😅
I had the chance twice to get a Busa so far, but first, I ended up with my dream bike, a Super Tenere, second time, with an FJR1300... SHAFT DRIVE!!! I cannot make myself to deal with the chain again... I too use the bikes to commute to work, only 20-30mins rides. I just don't want to pay the extra €4-500/year to deal with the chain. And the Kawasaki GTR1400 Concourse is fucked over 40 000miles... it develops electrical gremlins, and the front discs are undersized... this info is from my local bike dealer... So I either get rich or will stick to my FJRs. Happy Easter, Guys!
Whatever works best for you man. The chain isn't that bad though, I have 23K miles on the bike and still have the original chain and sprockets and they're still healthy. If you properly maintain it, oil it and keep the proper slack they last a long time. The only annoying part is to keep the wheel clean. Unfortunately not too many options for shaft driven bikes. Happy Easter to you too! 🙌
@@MototalkUSA woooow! 23k+ miles??? This gives me hope! How do You clean them though? How often? How often do You adjust the slack? What lubricant do you recommend? Mind you, I think the reason why my mechanic said what he said, is because we are in the Netherlands, and it rains more than shines, so that can affect things when it comes to chains. Yeah, it's a shame that there isn't much coming up when it comes to bikes with shaft drive. And the BMWs are just not good enough... At some point, I might have to buy multiple FJRs to future proof myself...;)) Thanks for your reply & have fun with the bunnies!;))
@@V4zz33 yep that makes more sense now, if it rains mostly where you are the chains will need way more attention because the water washes out the oil. I don't have a specific mileage interval, sometimes I'll lube it at 600 miles sometimes I might go 1000 miles or I might lube it a day before I wash the bike this way if that stuff flyes on the wheel I get to clean it once, or I'll even do it after I washed it, it depends the mood too ☺️ Same goes with tightening it but at more mileage intervals, when I see it starting to slack I'll take care of it and to be honest I'm not always on top of it I might postpone it for a week or two but not too too long. Any good brand will do, I try different ones every time, right now I'm using Maxima. I clean it with a rag, it takes time to do a good job but it looks sweet when it's done. If the face of the chain has stubborn gunk, I use tiny bit of WD -40 on the rag and it dissolves it right away, same thing with the wheel. Maintaining a chain is Definitely extra work but it's doable.
@@MototalkUSA Thank you very much, I've saved your reply! We were told/recommended to do the tensioning in every 500km /350miles...;)) I'd prefer doing it your way. I totally forgot about the mess that the freshly oiled chain makes.;)) It looks great, though, when nicely oiled up! Thank you again, for the tips and tricks!;)) Enjoy the holidays!;))
