Trooper's Narrative:
On Wednesday, March 20, at approximately 12:09 a.m., I was notified that the Saline County Sheriff's Office was attempting to
stop a motorcycle in the area of Arch Street and North Springlake when the motorcycle failed to yield and continued driving
northbound on Arch Street into Pulaski County. Per SCSO policy, the deputy deactivated his lights and sirens, but continued to
follow the fleeing vehicle at a safe speed while requesting assistance from ASP.
I intercepted the motorcycle on Interstate 530 South near the 3 mile marker. I observed the unlicensed blue motorcycle
continued to drive at the speed limit. I pulled next to the motorcycle with emergency equipment activated to make my presence
known. I then entered the traffic lane behind the motorcycle with my emergency lights activated. The motorcycle continued to
drive near the speed limit as we entered Interstate 30 East from Interstate 530 North. The motorcycle continued to drive at or
near the speed limit until reaching the north interchange. Trooper Tyler Ryals then became engaged in the pursuit. At which
time, I began to move in front of the motorcycle to attempt and force the operator to stop.
The driver then began to drive erratically, passing my vehicle on the shoulder and in closed lanes of traffic due roadway
construction. The operator then continued onto Highway 67 North as other troopers joined in the pursuit. Numerous attempts
were made to block the vehicle in, with negative result. The operator continued to drive recklessly reaching speeds of 130
MPH. The pursuit continued until reaching the Redmond exit from Highway 67 North. As the motorcycle took the exit, another
attempt was made to block the motorcycle in. He once again moved passed troopers and attempted to make a left turn onto
Redmond Road. I moved my vehicle in front of his path, forcing the motorcycle to slow. He then moved onto a raised sidewalk,
I moved my vehicle close to the concrete barrier to prevent the escape. The motorcycle moved in between my vehicle and the
barrier to once again flee from troopers. I exited my patrol unit and forced the driver off of his motorcycle as he attempted to
flee.
The subject was then detained by troopers before being released to the Saline County Sheriff's Office where he was charged
accordingly. Ivy Hall towing was called to take possession of the motorcycle.
