I also have an 07 rm250, similar to yours. I've done Suspension, 10oz flywheel weight, hydraulic magua clutch with weisco basket, g2 throttle taimer, fmf system, I hand guards, rear tugger strap, 13/52 gearing a full Kevlar pipe guard and skid plate. Looking at a Athena 295 kit next
@@jesussavesministries3558 well Jesus rode a 2 stroke while lucifer rode a 4 stroke. The battle raged for many moons until his lord ship Graham Jarvis said can't we just ride both, it was then that JESUS realised Lucifer was wrongful cast out of heaven just because GOD disowned him for not riding two strokes. GOD welcomed Lucifer back to the silver city realising GOD himself had committed a sin by turning his back on his own sun. Because if GOD had not turned his back on Lucifer JESUS would have never had to die for your sins in the first place.....
hey bro, thanks for sharing this info. Just curious, are u still riding your RM as of today? Would you say it was worth it for you to spend all that money to convert the RM to enduro bike? or do you recommend to just buy an enduro bike straight at the get go? Im asking because I ride an XT250, am a beginner, but now looking for a bit more powerful aggressive on a budget bike for trail riding.
Hi yep. I would be riding it if everything wasn't closed right now. As for the money to convert it I'd say it was worth it as a lot of the stuff I've done I would have done on an enduro bike. Also, it took me 3 years to do all those changes so I was able to ride from day 1 on a cheap bike and modified as things wore out. The changes that had to be done which I wouldn't have done on an enduro bike are: expansion pipe, flywheel weight, skid plate, rear wheel and bark busters. The most expensive being the expansion pipe. I've left off revalving of the suspension as it's quite possible I wouldn't do that on an enduro bike too. There's certain things I technically don't need to have done but have done because of the racing I do such as an oversize tank, mousses and tugger straps.
@@bikelife_317 The shim stack was modified by a suspension workshop so I don't know the exact details. I've had a look at the stack since then and vaguely remember the compression stack was vastly modified from stock. IIRC, a lot of the 13mm shims were swapped with a more progressive size change. Just take your suspension to someone that knows what they're doing, tell them where/what you ride, your ability and weight.
Can I just ask, why did you decide to use the RM250 as your base bike and not buy an enduro bike? I'm not judging you, as I Enduro ride my 2002 rm250, but just curious.
I can understand the question. Namely because I'm a bit of brand loyalty (I have 3 Suzuki's), I don't like ktms, and this bike was cheap compared to other bikes which allowed me to slowly upgrade based on my budget. Good luck with that 02! I had one and it's a rocket ship!
Hi mate just saying I have a rm 250 08 and it has the same hole in the power valve cover you can see it at 9:54 in the corner above the power valve tensioner i filled mine in with clear silicon as it allowed water and dirt to get in thought u should no about it as it rusts the power valve thanks Tristan
I thought it was hard wearing. Much better than stock. Had to replace it start of this year as it started to notch. I tried filing the notches off but they came back quickly.
@@jonnoMoto My rm125 had pretty bad notches on the basket and inner hub, the clutch wasn't great even when I bought it many years ago. I ordered a talon basket, prox inner hub, prox pressure plate and all the other wee parts like bearings and spacers from Suzuki. I'm glad to know the talon one is an improvement! my 89 rm250 actually has a talon basket in it from a previous owner, was pretty impressed with the machined quality.
@@jonnoMoto can I ask you're advice; when I removed the clutch basket on my 125, the the bearing you see behind it thats connected to the counter shaft. is it ok if the have a small amount of play in them? the bearing has some movement when I move the counter shaft. I don't really want to take out the gearbox to replace it :/
There's going to be minor amount of play as expansion due to heat and manufacturing tolerances has to be taken into account but it's hard to say if yours is fine without being there.
Hi there pal great video, just wondering what barrel you have as I have a 08 rm 250 with a cast iron barrel and told I should look at buying a barrel with a nikelsil barrel any help would be great.
jonnoMoto thanks for the reply, their is nothing wrong with the barrel I was just told the cast iron isn’t good and won’t last long, I have been trying to find a nikelsil barrel but have had no look.
Callum Warren as far as I know iron liners don't dissapate heat as well but that only really matters for the top 1% of riders. I know they don't last as long but the advantage of an iron barrel is you gone it out to the next piston size
I have an 04 RM250 and it is very explosive power. On a recent rebuild I found one power valve spring broke and I had put an 06 RM250 power valve spring and machine down the spacer because the 06 had an extra coil in the spring. By turning the power valve tensioner by the book is 180 degrees 1/2 turn from the stock location no tension, did you increase a full turn from no tension or added to the initial 1/2 turn and did that help calm down the explosive power when powerband hits?
@@mikebalzer9671 no worries. I've somewhat learnt to live with the hit despite adding a 10oz flywheel weight: keep it away from the hit in corners, use a higher gear in single-track and micromanage the clutch, and build momentum and pull in the clutch over slippery obstacles. The bike still gets away from me at times but a lot less than it used to.
@@Anonymous-vu8nc I've not been for a good while. It got closed down for a bit and has recently been reopened with a modified course. What did you find strict about it?
