YAMMIE You mentioned that the brakes aren't too great on the SV650 models. It would be cool if yall did a series or video that showed the deficits of common or popular bikes and what the alternative hardware to replace the deficits would be. I think this could be immensely popular and helpful to many many enthusiasts! Love your channel!

I have a 2002 SV650S ... the first iteration of the SV line, which had clip ons and the same aggressive style with a bikini fairing that you could buy aftermarket lowers to make it look like a sportbike ... the brakes on it are quite good if you are coming from a cruiser... only a sportbike rider used to brembos would class them as squishy... If you put braided steel lines they work quite well, and will easily "stoppie" the bike...

The sv650 brakes are perfectly good they just come with lower friction pads as standard so that newer riders don't brake too hard lose control and die, I recommend to just replace with ebc HH sintered pads and it will have significantly greater braking performance but the pads do need to warm up a bit before they will bite hard and the final point is if you are a bit heavier then you should get uprated front springs so it does not dive so much and it will become a favourite bike quite easily for most people. A final note is braided hoses make not much difference in my opinion so its a waste of money, spend that money on fuel or a more comfortable seat

I own one of these. My favorite bike of my fleet. The minor differences between this and the 650 vanilla, it does make a larger difference when riding than you might think. You talked about it being snatchy on the throttle, but that's actually the low RPM assist kicking in. The bike automatically adds engine speed to avoid stalls. You don't usually notice it if you're experienced. Learn to ride on this bike, and then when you move over to a bike that doesn't have it, and watch how often you stall...my wife is proof of that. It also allows you to start the bike in neutral with the stand down and without pulling the clutch, that seems to be getting harder to find these days. The ABS is aggressive. The breaks are actually fine. I didn't think so either until my mechanic disabled the ABS and I felt the difference. This bike is my primary commute today, and it handles that task well. I have a quick attach windscreen for longer trips, and it handles that well. First thing you gotta do though is really tighten up the clutch cable. I noticed you had difficulty finding neutral once and first as well. The clutch cable being tightened fix that all up for me. Really, the only way to find flaws with this bike is to be picky. In it's class for the price, it offers more than the competition does...except maybe the CFMoto 650NK...but good luck finding one of those in the USA.

I have 2018 SV650, bought it brand new.... now I had it for over 3 and a half years, and enjoying her more now than the day I took her home.... the only mod that I did was a Leo Vince slip on, to get that beautiful Vtwin sound.... never once had any issue with the bike, even with stock tires, and brakes that are still on the bike 😁....

I have a 2017 SV650 I bought as a commuter bike (my bike for fun and track days is a 765 Street Triple R) but after watching a RU-vid video by 44 teeth channel were they prepared an SV650 for super twins racing I followed their lead and fitted a 180/55 rear tyre to my little SV, the difference is INCREDIBLE, I couldn't believe simply moving up to a bigger tyre could make such a difference, the bike is so much better in the corners and the feel is great, even braking seems to have improved, so great is the improvement that I find myself using the SV as much as the Street Triple for fun.

This makes me feel like they revived the s line with the SV650X I own a 03 SV650s and I love my bike! I am sure whoever wins this bike will love the heck out of it too! On the braking like Yam said the engine braking is aggressive if its anything like my 03! I love this "feature" a lot of time I "brake" primarily with the engine but when I got the bike I didn't have tank grips so sliding my sack into the tank wasn't ideal lol.

Beautiful midsize bike. If I was riding 1 up all the time I could see myself on something like that, but ad my wife, and some luggage we really need a bigger bike (currently a '88 Katana 1100 with 114,000 km that's still pretty nice). Being a Suzuki I think that bike will be a reliable and bulletproof ride for someone though. So a bit hot down there Yammie? I woke up today, .. and for the last several days to 16 degrees Celsius (60.8 F) in Vancouver. I would have loved to take a ride to Squamish today, but it's looking like rain (again). ;)

You DON'T want to go to 180 width rear tire. A friend of mine did that and it messed up the handling. It wasn't flickable like with 160 width tire. FYI

the 99-02 SV650's Came with clipons or risers as a choice... My 2002 SV650S has clipons and a lower fairing set to make it look like a sportbike... They changed in 2003 to Fuel injection but kept the "S" choice, or sportier option.. In 2009 the SV650 became the Gladius in the US, but was still available in Canada as the SV, and in UK and AUS they kept the "S" model choice... In 2017 they fixed their Gladius error with the SV650A dropping the "S" and now have the "X" to round out that market again.... You can always add risers to the "X" or put clipons on the "A" .... the parts are always readily available

That was my first bike, 2001. You'll love it. Just remember to grow into it,. It's kind of not a beginner bike, it can be if you treat it with respect. I know people who crashed theirs because they thaugh it was 'just a little 650 twin'. Awesome bike though, one of my favorite. One thing is a must, get a Yoshimura muffler for it. You'll understand why very quickly 😉

In the second get when you got the 's' model it also it meant a more aggressive seating position and clip-ons. However, Suzuki also used a shorter swing arm and longer gear on the s model for that generation.

IMO 160/165 is a great tire for this bike. A larger tire squeezed on to the narrower wheel makes it taller and oddly shaped, increases rotating mass, etc. Stick with stock size, they're cheaper, offer plenty of grip for the bike's power.

I always thought the old SV650S bikes provided much more confidence in the twisties and felt more solid in the handling department in comparison to the Ninjas and FZ07s, I hope the new X models return to those qualities found in the older bikes.

The 180 rear s22 changes the sv650. The tire profile is much nicer for aggressive riding. The bike tips in so fast when you match it with an s22 on the front

I dont know about the US but the UK have the Hyosung gt650r which is a sports bike based off of the sv650 engine. They have the same thing with the clutch and and want to be in the higher end of the rpm too.

I went to my local Suzuki dealer Friday and sat one one. It was the best feeling standard to sit on of all of them. I'm a big guy (6' 250) and the SV feels the best of the 600 class naked bikes. The X has that racy handle bars and is a great in between. I loved it.I'm really hoping to win it. How great would that be for my first bike?

This bike is litterally just the newest remake of the Suzuki sv650S that was made from 03 -09 and is the most raced motorcycle worldwide in the twin cups and over seas.. but now they turned it to a cafe racer style but kept the clip ons and seating position but ditched the full fairings and put an X instead of S

Thank you for the excellent videos that you have uploaded, I watched most of them. I’m hoping to seek your recommendations for a suitable motorcycle. I’m planning to buy one that I would like to keep it for long time, not keen for an upgrade later. I’m 49-year-old male, short person (5’4” tall), learned/used Yamaha 125cc street bike since my late teenage and had not been riding past 25 years. I’m planning to get back on motorcycle and the ride will be primarily on suburban roads (limit 60Km/h) and highways (limit 100Km/h) here in Australia. No tracks and off road rides and usually not longer than max of 1.5 hour per trip. I prefer upright (++) or even slight forward lean (+) riding positions and I like the look of sport style bike (+++), naked (++), bobber (+). Probably will ride 2 to 3 times a week. Budget is flexible. Thank you in advance.

Hey Yammie Long time follower and yes a GSXR lover lol currently own an o07 600 looking to convert to a pure track bike.... so my question to you is ... i have been riding the GSXR 600 from the first day they were released in Australia graduating from an AVG 250 track Bike in my younger years... could you please do a review of the 2020 GSXR 750 and 1000 and tell me what you think of them? Love my 07 600 looking to buy a new road bike I'm a ginnexer bloke through and through and have riden both the new 750 and 1000 I'm indecisive at the moment both are beautiful bikes to ride so your input would be great! I started on a 99 ducati st4, 916cc. My second and current bike is an 09 triumph sprint st 1050. But im considering downsizing to an sv650. Im 6ft and 140lbs. Tbh 532lbs sport tourer feels too heavy. Any thoughts?
