I so Marek videos 2 years ago. Now Marek is more criticised. Compared to old Suzuki Swift this has much better insolation and much lighter stearing plus much better Navigation and also much better fresh look design. Marek, sorry! This time You are wrong! All sistems are made by Continental pe Bosch or other companiei and they have licence and STAS for safety. The sistems are same for all vehicles.
I couldn't be less interested in the car pick this week, but said 2 myself 'let's have a bit of fun' and the blend of truth, cabaret and intelligent remarks was above the already usually appreciated level. ❤
"No longer cheap" What car is. Here in the UK , when you consider that all cars are over priced the Swift at 18k isn't too bad. Unlike a lot of cars I could mention it has plenty of standard kit and will prove to be very reliable.
To be fair we bought the previous gen car last year at the blue light/ public service tier 1 discount price for the same price you would have paid for a Dacia I know which car with a 7 year warranty excellent reliability I went for.
Well, they are and they aren't. As they don't really court company car drivers, Suzuki offer big discounts on their cars if you know where to shop. You can get the top-of-the-range allgrip for under £18k. That's a heck of a lot of car for that money.
I use a 2019 swiftsport as a citycomuter car and it's quick, reliable and awsome to flick around in urban enviroment. Can't wait for Suzuki to release the sportversion of this model 🙂 Thanks for the video
@RundFyrkant Thus far it's no certainty they will ladt of prev shape cars still around tho we got one as the new car is really a good refresh nicely equipped but more mainstream than prev shape.
Previous gen was such a cool car, at the begining. Especially when it had a choice of two engines. Then they took the good engine out with automatic transmission. Later they reduced the power of the 1.2. Now they made a new car that someone beat with an ugly stick and still a weak engine. Its almost like they don't want to sell the car so they are just making it worse and worse.
In the last generation the top trim had disk brakes at the rear. It still has 5 gears..No longer the Spot model....all in all this is kind of a step back..
Just swapped 2019 sport for 2024 awd version. Big change in power but getting easy 55-60 mpg v 30-35. Miss the speed but a nicer car. Lots of toys and still fun. Don’t be put off. And if you don’t think £22k is good value have a look at a harley price list. Still i liked the last one too.
I had high hopes for the new Swift but it doesn't live up to expectations. A weak engine & performance plus mandatory EU electronic aids ruin the car. Looks like my next car will be pre-2024! Anything to reduce the amount of interference with real driving.
I’ve owned a number of cars in my life: Toyota Camry V6, Elantra GT, Mitsubishi Outlander and Outlander Sport, Toyota Yaris, Mazda 3… but out of all of those, my favorite car has to be my 2009 Suzuki Swift (not the Sport, but top of the line specs with a 1.3L), which I still own and can’t bring myself to sell because it has been so great. It has so much heart and soul! It might not be the fanciest car out there, but it is by far the most reliable car I’ve owned. Besides regular brake, suspension, and oil maintenance, I haven’t had one problem with it in 15 years. That being said, I think this new Swift’s quality/reliability and “fun factor” will be nowhere near the level of my 2009 Swift. But I cannot blame Suzuki entirely for this. Most of the crap technology they’ve put into this car is because of draconian EU regulations that have nothing to do with reality, and I’m sad to say, have ulterior motives behind them. Suzuki has always tried to keep costs down for consumers, so that is probably the reason behind this ISA deactivation nightmare. My guess is that they will update the deactivation option in the coming years and make it much more simple to turn on/off (unless our wonderful EU technocrats decide to make that option illegal). At the end of the day, with all of these regulation requirements, I still think that Suzuki is still making more reliable cars than most other automakers at a price that is still a good deal. Now if only Suzuki would get rid of their Jatco CVT for the Swift and start using Toyota’s Aisin CVT with the physical first gear, then things would really become interesting… 🧐🤔😎
Suzuki got kicked to the curb in NA but I think this has character. Too many vehicular appliances look duller than my neighbour's 25 yr old car. Anyhow, thanks for the fun video Marek! Now I have to wait to see if Celine Dion is going to sing that Titanic song on the Seine at the Olympics....
I remember Kizashi, which was their last attempt at opening the NA wallets, and it failed miserably. A compact sedan was too small for the US, and where's the estate for Europe!? :) Also it came way too late after the initial announcement.
I have the 2019 SZ5 model - not the Sport. That one has 110BHP and delivers almost the same fuel economy. Alas, going to the latest Swift would be a pretty big downgrade :/
About the traffic sign recognition, I've had my Vitara show me a sudden 30 km/h speed limit on the Autobahn because we passed below a bridge where that sign was placed. Imagine assisted breaking in that situation :D
@@miskatonic6210 I thought that the new systems work together somehow, nevertheless, it could happen the same way when the speed limit is transmitted via GPS, if the car gets info from the wrong road due to bad signal.
I got really confused when you said third generation Swift... Had too google it and now I know that the swift generations from the 80s and 90s wasn't a "global" Swift so they don't count XD
Yeah, it depends on where and when you start counting. Generations 1-3 were also known as Suzuki Cultus, Metro Geo and Chevrolet Sprint. The fist Ignis was sold in Japan as Swift, and the car you know from 2004 was in fact the fourth generation. In 2010 Suzuki launched the fifth generation, and the third euro generation was the global fourth. Or something :)
I would say this isn't a new mark of swift. It's a heavy revision of the old one. Less "MK4" and more "MK3.5". I do think the stock 80-odd BHP is a bit shy - I was driving cars like that in the early 90's. TBH I would be fine for general driving around. With that said, each one comes with lashing of kit (which you'll either like, or not) and a (sorta) hybrid power-chain. So you can see they put the budget into that and not into completely redesigning the bones of the car. The allgrip is an interesting prospect if you live somewhere with frequent icy conditions.
All the standard kit and MHEV is mandatory for safety and emissions. I wouldn't mind them calling it a facelift, as long as some of the safety stuff was easy to turn off. Or if they invested the money in making it good. But it's neither.
EuroNCAP results are confusing to me. The impact results aren't bad for the last swift but it got marked way down for all the tech that's not on it (that definitely wasn't on the older car I sold for it.)
It's a shame that ISA and the other driving aids are a problem, because the Swift ticks quite a few boxes for me. Separate HVAC controls and decent rear space are a surprise, and I like having an analog tachometer. I don't think I would mind it being a little bit underpowered given it comes as a manual and being a Suzuki I can thrash it like it's a rental car and it'll be fine. The thing is I could do the same with the previous generation and not have to deal with ISA :-|
On paper the K10C 1.0 3cyl Turbo should be stronger with 109hp and 170nm. You could say it's slower outside of the turbo range but in my experience this is where the, albeit weaker 12V, hybrid shines by adding roughly 2-3hp.
"Should be stronger"? You know engines don't last when you press a lot of HP out of them? It's a lot smarter to buy a 3cyl Turbo that doesn't stretch boundaries or you will end up with an engine giving up after 50k kilometers... Every customer crying for more HP in 3cyl cars will lead to less useful cars for everybody. 90 HP is more than enough in a lightweight small car.
@@miskatonic6210 i'm not saying the old K10C should be stronger. I was referring to Marek saying the new Z12E with 83hp 112nm is "marginally more powerful" than the old K10C which i described by it's facts.
Did you mention the most important thing about this car? It's made in Japan (not in the Suzuki factory in Hungary), unfortunately, which is affecting the price. So same as with Mazda, in EU Swift price is corrected with additional taxes.
@@franklin23st that's huge... We are discussing here the price of the small car. 2k difference is huge. If Clio 100 hp is 2k cheaper, which car will you choose?
@@codincoman90192 things: 1) I guess you never owned a Japanese made car? Let me show you the downsides: components are not compliant with EU aftermarket parts. For example: for Renault,Citroen, VW, you have numerous parts to choose from. For Swift you don't and every part is at least twice the price. A simple fuse, battery, bolts, brakes, etc, twice the price of normal European parts... 2) Japanese cars used to be more reliable simply because they were using less sophisticated components. Simple is reliable. That's not the case with the new Swift. It has all the complicated systems as other cars have.
@@TeoSluga, you are laughably wrong. 1) I had a 1.3 Swift from 2010 to 2021 and it was excellent. For an almost identical period I had a Honda Civic Sport, also very good. I currently drive a Miata ND2 RF G-184 and a Suzuki Jimny LCV 4x4. My wife drives a Lexus hybrid F Sport. Living in Europe, I can tell you that you lie: parts are cheaper or similarly priced vs. the comparable European brands. Other than Porsche and Bring My Wallet, the Top 10 Reliability belongs to the Japanese top brands. As for the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), the lowest ranking belongs to Japanese cars too. You can buy VAG, Renault or Stellantis clunkers, I shall continue to buy the top Japanese cars, leaders of their segments. Your assumption proved to be at least silly; 2) I agree that the Japanese cars were simpler before, but the same intrusive tech is forced on manufacturers by the stupid "green" regulations made up by the "eco"-Marxist globalist-owned governments, especially in the EU. So blame your government and EU neo-Marxists, not the manufacturers that are forced to comply in order to be able to sell their cars. Btw, you know very little about cars and you do not debate with facts/statistics, but with your feelings (that seem to cheat you), making you a loser. Next time you try to sound like an expert, just imagine that you may bump into professionals - I have managed numerous fleets of hundreds of cars, ranging from European brands like VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat (VAG), Peugeot, Citroen (Stellantis, ex-PSA), Renault, Dacia etc. to the lower TCO, higher reliability, longevity - thus higher resale value - Japanese top brands (Lexus, Toyota, Mazda, Subaru, Suzuki, Honda, Mitsubishi). I'm sorry that I liked your first comment that was correct.
The gear box is just fine and not rubbery at all as other reviewers already said. And you are very negative over the driver aids, wel they are not as bad as you say, the y work reasonably is my experience. And for the signs recognition: I can disable it within 3 seconds. You are not handy at all with this system. There is a quicker way than you showed.
I really like Suzukis approach and wish them the best, but I guess they will lose quite some male customers with this model. The old model was a beauty and liked by young and old, male or female. Perfect to steal some customers from every demographic... something Suzuki really needs to achieve.I get they can't afford the Sport any more, but...
It doesn’t really matter how good the rest of the car is. You made it this difficult to disable a feature you knew everyone wants to disable the second they hop in the car. I hope nobody buys your product because of this.
This car deserves better components, like a little bit of more power, a better gearbox and as all Japanese cars a different infotainment system. And forgot about the seats. The design is not offensive, probably has a good quality construction but man they should put inside some of their motorcycle engines.
Many. Nobody buys Fiat shit (seriously I rarely see them anywhere), Citroen is unreliable. Aygo has weak engines for the money, Mazda is much more expensive...Dacia...I can't identify an obvious argument, but the design is very different. Suzuki has its niche. Nippy cars with all the bells and whistles for a competitive price, affordable parts and acceptable reliability.
Its positives and negatives worse rear door handles better interior stupid driver assist features mandated but implemented poorly, but more economical. Definitely a try before you buy job. On the price if you qualify for a tier 1 discount NHS etc it takes starting price down to £15k so thats a well equipped car for the money but you will likely wsnt to upgrade the wheels £500. The old SZL had nicer ones. It's no Honda Jazz space wise but it is all the car you need 90% of the time.
I will be having one in a months time, and yes its not fast, do l need that now, no, i've outgrown my younger days, said goodbye to the RS, Lotus Williams, now a old fart just meandering at leisure, just right for the town and city, l think, motorways are a pain in the bum, going slower than down a dual carriageway.
I find it quite boring that over the past months all your reviews seem to be the same. All cars are too expensive, the driver aids are something just to shut off and all in all every car gets a bad review from you. You were so interesting to listen to 2 years ago. Sad. Wish you all the best👍
I wish I had something better to say about new cars, but they are, what they are. The Duster has some positives, and the new C-HR looks great, the Kona's a great car, and soon you'll see me geeking out over the PHEV in AMG C63, which is mind-blowing.
You surpass at calling out these lazy manufacturers for what they are. No vents, no arm rest, backwards step with the door handles, tedious electronics etc etc. What a load of guff Suzuki
An overpriced piece of junk 😝 It has a weak powerplant and it looks worst than it's previous generation. Mild Hybrid is a marketing lie ! It's not a Hybrid car as it might have a 48V alternator but there is no electric engine ehich powers the wheels, so it is not a Hybrid car.
