Suzuki Swift Automatic Car Radiator Replaced Removal Fix

Changed out the radiator to my 2008 Suzuki Swift.
First noticed problems when the air conditioning was not working right and had initially thought maybe it was the condenser that was starting to get wonky or the radiator fan had stopped working (had replaced the fan previously). Opened up the hood and saw a crazy mess of pink all over the engine and battery and i knew that shit ain't right. Checked the coolant reservoir and damnnnnnnnnn was it empty (no wonder my engine was running hot). I didn't have the time and parts to change the radiator out immediately so i had to live with topping the reservoir up with coolant EVERY SINGLE DAY just to get enough coolant running through the system. It was a temporary fix but that i knew that shit won't last. I bought a can of Liqui Moly Radiator Stop Leak but did not open the bottle as I knew that id need a ton of the stuff and it was definitely not a permanent solution.
Bought a radiator from a supplier, found some time and managed to fix it up. The total cost (minus the coolant from the temporary phase and the liqui moly and the ATF oil i didnt use) came up to about less than half what every other workshop was quoting me.
Would I do it again if I had to? Maybe.
ANYWAY dm me or leave a comment if you need help.

Great video. Did the radiator start leaking on its own or was the leaking caused by something, e.g., banged up?

Hi thanks for watching! The radiator leaked on its own. The seal on the top seemed to have worn away, probably due to wear and tear.

Thanks for the great instructional video. Could you provide me with some further instructions regarding the atf. How do you go about topping it up and checking the level?

Oops sorry missed your message. Replying based on memory. There should be a red dip stick somewhere on the right side of the engine. what you do is take it out, wipe oil off then dip and remove. If the oil level is I'm between the 2 guide lines then you are good, otherwise can top up through that same dip stick hole but you might need a small tube to flow it in.

My aircon was not functioning correctly. When I drive, sometimes can fee cold sometimes warm. So when into a workshop, first said compressor spoilt. Then now say radiator hose damaged and radiator is leaking, hence engine overheat and cause aircon to malfunction. How easy to replace the radiator and it’s associated hoses?

Hello! The radiator and the hoses are quite easy to replace on a Suzuki swift I feel. Mainly because most parts are accessible from the top with only a few parts you'll need to access below the vehicle. If radiator is leaking, an easy check of the coolant level would indicate so. Compressor would be harder to test. You mentioned that sometimes the Aircon is cold and sometimes hot, this might also be a worn out compressor belt where it is cold only when you accelerate the vehicle. low engine oil level could also lead to cooling issues.

Could you please tell me what kind of tools you use

Hello. Very basic tools for this repair. You will need wrenches, two adjustable wrenches should be good enough. Maybe a screw driver and pliers as well.

how much coolant did you fill?

Hmm I can't quite recall but I recall needing to start up the engine a few times and topping up the coolant reservoir until sufficient. I filled straight to the radiator before the first round.

my swift doesn't have a drain plug. -

Hmm. Just unplug the lower radiator hose and you can drain the coolant.

bro can you tell me how to change the coolant new Suzuki Swift RS 2018 model? because, the user manual said there are 4 L capacity of the coolant. but we have changed it was fill with 3L. is there any nail to remove and drain remaining coolant? it would be a big help if you could give a answer T.I.A.

Hey bro. Honestly not an expert here haha. But I think if you have removed the lowest hose connecting to your radiator, most of the coolant should have been removed. Remaining 1L might still be in engine, radiator or coolant pump. I think you don't have to worry too much about the remaining 1L unless it is contaminated. If contaminated, then you will probably have to do a coolant flush already. Otherwise it is generally ok to mix coolant of the same color.
