I put 600 miles on mine the first week I had her. About 200 of it on dirt. She performed way better than the dr650 I traded in for her. Then she had her first service and on the third week we took off for a six-day 3165 mile jaunt. I was very impressed with the whole package. It has the most comfortable seat of any bike I have ever owned. The third day we covered 200 miles, on the other five days we averaged 590 miles per day. I think this bike will be a big hit for Suzuki. I'm 63 years old, have had numerous bikes, this one has impressed me more than any other I have owned. That may be because I had lower expectations to start with than I should have.
Thanks for sharing your first 100 miles! Love your channel. I plan on doing this for my first 100+ miles, too. My V-Strom 800DE should be delivered this soon.
I have ordered this bike too (grey colour) ; I wanted the most comfortable bike, a motor with torque at low revs ( last bike 690 duke ) ; it's a real magic carpet with an efficient engine ; with this bike I appreciate the passage of time, as if I were in an armchair enjoying a good alcohol (moderately)... After the engine run-in ; I will try to modify the rear wheel (tubeless by fitting a watertight valve and sealing the heads of the spokes with "sikaflex pro 11 FC"... )
It´s a complete different Bike, everything feels better, stronger, bigger and faster. In C-Mode it feels like the 650 V Twin with a little more Power. It drives, sounds and behaves like a V Twin. In Mode A it feels like 100 Horsepower. And the Suspension is awesome.
Hi & tnx, great to have a vid where we get a long look at/listen to the riding experience. A quick question or three if I may… How do you find the suspension over bigger bumps at speed? Do you get a hard hit up thru the seat? Have you needed to adjust the suspension from stock settings for your weight? Many tnx in advance. If it helps, I am considering this for 80/20 or more probably 90/10 road use, but really want to know that the long suspension travel actually translates into good bump absorption at highway speeds. chrs, jc
Hi jc. No hit thru the seat it drives like a magic carpet and there was no situation until now in which I had to adjust the factory setting. For me it´s an awesome bike. Before you decide to buy another bike, you should definitely do a test drive. lg joe
I’ve had a Ninja 400, Vulcan S, and 2 Zx6r’s. I live in the country and want to ride our hills and freely go on gravel. Would this be a good choice? I’ve always done downhill and trails on my mountain bikes and I’ve just finished with my sport bikes, but still love them!
Hi Joe, 31May i am getting my new bike and yes the same as your s. But i see that you have the toller screen as well. Does it make a big difference? Because i ordered as well.
Nice Bike! I'm glad that I dont need to buy a new motorcycle this year, the decision between VStrom800DE, Transalp and Tenere wouldn't be easy :D I know the area where you riding around - too much traffic and villages with speed limits for me. I prefer to go to the Lavanttal Alps most of the time :) Question: Do you have your GoPro mounted on your helmet or somewhere else?
Thank you. The screen works much better than the original one, no buffeting but still wind noise. Maybe there will be an even better Alternative in the Aftermarket in a few months.
Thanks for the video. We all love engine sounds. Why do reviews cover it up with stupid music? I'm considering this bike or the Triumph 850 sport. This wins on the dirt, Triumph in the road, I think. Thoughts?
Hard decision. Test drive both. I chose the Suzuki for its chassis (it's very comfortable on and off road), the awesome build quality and the fun engine. But I haven't ridden the Triumph yet.
Lg Joe
Below 800 km you shouldn't go over 4.5krpm according to the Suzuki manual. Nice bike though, are you not worried about the "never buy the first year of anything"-mantra?
Because? Was it because he missed to indicate at this one point in the video? That's what you meant, right? Or did you mean that the rider made the "mistake" of not using public roads as a race track? If the rider had "0 % skill", like you're claiming, he wouldn't even know how to operate the motorcycle.
