The fact that they just met days ago, decide to accompany him in something she isn't familiar with, and want to sacrifice herself for basically a stranger is something you never seen anywhere. And I think that's the beauty of it. People might say it's platonic, but I think it's more than just that.
As someone who watched the film, I won't get too spoilery but she went with him because she did something that made the issue worse and felt responsible for it so she accompanied him since she felt bad even if the chair dude insisted that it was too dangerous and she shouldn't get involved. She still accompanied though and he didn't really have any choice since he became a chair which the girl can just bring and drag around. That was at first, but then along the journey is when they developed some sort of feelings.
