Used the Yanmar SV40 to clear out the brush, take out some small trees and remove an old large tree stump from a front yard. Graded the yard our to reduce a large hump in the yard and make it a more gradual slope.
Just found your video. Very nice !! Nice skills using that toothed bucket. I bought a Kubota KX040-4 . I only have about 150 hours of seat time and hoping to get to your skill level with it. I do not do commercial work of any kind and never will. Your video makes me wat to go out and play some more. Thank You.
I will say the Kubota mini’s are a bit smoother and better balanced. I have 500 hours on mine now and I’m still not very smooth with it. You got yourself a very nice machine. 👍
Looking at this size of a mini. What size is your dump trailer and how well does it fit? I got a 7’x12’with 4 foot walls and curious if this will fit ok. Good work!
This is a really tight fit in the dump trailer. 99 percent of the time we use the equipment trailer to haul the mini-ex. I have a 14' 16K dump trailer. A 16' would handle it much better but 14' was the largest they offered on the single piston on the front.
We did not opt for the additional counter weight at the time. Hindsight I wish I had because this machine is a little light in the rear and sometimes that extra weight comes in handy.
Awesome job. Just paid off my dump trailer wanting the min x in the spring for the same type of work. Would you still buy the 40 or is the 35 enough? Only thing the dealer has here is 55 i was about tempted to buy it but I'd need a bigger trailer.
The reason I went with the 40 was it had the same engine and hydraulics as the 50 but was on a smaller chassis. That helped to keep me on smaller trailers and stay below CDL weights in NC. Now we both are getting our class A CDLs so we’ll be looking to upgrade everything. 👍
You can certainly work without it. It's just there in case you lose hydraulic pressure of course. If I'm switching out buckets a lot ill save myself the hassle of getting in and out of the cab sometimes.
No it's never been a problem. I just have to remember that I have a 4-5” overhang on the sides. With the additional counterweight, it's closer to a 9-10” overhang. I can imagine that would be a pain, but this machine is incredibly well balanced and I've yet to need the additional weight. Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍
No doubt. I hate speeding it up but it keeps me from needing to edit as much stuff out because it's already long enough as it is. 😁 Thanks for watching an commenting. 👍
The bucket I'm using on the machine is the 24" bucket and the one you see on the trailer is the 12" bucket. I had a 36" grading bucket we use quite a bit as well. That 12" bucket is much better for stumping out, but I was in a hurry to finish up and just used the 24" instead. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thanks for volunteering to get me a skid steer. That’s right nice of you. 😉 Also, I’d like to see a skid steer dig out that large stump we took out as well.
