The 127 Maksutov is definitely bright enough to take a 2x Barlow. I actually use mine with a 2.5x Barlow and my ZWO planetary camera with excellent results

Very cool👍 How long of exposures are you doing with the 2.5x Barlow?

Great video, thanks for that. Question, can you use these as guide cameras?
@AVTAstro
@AVTAstro 2 года назад
umm I have not tried so cannot say for sure. I usually use 1sec exposures with my ASI cams for guiding witch the SV205 can do so it may work!

I’m a Mac user so sharpcap is not compatible. What laptop do you use or recommend for the sv105 or sv205 that’s budget friendly? Thanks

Yeah it's a bummer that they don't make it for mak. Laptops wise I personally use Surface pro's. Not too sure what else is out there.

@@AVTAstro I was thinking I could spend some cash on a labtop just for this,silly I know, but wanted to make sure I got one that would work correctly and not be a bottom of the barrel one.

Hello dear! I'm interested in that camera but I'm confused! What is the longest exposure time? 1000ms or 30sec? Because I've read somewhere that there has been an update...
@AVTAstro
@AVTAstro 4 месяца назад
I believe its 1sec. It's not really a DSO camera. Only for the moon and planets.

I just purchased this online. is it useful to take picture of any deepspace objects as well ? I have celestron star sense explorer 6 inch SCT appreciate your answer.
@AVTAstro
@AVTAstro Год назад
No, not really. It only does up to 2 sec exposure if I remember correctly. Not long enough for DSO.

I have a Celestron Nexstar 90 GT Telescope with a 910mm focal length. Should I get a barlow or extension for the sv205?

If you want to do the planets then yes.

i know im a little late but i have a nextstar 4SE with 1325mm focal length do you think i would need a barlow to capture planets or can i get away with just an extention tube to get good images? also this is a digital eyepeice so is there a way i can calculate the magnification of my telescope when using this? of course with my 9mm eyepeice 25mm ect i can just calculate it but does this have a focal length equivilant at all ?
@AVTAstro
@AVTAstro Год назад
Yeah I think you will want a barlow to get the larger image scale. Not sure how you would calculate the magnification with the camera.
@ethanhoward9206
@ethanhoward9206 Год назад
@@AVTAstro okay, thankyou very much and one more question, i have heard after some reasearch this is the same as about a 4mm eyepeice which would exceed my useful magnification. does this mean i cannot use the digital eyepeice or would using a barlow with a negetive magnification (a focal reducer) allow me to use it? thankyou
@AVTAstro
@AVTAstro Год назад
Well you will be able to use it. You will get a very dim image and no additional detail. Its called "empty magnification" as it does no good.
@ethanhoward9206
@ethanhoward9206 Год назад
@@AVTAstro i see, thankyou so if i used a focal reducer i will be able to see more colour however the image will be smaller right?
@ethanhoward9206
@ethanhoward9206 Год назад
@@AVTAstro also a random unrelated question here, does fov affect image size? so if i have a 68 fov lens and look at jupiter then do the same with a 60 fov lens with the same focal length, will jupiter appear smaller since the fov is higher in the 68 fov?

I don't see why not. Depending on the model scope you have you may need an extension tube to reach focus though.

All pictures made by this cam have a colour cast. Green/blue in the middle and red fog around. Whats's wrong with it? Just a poor integrated IR filter?
@AVTAstro
@AVTAstro Год назад
Hi, sorry not expert in cameras and could not help with that one.
@SKYWURX
@SKYWURX Год назад
I'm unsure what the cast might be caused by, but you can get rid of a lot of it by taking dark frames. I'm not sure about sharpcap, but firecapture has the ability to take a darkframe and then subtract it from your live capture session. I used to do it with my Neximage 5 which had some noise patterns and hot/cold pixels.
