Yeah they are. Makes bending thick stuff much easier than the old way of putting it in a vise and beat on it.

Nice, I have one of their press brakes that isn’t a finger brake, I traded off my pan brake awhile back and I’m missing having it around. I may have to get one of these!

I just bought one recently, from their eBay store, because I didn’t realize that they sold from their site. Anyway, it doesn’t come with the name on the press bar. That was annoying. I sent them a message, but they haven’t replied. I didn’t know that they have a heavy duty model for just $20 more. Heck, I think we all would spend the extra for that. It’s also cheaper from the site. I may buy the heavy one and give the regular one away. The collar that came with mine is also 1 11/16”, which is a standard size. But the RAM on my HF 20 ton press is pretty close, about of a 16th of an inch smaller, and that’s fine. Any tighter and the press wouldn’t go in every time. I found that pressing the bars in on the press worked pretty well without doing anything to remove metal. Swag did say they would be pretty tight.

IMHO the full length weld is not necessary on the angle to the channel. I think polishing the inside of the angle where metal will make contact will help with the finish of the outside of any bent pieces. No mill scale scratches.

You are probably right Marcel. The instructions just showed the whole length welded up so that's what I did. I think cleaning up the inside angle would be beneficial.

nice project enjoyed the video. just a suggestion on my home version of a similar break. I have progressively smaller angle that I can lay in the original to do shorter legs and also makes for crisper bends on light material. may have to grind some for then to lay flat and not interfere with the radius in the button Dave

Sweet project Tom. Love to have one of those but I just don’t have the room. Welding looks good. What’s the first project going to be. 👍

Thanks for sharing Tom, I was wondering what profession you retired from since you are obviously an expert machinist with professional tools. I'm looking forward for more projects

Bought this kit and put the guide rods and channel in my press, looks like I bent the channel trying to press in the rods! Why do they make them so damn tight? It's going to be welded I don't see the point....they are only to guide the brake......

How wide is that U-channel? Is the U-channel and the L-angle different thickness?

Tom, you don't look 50 yrs old. You just lost man-points talking about reading instructions. You can read'em, but don't talk about it! LOL - Don't you hate those words, "Some assembly Required". - Good looking finger brake. I so wish I had a MIG welder. See you next time!
