just an observation for your next build.. hinge the cover on the other side so if you have to pull over to the shoulder of the road and get something out of your trailer your not at risk of getting run over.
Nice ! I’ve been kicking around the thought of building a lid , I’m building one now , you just happen to give me a great idea ! You did great work my friend !!
What I would give to spend a week with you troy in your shop and learn everything I could... Great work as always troy. I have pretty much all of your products. Thanks again from Texas.
That is beautiful mate. A lot more simple and nicer than anything else I’ve seen on RU-vid. I’ve been watching and looking for ideas as I’m looking at building my own from ground up. I’d do the same as yours but I’d make the top so it goes straight up and down with a canvas extension that folds out and ditch the roof top tent. But I really do love the build.
Outstanding work from Swag! On a separate note, I do watch a lot of RU-vid and I have noticed a lot of appearances from your portable bandsaw base. I bought mine 5 years ago, I use that bandsaw more that my stand up bandsaw. That’s been my go to! 😊
THIS is exactly what I want to have done to my M-416 Jeep Trailer. I could use some advice to get all of the items needed and some plans. I am a disabled veteran and don't know how much I can do or if I should get it done by someone I can trust. I got seriously burned financially on my Jeep rebuild and it cost me thousands unnecessarily. A very painful experience in trust, I can tell you. Any help or guidance would certainly be appreciated. I would like to see the tent deployed. I like that it is on the ground since I can't see the wife and I climbing up on the top to sleep!
What do you think about using 16 gauge with 3/4" 16 gauge square tube for a skeleton for the box of of a trailer like this? Strong enough? I have an extra sheet of that and plenty of 3/4" tube I could use to start building my trailer.
Lookin good. BTW for those who dont know, some of his products are upgrades to harbor freight tools to make them usable. Not to mention his prices are reasonable on top of that. So buy a cheap tool, upgrade with his parts and still be better than some tools costing 4x as much off the start. Would be interested in some of the cad files in 3ds format for the trailer itself. I had the same trailer and my YJ I made in 3ds format and converted to a couple games but lost it all in a hard drive failure.
everything looks great but I wonder how your coupler has held up over the years now? turn left right and the up down pivit but you didn't have any compensation for twist jeep leaning left and trailer leaning right
+johnny bigrigger i believe it has a bolt threaded into the tongue. so that bushing and bracket is bolted to the receiver and there is a bold going from the bushing to the tongue. i dont know if i would want a single 5/8 or 3/4 bolt towing my trailer.
Holy Awesomesauce!!! Nice work :) I want to make something like this but, alas, I'm perpetually broke LOL. However, with some smart planning I bet I could make such a trailer happen regardless. Looks like it'd be a blast to use for family adventures.
I have one of Canadian M-101CDN trailers, which is essentially the US 416 style. Where can I procure the lid like you have? I didn't see it one on the website.
About how much do you think all of this would cost? I have an M105 that is sitting at my ranch that i only use once in a while and this is a good idea for me an my son for camping trips.
I’ve seen this video before but I forgot to comment. I have a similar trailer built in 1946 per the title. The lid is heavy AF and I only have one shock on it. It’ll go up with some muscle and stay sitting up but I’d really like to add another support lift. The issue is on the rear of the trailer, the previous owner put a swing out tailgate and there is also a water line in the area where I would l likely need to put a piece of C-channel to attach a support to. I’ll be posting a video soon with all the features on mine. I need ya’ll to critique it and tell me good or bad what I should change, add, remove completely, etc....
I have an opportunity to buy the same military trailer but I figured I'd put a permanent cover on with a rack and rooftop tent and a cargo slide in the bed.
scooter2099 1st) How about you build a better a trailer and then, post a video about said trailer. 2nd) I would suggest that the owner grab all of the stuff thast he needs before erecting their pop up tent. Fyi..
being that its a rooftop tent and he can lift while its not setup so he should be able to lift it up when its setup being that there is no poles on the ground only a ladder so unless someone was laying in the tent at the time i dont see a problem with it
To Eric S. Now are you a speech therapist because to comment on such a small issue you must be perfect. Ah da hum maybe he should quit breathing while he is at is. Cheers
